I have made a minor blunder and misread my permission to stay date or some reason...
So now its too late to change it and i will be on 2 days overstay when i get to Nong-Khai to cross the border.
I would like to hear i anyone knows i its going to be a problem i they see it at one o the many checkpoints on the way there
I know about overstay ees, and how this usually works, and i am just unsure how it works i i get stopped on the way there, now thats its Junta law.
Sorry, but my F seems to have dissappeared on my keyboard today, i hope its readable anyway.

Not G7, I'm Danish...
Probably still going for the tv.
Thanks again.

You should be able to get another 2 entry tourist visa in Vientiane.
I you plan trying to stay for another year the ED visa may be the best route but you probably don't have enough time to get the paperwork to get one. So a single entry tourist visa might be a good option.
I was thinking about that, and if i went that way, a quick visa run would give me another 15 days to wait for the paperwork right?

Just the man i was hoping for an answer from...
Thank you, i will go for the dbl. entry at Vientiane.

I have a question to you experts.
I am going for a new visa next month, and were planning on a tv, but after all thats happened tha last couple of weeks i am unsure of what to do.
I would prefer another tv, as i already speak ok Thai, and have no real desire to go back to school.
You should also know that if i go the ED route, i will attend classes, because if i do it, i do it correctly.
But a short history of my visas so far:
After my first 30 days on arrival excempt, i had an ED-visa from 19/11/10 - feb 2013 (27 months)
Feb. 2013 i got a single entry tv from PP
2 entry tv Vientiane on May 2013
2 entry tv Vientiane on Dec 2013 (only used the 1st entry correctly because last use date exceeded by 1 day when i went for my 2nd entry.)
2 entry tv Vientiane on 19/03/14 until now where i am on my last 30 days.
You also need to know i will be getting a new passport before i go for the next visa.
My question is do i go for the ED visa which would probably be a sure thing, or would it be ok to go for an extra 2/3 entry tv, which i would prefer as i may only stay here for another 6-8 mths.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Maybe i should add that i am one year away from the retirement visa, so thats not an option as of now.

^^ my school from a year ago printed out forms to say its 80%+ required attendance
Sure - I think all student sign a form about needing to attend school.
But - does the school actually keep accurate attendance and refuse to give paperwork (maybe false attendance) to allow students to extend student Visa.
I think schools would currently loose many students if they required 80% attendance to give renewal paperwork for Educational Visa
Well, there ought to be some firm rules in place, so people dont keep abusing the system, and leaving those of us doing it right at a disadvantage.
I welcome this crackdown, even if it foiled my plans for a 3rd tv, but it is fair enough, as tourist dont usually stay in the same country for years on back to back tv's.

Walking street is not a place for a stray little girl. True Milt but, the lady who is looking after the girl should have more sence. Hope it isn't true.
Its amazing how poorly people write here but... i doubt the girl was in WS, i believe it says her parents worked there and were arrested...
I doubt they are referring to the 7 year old working in WS... but not impossible here tho...
Other than that good job someone looks after the girl, and notices these things... may the prepetrator be hung up by his balls for everyone to see.
......and read?
Not getting your point?

If you're going to contravene the rules and criticise the composition of other posts you sure as hell need to make sure your own are faultless otherwise you make yourself look like a dick.
Not the post, the general quality of the articles on here...
I can see how it looks, but i am not as bad at writing English as the article writers in here...
I were not critical of Chris in any way, just correcting how (Edit: "I think ")he understood the article...

Does anyone ever live to see another day after falling off a balcony?
Yes
Last year or maybe 2 years ago, there were a story of a guy falling off a balcony in Jomtien as far as i recall, and he lived...
It was accidental if i remember right.
And about the low balcony rails, they are Thai height... nothing wrong except from us tallies pov.
Its like their standard busses, where my knees would be pressing on the seat in front of me, because i am generally bigger than asians.
Almost forgot: My condolences to the family and friends of young deceased Mr. Bright.

