  1. I just got back from a trip to the USA the first part of June.  I only noticed two changes.

One going out....special little trays for your shoes to go in while going through security on your way to passport check.  And on return if you go through the nothing to declare lane they put your bags through x-ray on exit.  I had 3 bags a backpack and a carry on.  They only scanned one of my bags and waved me through.  Not sure why.  They were checking everyone else.  I flew in on Cathay, so lots of people arriving from Hong Kong.

Hoo boy.  The Thailand seller raised their price slightly and Amazon lowered their price slightly, so I went to order on Amazon.

The "Import Fee Deposit" went from $99.15 (on the old US$1300.55 price) to $242.92 (on the new US$1278.54 price).

What the heck???   From 7.6% to 19%?

Clear your cookies...I had that happen when looking at several price quotes for air fare last year...cleared my cookies and all was fine.  it may help...

  3. Oxalic acid can be found in Rhubarb, spinach and other plants and vegetables.

Fascinating dialogue but does anyone know what all these acids etc do to the septic tank? There is no way that I will damage the ecosystem in my tank.

  4. 15% removes the grout if you need to retile, but doesn't touch the limescale! NOT in my house......by the way I posted on the Chiang Mai forum because that's where the original conversation was 2 years ago... I live in Sattahip....we had a shallow well, and then dug a deep water well hoping for better softer water......and got the same results!

Hydrochloride acid, vinegar, and any other acid you can think of, I have tried and it will not...repeat will not remove hard water limescale build up....EVEN LIMEADE-AWAY will not remove it! ☺️

Vinegar not ... but hydrochloric acid in a useful concentration will remove any limestone! If hydrochloric acid didn't work, then it is either too thinned out, or it wasn't hydrochloric acid (HCl) , or it's not limestone you are trying to clear!

I use some no-name cleaner which states 15% HCl content and it will blast away any limestone. I then have to be quick to avoid removal of grout :-/

  5. Oxalic acid should not hurt your septic as far as I know. As for the pumice stone good luck with that. I ordered a bunch from the states and have used them MAKING sure to keep things wet...and you STILL can NOT get it ALL the scale off especially without scratching the porcelain. Anyone else want a go. believe me in 12 years I have tried EVERYTHING!!!!!!

If grocery store brands are working for you....including for rust....then you DO NOT have much of a problem!...and probably on city water. Grocery store brands won't even take the water spots off the bottom of my stainless sink.....the rest I am fanatic about drying everytime the water is turned on. If they work for you fine....but don!t tell me what I have isn't from limescale buildup from calcium carbonate in the water....it's been tested!

P.S. On the vinegar...won't work especially the percentages they sell here....but lime away and vinegar never worked for me in San Diego either....and my problem wasn't nearly as bad.

BTW....I posted this here for people who know the product I'm talking about and that it will be available soon...not to get instructions on how to clean!

  6. Sorry GUYS but those grocery store brands don"t cut it....they DO NOT remove hard water buildup...especially if you get your water from wells. BARKEEPERS Friend has Oxalic Acid...that is the key ingredient to remove the buildup easily without damage.

You may be able to find pure Oxalic Acid...but then you have to research how to use it as I believe you can not use it without some kind of dilution. ?

  7. I ordered a crockpot from them...sent by a seller that uses their service, just like Amazon. It was damaged. Used the information on how to return an item. Did that and had a couple e-mail clarifications from me in English.which they replied to in English....got a refund and refund of costs for returning item also.

I DID take pictures of the damage and I did send them with my first inquiry for refund instead of waiting to see if they would require them. Went fairly smoothly IMO.

Sometimes I think it's just the luck of the draw!

  8. When searching for BARKEEPERS FRIEND in Thailand, I saw an old post on Thai visa, so I posted an update in the general forum and all I got for my trouble was 3 ignorant comments. If you are interested in getting rid of hard water scale and a multitude of other stains, then maybe this information is for you.

I ran across a distributor in Malyasia and tried contacting them twice withou any replies. That's when I contacted the international rep at BKF. He told me he is working with a distributor in Thailand to get BKF in Thailand. The last email I got from the distributor here in Thailand, is that all paperwork is now at the last stage of approval...so hopefully soon we will be able to purchase BKF in Thailand.

Lots of videos on Youtube...now the videos all seem to have commercials before the actual video.

  9. The biggest watermark in S.E. Asia is currently under construction behind Silverlake. maybe when it's finished there will be some competition and prices will be lowered. You can only hope. Howeve, from the prices listed above, seems like they lowered them from the initial opening.

This is the website..such as it is currently, for the new park. http://www.ramayanawaterpark.com/en/home/

  10. You need to re-read my posts. I stated the name brand is Gadget Guru. Also....I only put the link there for the brand of box. I realize there is more than one, but unless you have a better translation than I have NOTHING was CLEAR. Guess I would rather pay the cheaper price anyway.....i've already set up 14.1 on a laptop, but rather have a box......I was just hoping maybe someone had experience with this particular brand...well doesn't matter anymore.

Already done all the research I'm gonna do on the different box formats etc.. At first I though I'd get ROKU, but it has it's limitations, whereas android is more adaptable.

