  1. I heard that the Gap (the American clothing store) has a shop in Bangkok.... Does anyone know where it is? Can you let me know where? Or is this information false?

According to their website www.gap.com the answer is no only in the US.

They also have branches in most major cities in the UK as well. Not sure about BKK though.

I bought some kids Gap t shirts at the Russian market in Cambodia, fraction of the cost. :)

  2. classic example of store ripoff ( lotus)

we bought a 5 piece bed set ( sheets and pillow cases) as the package said

we got home, found 2 sheets, 2 pillow cases.

complained the next time we were there, their story, the piece of cardboard packing was the 5th item in the package

Where else but Thailand? I bet they were serious too?

Just told my wife (thai) this story. She agreed with Lotus! :)

  3. Not gonna post any details but I had a supposed "friend" keep on making stupid little comments about my daughter of 2 years 9 months such as "oh if I was 30 years younger" then he was smelling her hair but to top it all she was playing in the ice box & he walked behind her & simulated sex from behind. Needless to say the guy is no longer my friend & I keep my daughter away from him.

  4. I went to the Patpong market on Monday night

    Well there's the problem Monday

For the last few years street vendors are not allowed to open Mondays as it is a Bangkok city council law so the street cleaners can do their main weekly clean-up. The cops were actually doing their job properly.

Depends on how long ago he went. They've changed cleaning day from Monday to Wednesday now. Also it doesn't include markets, just stalls on the roadside. They changed it about 2 months ago.

  5. I'm playing Fracture on the 360 at the moment, what a good game. Everything has impressed me. The graphics, the weapons, gameplay, what a polished game.

    PLAY IT.

  6. Just finished fallout 3 last night - available now for those with modded 360s

Hello m8, where did you get your copy of Fallout 3? Looking forward to that one myself but not seen it yet.

    Nearly finished Fracture, wicked game.

  7. Just had my 360 chipped in chinatown. Got some new games at the same time, came home fired it up & <deleted>@k me only 2 of the 6 games work. The other games give the error message, wrong region.

So I have to find some way of telling if the games are Pal or region free before I buy them!

Soul Calibur IV & Guitar Hero 3 both work though :o

  8. Hello, I have a Burmese maid and I noticed in the housing complex I live ( Nontaburi )there is a Burmese community here also. I cant believe how many even my wife is surprised.

I noticed it when I go to, the school to pick up my kids go to the store pool etc. And now it seems my house is a hang out for a few to meet, I don't mind. My maids mom(Burmese) comes over to see her daughter and her friends. I am happy she has friends and people to talk to..

My wife thinks it is good also.

Does any one else see this in there area?

Hi Will, I live in an apartment block in Bangkhea, our neighbours are from Burma & they constantly have relatives & friends in there apartment. Not just a few but like 15/20 at a time. They even had 20 monks in there apartment for about 6 hours the other day.

    Nice people though

  9. Thanks everyone for all your comments. I have been busy with my son and unable to log on as much as possible.

I was with my son for 3 weeks but trying to keep everything jai yen with my ex's family I took him back to his grandparents yesterday. I am slowly trying to convince them to let him stay with me for school full time and take him to the grandparents during his vacations.

For now, I will drive the 3 hours to visit him every month. In November, I hope he will stay with me and start the 2nd semester of a school here in Chiang Mai.

I was able to take care of him pretty good. He does seem to have his crying fits when he wants something like a toy or something. When I don't give it to him he hits me....falls on the floor...and really throws a temper tantrum. I am hoping this is just because he is a baby and he will grow out of it when he is able to communicate better.

I never want to spank him. I was spanked a lot as a child and didn't like it. Until he is old enough to reason with me I will tolerate him being bad.

This really seems to build a different form of patience. I still think the experience is worth it.

Hi Richard, I have a daughter, 1 year & 9 months old & have looked after her on my own since she was 3 months old. I live in BKK.

My daughter is just starting to throw tantrums etc etc. She also is funny about eating sometimes. I just feed her when she wants it.

It is hard sometimes, but I am happier that she is with me as compared to her mother. I know that with me she is safe & well (I hope) looked after.

  10. If you are Sick and cant go to the Border you need a paper from Doktor or Hospital and the Immigration will accept this.

I was in Bandon hospital,Samui having my leg amputated & hip operations. My girlfriend went to immigration with a letter from the doctor explaining my situation but they wouldn't except it, saying that Bandon was a private hospital. They only excepted letters from government hospitals.

I ended up having to get an ambulance to immigration for an extension.

    This was 4 years ago.
