They are done at the office for the province that you pur for your address on the application.

The pending and approved reports and the receipt for it shows that your local office did it.

Edit: Snip of my receipt for one done in November.

Then I stand corrected. I showed my partner my previous online 90-day Receipts of Notification and she confirmed that they do indeed say the name of my province (in Thai). But she says my latest one, via the new system, does not mention the province or district location. See clip below. Could be they just omit it, or maybe they have centralized the whole process with the new system. What do you think?

  2. To give credit where it is due, the new web browser system (I've never used the app version) seems to me a significant improvement compared to the old one.  Firstly, you are submitting the 90-day report info into a system that is linked to your registered account, so they have your email on file, you don't need to re-enter it.  And one would assume they will have an instant record of previous 90-day online reports that one has made.  Second, the interface of the online form is much better, more modern, than the old one, with more robust dropdown menus where these are used.  Third, it asks for less information than previously.

I registered easily last week, receiving an email confirming registration and providing a direct link to the log-on page.

This morning I logged on without any problems, filled out the form and submitted it (make sure to use the dropdown menus for Province, etc., in the address section).  I only filled out the asterisk boxes apart from adding my first name.  After hitting the "Submit" button a "Success" message flashed up and a new tab opened with a PDF of a completed TM47 form, and I received an email confirming receipt of my submission.

6 hours letter I received an approval email with "RECEIPT OF NOTIFICATION" pdf attached showing due date of next 90-day report.

  3. Scrolling back through this, I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Sloane's in Bangkok.  Terrific quality products.  They do deliveries, but also Villa and Tops in my area now has a limited range of Sloane's sausages.

    https://www.sloanes.co.th/product-category/sausages/

The Lincolnshire are very good, but hey -- if you're that big into sausages then try them all!

I like many of Sloane's other products that I've tried too.

this is the URL I am using   https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm   , is that correct, cannot even get on the site now....to even be rejected

I don't know if this will help, but I suggest you start from this page on the website -- because you need to scroll down and tick the box at the bottom of the text before clicking "Accept" in order to get to the page you linked to:

    to summarize so far:

You can get in a waiting list at:

    -Samitivej Hospital

    -BNH Hospital

    -MedconsultAsia

Like a couple of others have mentioned, I also received a very professional email from Bumrungrad in February.  It linked to a survey, which I completed, and for which I received a confirmation email.  Based on conversations with other friends, I believe they sent this to all registered Bumrungrad patients.

A few weeks ago, I called about something else, and while on the line I asked if there was any further news.  I received a very professional reply (which was clearly scripted), saying that an application had been made to the relevant authorities and they were waiting for approval.  And that anyone who had completed the questionnaire would be emailed if/when any firm information was available.

  8. I bank with Citibank in Hong Kong, Singapore and New York -- and I worked for Citi for ten years in the 80s/90s.

But in Thailand I have used a Krungsri Visa since 2012, and can recommend it highly for anyone looking for a Citi alternative.

Krungsri credit card customer service has been impeccable (and their call centre English language capability is superb).   Their approval process is robust and reliable (including domestic or international online transactions).  Bill payments are credited instantly to the account.  I must say I've not had any problems with my card in all those years.

I also use Krungsri for my banking needs and find that excellent too (apart from the normal paperwork requirements if you ever need to go to a branch, which is rarely for me).  Their technology is solid, and a pleasure to use.

  9. My current Samui cars are a John Cooper Works Mini Countryman and an Audi TT.  I adore them both, but the lack of local service/repair facilities is always a bit of a worry, although I travel within Thailand a lot so at least on the service side I can use Phuket, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, etc.  If you plan to drive frequently to the mainland you could definitely consider a Macan, but the model offered here, if I recall, isn't top end, and would set you back +/- THB5 million.

I had a Honda CRV dual-turbo diesel (model DT-EL 4WD) for a couple of years, but sold it last May when I got the JCW Mini.  The Honda is a pretty impressive SUV, probably the best of the non-truck-based SUVs, with adequate ground clearance for most Samui conditions, and great to drive when you get off the island -- and local servicing, of course.  Surprisingly, my Countryman has the same ground clearance as the CRV and loads of space, plus electrifying performance (306hp) -- so if you are into that sort of thing it could be another option.

When I bought the Honda a couple of years back, I also looked and and drove the Everest, Fortuner (which I had owned before), Pajero and Mazda CX-5.  The Mazda CX-5 was pretty impressive, and I nearly went for it.  I believe Mazda now have a turbo version of the CX-5 if performance is important to you.  And they now offer the Mazda CX-8 in Thailand -- don't know much about it but worth a look I would think.

If you do decide to go for a truck, the latest Isuzu spec looks really impressive and may be worth considering.

As many here will likely tell you, if you plan to change cars fairly frequently and if resale value is highly important, then Toyotas and Hondas tend to lead in that regard

    Good luck with your search

  10. Despite the amnesty, I did online 90-day reports in March (first time I had used the web site process) and in June.  My next due date was September 13th, and my diary reminded me to do it today.  I submitted the application online at 17:15, and received an approval email from Immigration at 18:00.  If they carry on like this I shall have to start singing their praises ????

I’ve flown many times (NokAir, VietJet, Bangkok Airways, Air Asia) within Thailand using only my Thai driving licence for ID, never had a problem and never been asked to provide any extra passport info. Like the OP, my driving licence shows my previous passport number

Same for me too.  In 8 years of extensive domestic flight travel I have not once had to show my passport.  Neither to the airline, nor to security.

Also, contrary to what many people here contend, I always use my driving licence to check into hotels.  Last year I spent 80 nights in domestic hotels (probably similar in all the other years since I have lived here) in Bangkok and all over Thailand.  Not once was I asked for a passport.  Over those 8 years, I believe just 2 hotels have insisted on a passport at check in, and on the spot I just emailed or AirDropped a copy from my phone so they can print it.  No problem.

  12. Such a shame this glorious Khmer temple site is still disputed.  If there was any sense, the two nations should agree to share the spoils, and allow full access from both sides.  But I'm not holding my breath...

I was there 15 years ago, when you could enter the whole temple area from the Thai side, and I remember the visit like it was yesterday.  A rainy day, but none the worse for it...

  13. 1.  Between June 9th and 30th we drove through 23 provinces in Thailand's south, east and centre.  There was not a single Covid-19 check.  More surprisingly, we didn't see a single police radar speed trap ???? although we passed a few checkpoints where police or army were doing regular checks on road tax or for security.

    2.  Even in early May there was very little around in the way of Covid-19 checks where we traveled...  We did Udon Thani to Koh Samui and passed one check in Phetchaburi (temperature only, no questions asked), plus the ferry check from Don Sak to Samui

    3.  In all our driving March/April/May/June (more than 10,000km), we only passed through a single full checkpoint, approaching Udon from the east, which we had to pass through several times.  But only a temperature check and a form to say where we were staying and sometimes a phone number

    4.  I doubt there are any Covid-19 checkpoints left in the country, but even if you do hit one, it's no sweat.  At most, a temperature check and a few questions, and off you go

But wanted to know if legal?

A couple of months back I rented a Nissan Terra in Udon Thani, and it came with a factory-fitted rearview camera, but with a switch to alternate between the monitor screen and regular mirror.  So I assume since they are selling this car in Thailand, it must be legal...

I tended to use the regular mirror, simply because the monitor screen takes a bit of adjusting to and I only had it for a week.  Having said that, the scope of the camera monitor is vastly superior to that offered by a regular rearview mirror