Guess I will just order a pre-configured Kodi g-box from Amazon and have my family send it to me....that way I know for sure what I'm getting and for sure documentation will be in English.

I wouldn't call 'android' or 'media player box' a brand.

Probably better to refer to media players as a 'type', and there are several.

Sticks, Boxes, Set Top, Built-in, Integrated, HTPC, etc. And, sure, many are running Android, or some flavor of Linux.

A lot of discussions already occurring over the last two years in the Internet, computers, communication, technology and Audio/Visual, HiFi and Home Theatre forums.

Just use the ThaiVisa search "android box" or "internet TV".

Have you read any of those topic entries yet?

So, 3,490฿ is OK, but 4,990฿ for a preconfigured box is way too high. Got it.

While I didn't buy an M8 android box, I've purchased and configured a CS918 hdmi android box for 3,000฿. Learned what custom roms and features could be run on it.

I got it mostly for the Thai Family to watch Internet downloaded and streamed content. They've gotten used to playing with the standard android interface and lauching youtube and thai specific music and movie apps, but while xbmc would have been trivial to install they never took to that media player interface. They'd rather watch a rerun on the DVB-S2 Sat box.

But for expats these are mostly great devices. Very quiet and non-intrusive. Great HD picture.

Before buying a specific model it's highly recommended you read and research the user feedback and product specific forums for information on how well they work, or what one can do to get them to work. Just like their mobile phone cousins, an under-powered device with no real memory isn't much fun.

  11. Does anyone know about this line of media players. It's android for sale on Lazada...says will work with xbmc/Kodi. Not sure if it includes pre-installed software or not, but I have experience installing Kodi 14.1 on windows...and there is help on You Tube, but just wondering about the box quality and how easy to use....

  12. I have been in touch with the head company of BKF Int'l division because I was fed up with not getting any information from the SE asian distributor of BKF. I was informed that they have been working with a company in Thailand for several months to get BKF in the stores here..just takes time with all the red tape. The person here in Thailand will be notifying me on updates, so I will pass that a long as soon as I hear anything.

  13. If you listen to the channel that gives news on updates for Truevisions...it's because they are changing to HDTV/digital...and it only affects satellite for

now. On Monday the 21st. the network will be down from one minute past midnight until 10 a.m. Cable subscribers will get the same updates soon. Whole country changing to digital.

Why, so we can have 500 channels of Thai soaps and variety shows?

Why do you spit on the messenger.....there was a question that I answered.....that's what's going on. I don't watch true,(info from someone else that does) just giving free info....Next time ya all can just moan and groan!

  15. My husband, just informed me that the Thai Calendar for legal holidays in Pattaya, includes the 20th in the celebrations this year. officially 18,19, and 20th. Have you ever known a Thai holiday that is at the weekend to NOT include the WHOLE weekend? (or more)

  16. From guidelines for application of Thai citizenship....(how many of you are willing to do this..... I believe this has been added in the last few years)

"Applicants should produce a document that they have submitted to their embassy or consulate in Thailand that demonstrates their intention to renounce their existing citizenship when they are approved for Thai citizenship."

  17. We have one rai for sale in a development east of hwy 11 down 1006.....turn off not far after crossing the RR tracks.

When we checked what we could sell it for two years or so ago the price was 2,000,000 baht.

I think prices have gone up a bit since then. In any event it's still for sale. Concrete road, electric and phone connections close by. Land is square flat piece.

  18. I need help disconnecting my question mark slash key from a shortcut. Since I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 my question mark slash key does not type the question mark or slash.....it will only open a side bar for "project to a connected screen". I have search all the settings, done all kind of seaches to try and find out how to get that key back to typing a question mark and slash. You wouldn't think not having that key would affect much, but I can't even type my address without it.

    Thanks,

  19. Surprisingly enough, I asked at a Kasikorn exchange booth at Central Festival today and the girl there told me "no limit". I was surprised as my bank (SCB) always does a third degree when paying for my health insurance or sending other money out of the country even in smallish amounts. I asked her B300k she said no problem. I asked how much more and she said, "No limit".

I'd rather do the cash in my pocket as I am not going to my home country. The $10,000 notification is not a limit, it is just that you have to declare it. Not a problem.

Right...there is NOT a limit, but if you want to be under the radar....then it's 10,000 USD. good luck!

  20. If you are selling the car to a farang - you could get them to do the exchange as part of the deal.

I have also heard of cases where the farang will deposit the money, most likely via the internet, into your home country bank account, and the deal is done.

Not a great idea to have around $3500US on your person, or in your room.

Thanks, Rickster. No limit? I might wait to sell the car then.

    Whereabouts is Tilok-u-Thit 2 ? Sorry - I don't get to Phuket Town much.

The legal limit without having report your cash to Customs is $10,000 USD or equivalent.

    $20,000

Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app

Actually legal limit for carrying with on a flight is up to 10,000 USD...that INCLUDES any loose change in your pockets....HOWEVER, with TSA the way they are and very sticky fingers....don't think it's a good idea...either wire transfer or international bank draft.

  21. Are there any leather repair shops that are actually EASY to get to in Pattaya....a place that actually refinishes cracked leather instead of replacing it? I have a very soft leather on my sofa that we brought with us from the states...but needs a little TLC after 10 years plus....