Did not intend to be cynical
Just pointing out that saying we are sorry for tragedies might be useless.
But I do get a pinch in the heart also when I read about tragedies.
I am collecting money currently to re-build 3 houses in the Philippines.
But feeling 'sorry', should be reserved for whne we create a fault, a problem for someone else.
English is not my primary language as well.
I am glad you are not cynical, then i suppose my reply was a bit harsh, bot so was your first one.
So i empathize with those that got hurt i guess.
And helping in the Philippines considering their current situation i respect immensely... good luck with that.

Let me guess, bus was in far right fast lane, travelling too fast, the driver was what, age 27, drunk at the wheel, on ya-ba at the wheel, texting at the wheel, fell asleep at the wheel? It's amazing how many large vehicles end up in the ditch or over turned. Talk about losing face. Real losers. They drive too fast on every road, in every situation, all because they and their little head are bigger than the next guy.
I believe it is called having a big ego that controls you instead of the other way around.
Its a normal trait of uneducated people who dont know better.
I feel sorry for those that got hurt, and i wish them a speedy recovery.
If you feel sorry for these people that, I presume, you do not know,
With all that is going on in this world in terms of tragedies,
You must be one hell of a sorry guy...
And your quite the cynic...
And where did it say that i feel sorry for everything that goes on in this world?
If you have nothing better to do than write crap like this, i feel sorry for you too...
On a side-note English is not my first language, so perhaps sorry is not the correct wording, but yes i feel sorry for people when they get hurt because of other peoples greed, but it does not make my life any sadder except for perhaps the moment where i read it.
And by greed i refer to the fact that there was only 1 driver and he clearly was overworked or something like that, and should never have been behind the wheel.
But i guess most thinking people would have picked up on that already.

I have done this several times in different places, and the result have always been that they are more careful counting out my bin, because now they know i know what the bin should be to the penny.
I have "complained" about them cheating themselves for 4 baht once, and got those looks at first, but when i returned they remembered me with big positive smiles, and have been very careful since.
Like another poster said, treat people the way you want them to treat you... be it money or anything else... its a good code to live by.

I am unwilling to help someone who has been cheating friends and family and family all his life: one day you need to pay !
Then don't.
The OP is clearly a good soul who does a lot of work to help out people in need. She asked for some practical advice to help out a specific expat in a crisis. I don't think she was seeking morality lectures to pass along to this man when he is so down. I ain't religious but you don't have to be to know it is a wonderful thing to help out other human beings in need ... without judging them.
Some people just dont have compassion in their hearts...
Good luck with this Nancy, sorry i dont have advice to give...

Thanks a lot for the answers guys....
Its beginning to come together for me now!
Just one more follow up question for now... At the Laos border, is it best to bring usd or is it ok to pay in bath?
-
Sorry, but the questions keep coming after reading those posts.
What kind of documents would i need to bring to the embassy?
How much does the visa cost?
What does it cost to enter Laos/Cambodia?
How much extra for a double entry in case i change my mind and wish to stay another 3 months?
Sorry again, but reading those posts just seems to be confusing me even further...
-
Leave the country and get a single entry tourist visa in Laos or Cambodia.
The visa is good for a stay of 60 days and costs 1,000 baht, you can extend it in Thailand for another 30 days for an additional 1,900 baht. Giving you 90 days.
Thanks
And you dont think that would be a problem on the back of an ED-visa?
Is a 60 day visa the standard tourist visa? i thought it were only 30 days, but this sounds even easier than i thought.
I can get it in Cambodia you say... That sounds convenient...
Where is the Thai embassy in Cambodia?
Would it be smart to take a visa run bus from here? or should i drive there myself on my Honda phantom, if so i might make a small holiday of it.
Sorry if these are kinda stupid questions, but i would like to be fully prepared before going for the visa.
-
Get a tourist visa from a neighbouring country.
That part i sort of figured out already. :-)
I am asking for more specific advise please...
