Does DTAC offer EDGE for Prepaid users? If so.. could someone point me to an URL with information? I tried to check their website also.
-
I have been trying to find such service also. One company who might have it soon is:
http://www.sawasdeetalk.com/content/softphone.htm
When you check that link, you can see "Choose Thai Number: COMING SOON".
Maybe Skype will have SkypeIn in Thailand in the (near) future.

Which Artificial Intelligence language are you (Manum) using? Prolog? Lisp?
I am actually using PHP only, with loops and regexps
Anyway, I have a question again.
Would there be some rule for unwritten (a)? For example โทรศัพท์ ? How could I know it's not "syllablified" to โทร ศัพท์ .. instead of โท ระ ศัพ ?
-
Btw. I am planning to make this open source since everybody who has made something like this tend to keep it as their own secrets So please.. help me if possible

That is pronounced 'Sat' and the final 'ว' is unpronounced.
Yep I know.. but I am just thinking of a rule how to NOT ignore ต in this word.
-
And in these cases I should know how to ignore BOTH consonants:
ภาพยนตร์
ถ่ายภาพยนตร์
In the case of ignoring the last two consonants when the 'Garan' is only over the last consonant is quite easy as it is not very common (it only occurs in certain words of Pali and Sanskrit origin) and it is only words which end with 'ตร์ ' which do this as far as I can recall. I could be mistaken but I can't think of any other instances.
For example:
สัตว์
Anyway..this word could be easily worked out because of 'a' after สั...

Hi,
As I didn't find any code snippets or something, I started making thai syllable breaker on my own.
It can be found from here (with example word):
http://wk.fi/thai/trans.php?w=%CA%A1%BB%C3%A1
There still are looot of errors and not even all the consonants and vowels are in.
Now I am wondering what is the rule to ignore gaa-ran (รื for example) efficiently? There are words where only the consonent below it should be ignored, but also words that two consonants must be ignored.
Examples with one consonant in the end:
สัตว์
รถยนต์
And in these cases I should know how to ignore BOTH consonants:
ภาพยนตร์
ถ่ายภาพยนตร์
And many others.. help is appreciated

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone here knows any programming libraries or such to break up thai words into syllables? I am planning to make Finnish-Thai-Finnish dictionary and I would like to have automated transliteration of Thai words.
I found something from Chula's pages but the links were broken. I found a perl library to break a sentence into words already but now I need to break the word into syllables.
Thanks!

Is there any place in Bangkok where you can buy second hand soap series in VCD format? My wife and I are moving to Finland and I we would like to buy lots of series in VCD before we go. The problem is that they are a bit expensive (700-1000 baht) for 10 discs or something.
If there is any place to buy used ones.. let me know.

I am making a web based software that makes transliteration in Thai for Finnish words. I am not sure if I can find any use for it.. maybe I can make a fin-thai dictionary or something later.
I am not so good in Thai language but I can read OK.
First I would like to know if it's possible to produce R or S in end of the word? For S I would like to translate a word like "Species", "Cars" or whatever. And for R maybe just "Car". Anyway the sound of Finnish R is different.
Thanks!

Get it in your country sounds better. IDL is not normally valid for a resident or more than a limited period in any case (although do not know law in Finland).
Thai IDL can be changed to Finnish IDL if we can prove she drive for 6 months in Finland. Anyway.. I think it's good idea to go to driving school in Finland later.

Dangerous way of cost saving IMO
My wife had her d/l on arriving in my homecountry but no experience.
She start to study the language.Did theoretical examination in that language to get her national d/l,followed by practical examination.
She has her own car(s) since ( now about 27 years) and never had an accident.
Think about "others" who can be involved in an accident.
You have a good point. Maybe I just skip trying to find one from Thailand. Just let her drive license in Finland if she wants to.. later
-
and make sure you have full insurance too (in Finland).
Unless you live in the no where, you cannot let somebody with that kind of experience on the european roads.(it is already bad enough that it is happening in Thailand that way)
Well she says she doesn't want to drive in Finland at all. But maybe some day she wants.. that's where we talking about saving money. Anyway.. of course we will get a good insurance for her from Finland

Heyas,
I have been living with my Thai wife in Bangkok for 6 months now. We are moving to Finland.. got a 90 days Visa for her. In Finland we will apply for a residence permit for her.
Anyway.. I know it's possible to change Thai Driver's License to Finnish Driver's License if it has been received before first entry to Finland.
Does anyone know any good place where we can get Thai Driver's License for my wife in Bangkok? She is a bit shy because she never drove a car before so we are trying to find some reputable place with driving school also! And is it possible to do this all in 2 weeks because we are moving on 10th of May What are the costs for driving school and license?
Thanks!

Heyas!
I am a man but I have a Thai wife. She would like to know if there are any places in Bangkok where you could do some kind of permanent hair straightening. I myself tried to find some information for her from internet and I found information about some kind of silk straightening (Silk transformation) or something.
What are the costs for such operation and how long does it take? How long does it last once done?
If anyone has any information.. thanks in advance!

Has anyone tried this before?
http://www.hispeedworld.com/main/tv/
I stay in Bangkok and it's working great on my 2M adsl. I asked my friends in Finland to try also and they said it's working great.
Anyone know though, where to find Channel 3 live stream 256k+ ?
2008 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships

Does anyone know if any channel in Thailand show these games? Or are there maybe some sport bars showing these? I tried to look the website of "The Office Bar", but didn't see much Ice Hockey games in their event list ;-)
Thanks in advance!
