  1. I am in desperate need of info pertaining to visas. I arrived on a 60 day, went to immigration and revcieved a 30 day extension (at 1900 bhat) however per my own stupidity I overstayed 1 day, yet paid and was granted the extension. Now, I desperately need the 10 day extension.

Question: What are my chances of going to immigration and getting this 10 day extension????

    Thank you!!!

  2. Derman,

Just finished at ECC (Thailand). I moved from the states as well. I'm wondering why your cost calculations (those in the 1st category) in US$'s are for 3 months? Are you getting a TESOL and then CELTA? Not necessary, just do the 1 month CELTA. After you can get many many many many jobs, its just a matter of chosing the right one, you can make 30-40k bhat on average (in BKK) and survive. Outside of BKK teaching jobs pay less, living costs less and opportunities are less as demand is greater. Agree, double you food and entertainment costs and.........add in electric and H2O for apartment living, oh as well as a deposit up front. You'll survive, just try to come with some extra pennies for those unexpected costs.

  3. I highly reccommend Evergreen Place Apartments. Its a jaunt north of MBK, next to the Asia hotel. Its 1 minute from BTS, Easy and fast to get to Sukhumvit. There is workout facility, sauna, steam room, cafe, pool, laundry, guards 24 hrs. Most of all the staff is exceptionally wonderful!!!!!!. You can book on line at www.evergreenapartment.com, pick and look through different room types. Its a good price for the month and I suggest you bargin and ask for a discount via email(it works). Much luck!

  4. I was recently incarcerated in the hospital for over 5 days with???????????????????

After a day of disorientation, fever, sweats, a temperature a bit over 103 degrees (41+) and kidney pains I taxied myself to a hospital. My 1st diagnosis was Dengue fever….at which the Doc. said, “Don’t worry Westerners usually don’t go into shock or die, they do pretty well comparatively.” In the end I left with no diagnosis, a virus or something. Anyhow….my lesson………if your Western immunized the odds are in your favor!
