  1. I don't want add fuel to the fire but, but i ve been woken up @ the at 5 am by a vigorous muessine, needless to say i ve spent my day in a very good mood ;)

Also, the longtails boat are too noisy and poluting, i remember a law which was voted a few years ago and demanded to equip boats with mufflers... with a fine and arrestation ifnot respected guess what?!

I ve never seen any muffers yet on those boats. TIT

Oh and a big PRO, is taking a cocktail with my wife at the Hill top restaurant while enjoying the sunset, that kind of place we needed in Aonang.

  2. I m running a small business since 4 years here in Aonang and i d like to get a bigger picture of the pro's and con's of the place (from both tourists or peoples living here).

    For me&wife (living here)

    pro's are:

    quiet place

    beautiful sceneries

    low rate of criminality

many nice peoples (locals and expats)

    con's:

difficulties to socialize(i guess it s the case of most expats)

    slow development

    no shopping mall,

    longtails boats(pollution, ruining the beaches)

    noisy mosque,

    from our customers:

    pros's:

    nice sceneries

    short trip to beautiful islands

cheap restaurant (not on the beach front)

    good place to chill out.

    con's:

    no shopping mall

    no decent nigthlife

dirty beach(Aonang) and even no beach at high tide

    noisy mosque

    lack of beach activities.

What do you think of Aonang ? :)

  3. It s located in the Tub Kaek area, you have to pass the Carlton Ritz hotel, then,... then if i remember good Anyavee and Amari vogue resorts, there s only one road anyway.

The national park is at the end of the road, down the hill you have a beautiful creek facing Hong islands, the trek is 3 to 4 kms in the jungle, before to reach the top of the hill.

    ;)

  4. I use CAT cdma, good signal, theorical speed 3,1mbps in Aonang and Phuket.

Good enough for me even if it s still not real 3g but consider it more like 2g++ .

ToT has an offer too, apprently True has launched its 3g network in Phuket but i didnt hear about Krabi yet.

    ;)

  5. I ve been in Thailand for 10 years and Aonang for 3 and i was wondering why the developpement of this part of Thailand(the busiest of the Krabi province i recall) was so slow?!

Ok new international hospital, bigger airpot, 2 billions bahts convention center are coming soon but will the tourists come?

Besides what makes the tourists come to Aonang?

The beach is nice with beautiful sceneries but not cleaned, no fine sand, no water sports, no seats nor umbrellas and overcrowed by the longtail boats!

So it must be considered as a hub the islands trips ok ... but 200 bahts/boat trip to reach the beautiful Pranang/Railey is worthed once in while but to get the right to access to a decent beach ...is a bit expensive at the end and dont motivate the holidaymakers.

Nightlife? A low quality soi of girlie bars, no club, .... just a few decent bars are showing up recently but just not enough to consider the nightlife attractive here...

Maybe shopping? lol perhaps at BigC , there s no shopping mall and cineplex with english version movies by the way.

Temples? humm Wat tam suea maybe

Add to that, like any other touristic places in Thailand, touts are more visible and less bearable, the tuk tuk , taxis and longtail boats rip offs ect...

Dont be wrong, i like Aonang despite my post ;) but what will be its future in your opinion?

  6. Yesterday i ve been to a nice bar in Aonang in "the Walking Street", we were a small group (7 peoples from 20 to 30 yo) and it was refreshing.

Good service, waiters very professional and speack a very good english, nice decoration... it s really a place to discover!

It s 1 more alternative to "the Soi" or the Center Point.

Sorry i don't remember the name... "Blue..." something
