  1. I broke a small 'glass level' or 'glass shelf' or something from my fridge. Where can I buy custom sized glass from Bangkok? Is there any place near Rama 9 or any subway station?

Of course I would like to have the edges rounded also so I don't get wounded from the new glass when I use it inside fridge. It should be also strong enough.. like some armor glass or something :D

My English isn't so good so I don't know the right term for what I need :D Anyway I hope someone understood what I want :o

  2. Hrm.. where can I find this Mary Haas dictionary? My book 'Essential Grammar' says that it's very good book for new learner. I am living in Bangkok. Does Asia Books have it perhaps?

  3. Heyas,

I am trying to look for some good Thai Language School from Bangkok. I would like to take intensive 1on1 lessons and I would like to emphasize my learning on reading and pronunciation.

I know the basics only *know many words and lots of grammar but can't keep up conversation) and I can read a bit also. So far I have been self learning everything and my girlfriend has helped me a bit also.

I am not sure if it's a stupid idea to take 1on1 on reading with private tutor and after few weeks continue self learning again (with help of my gf).

I just have 4-5weeks extra time now so...

Some people told me peeraya is good.. any other recommendations? :>

  4. Newbie question:

Hrm.. where can I pay my TOT phone bill. Really.. I have no idea! I tried to call TOT service center at 1100 but they didn't have any information or what they had I didn't understand. They also gave me some phone number where to ask more information but the number doesn't work :o

    Thanks! :D

  5. Heyas!

I am going to an interview on friday morning. I have nothing good looking to put on. I have been just travelling around Thailand so I haven't bought a suit and I didn't bring a suit from my home country also.

What is the best place to buy ready suits if I can't get tailor-made fast enough? I don't need full suit. Just need good looking pants, shoes and white shirt. I think you know what I mean. I am not so good in English to explain what I need.. just something "OK" looking for an interview... not jeans and sandals :o

Can anyone recommend any shopping center for buying ready clothes/suits? Like gaysorn etc. Or is there any tailor that have suits ready made and they could make small modifications to make it look good on me.

    Thanks!

  6. Does anyone know any good place where to buy Hong Kong movies in Bangkok? I would like to find older Jet Li movies. Would be nice if they had either of these combinations:

    1) English text + Thai dub

    2) Thai text + English dub

The reason I want this is because I would like to watch them with my GF who can't read English so good and fast :D And because I can't read Thai fast enough :o

  7. I'll reiterate that a Degree from a Thai Uni is worthless in the wide world outside of Thailand. While you may see your future in Thailand for the near future think about 10 years down the line.

Don't think a degree from a Thai Uni is going to be an automatic ticket to preferential treatment either when it comes to Visas, WPs etc when you have graduated because it won't.

Yeah well this is again not something I asked for. It's always a pleasure to hear great opinions from people. Thanks to you, too! :o

Anyway thanks to Anna for good answers to my quqestions.

  8. Yeah well .. I like to study in Thailand because I am planning to stay here for a long time. Studying gives me an opportunity to stay longer.

And about AU.. I think I will apply there. I have been mailing with someone from AU already but I was trying to find alternative options. Some people say AU is one of the most respected universities in Thailand.. anyone have any experience about AU?

  9. Heyas,

I am not sure if this should be posted here, but I didn't find any other forum about education (only for teaching).

I am currently living in Bangkok and trying to find a university to study at. I would like to start as soon as possible! I am looking for undergraduate program (Bachelor's Degree).

I have been sending inquiries to many universities and I have also visited many websites.

Does anyone know if there is any university that is taking students in more than twice a year? I would be ready to start studying in March.

I am interested in Computer Science/IT and everything related to computers. Another main interested would be reading B.A. majoring Thai language, but I haven't found any university in Bangkok that offers this. I have been E-mailing with some person from Kasetsart (or something) university and they have such program, but the medium of instruction is Thai. They told me though, that they could give me 4-6 months intensive Thai course before I could attend classes with Thai people :D Wouldn't that be interesting :o

Anyway.. if anyone know any university where I could start in around March already.. please let me know. I would like to study in Bangkok, but other provinces are also considered if I find a good school/program.

  10. Heyas all! This is my first post to this forum.

I am from Finland and I am going back to Thailand next January for 6 months. Now I am wondering if I can do remote work for a Finnish company in a legal way.

Do I need a work permit in Thailand if I want to do remote work for Finland? I am an IT-programmer and I could get my laptop with me and do remote work.

I have heard many people say yes's, no's and everything between. Now I am asking here because I am very unsure about this.

If I need a work permit, is it hard to get for a remote work? For which country do I pay taxes etc?

And if there is any addition information about doing remote work in Thailand, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance! :o
