This is a very, very sick society.

Thailand's Karma grows darker and darker ...

Oh ... if only Thai police would do what they are supposed to do ... what a wonderful place this would be.

Last time I was in London I was standing at a zebra crossing waiting for the cars to pass and they were stopped waiting for me to walk.

The United Nations is monitoring this and I don't think they will find the story believable or even plausible. The reputation of the Thai army and government is on the line with these trials though there has not been much media attention.

This is madness. Now you need 800k in the bank simply for the privilege of spending 90 days with your spouse? What on earth is going on?
This is incentive for Thai women to target men who can afford to post the 800,000 Baht. No money no honey.

Thailand is past redemption. Only a severe social upheaval or enforced draconian measures can stop corruption at this point. Karama is coming to Thailand.
-
This story has been repeated over and over for many years. Karma is coming to Thailand and Thais will learn the hard way which will not be pleasant for anyone.Thai polititians are great at talking the talk, but they don't even take just one step in walking the walk.

This is a crime and should be investigated. BUT ... we all know how the investigation (what investigation?) will turn out.

Regulations can solve problems ONLY if they are enforced. The government has NO power over the police.

Wow. Human life is cheap here.

Can't these yoyos stop saying Thailand will be the hub of everything in the world. They make themselves look ridiculous.

These rates have been set for over a decade. The cost of everything else has risen substantially.
Possibly, if given a better rate, they might have a little more integrity.
Get off the beaten path and the "set fare" and refused fares, aren't so common. It's really only common in areas where the stupid farang will oblige.
First I am not farang. I am a westerner. Second if you took taxis in BKK you would change your tune. Perhaps you have a car and driver. I don't think Ratchaprarop, Petchaburi, Sukhumvit and Silom are off the beaten path where I frequently get taxi drivers refusing to drive to the Ratchatewi area where I live. The people who are paying these scoundrel taxi divers are most probably tourist. I hope they don't come back. There are places more friendly to tourists than Thailand and in my experience, only Africa has taxi drivers as rude and unscrupulous as Thailand. BTW Malaysia is the number 1 tourist destination is SE Asia.

"just a perception that goods are expensive" ... really ? Time for this lady to have a reality check ... but reality for the elite is way different from our reality. So yes ... we perceive higher prices differently. That's more accurate.

Gangsters with money are protected here. A known gangster wanted in the UK is living in Hua Hin and running a business according to western news media. A colleague's spouse was shot point blank by his goons one day before they were to go to court suing the UK gangster for shoddy work on the house he sold them. I imagine there are more like him.

I am amused whenever I hear so and so are taking complaints. Taking complaints and acting on them are two different things. Consumer protection is a concept foreign to the Thai psyche. Let's see how they do.

... especially for imported ... can't wait until 2015.

It is time for foreign tour operators to boycott Phuket and for foreign governments to issue travel warnings. Pattaya soon to follow if they don't clean-up. Want to make these people cry? Cut off their money supply.

Hardly a story worth headlines. The Thai media demonizing foreigners will only encourage violence against foreigners whether they are gainfully employed in Thailand and contributing to the economy or here just as tourists. Dangerous times. Dangerous times.

This happens to women everywhere, not just Thai women and press releases like this are nothing but a distraction from the real problem of crime and corruption that will surely destroy this country as the world around Thailand moves forward in sociopolitical and economic development.
-
Maybe all crimes against foreigner should involve interpol

There is nobody clever enough in this country to monitor a website.
You'd be surprised at what they "can" do here in terms of monitoring/surveillance. It's not as backwards as you imply.
That is confirmed by Thai nationals being jailed for posting content on line in contradiction to the Computer Crimes Act and other laws, as well as TV's own forum rules
Just a little critical thinking makes me think a very powerful, world famous, top secret, surveillance agency has given the Thai government the technology and know-how in exchange for open access.

Where are they getting all this sophisticated snooping technology and know-how? Not much guesswork required to figure it out.
Bangkok Metro Police Commissioner instructs traffic police to solve road congestion

No one respects the law. No one respects the police. Cars use traffic lanes for all day parking by some airport link stations (free park and ride), and why? Because they can. Cars and numerous motorbikes use the sidewalk for free parking on Petchaburi next to the Ratchatewi BTS within sight of the police booth and why? Because they can. The police are lazy and don't care ... so how does Police Lieutenant General Kamronvit Toopkrajang expect results of any kind? There is no plan and there is no way he can make the police do their jobs. No way.
