  1. I disabled my EGR by blocking of one of the vacuum pipes that operates it .

Therefore not easy to spot as everything is left in place .

The CAT replaced with a straight pipe and the original I have kept, if it is ever needed again or if i sell the vehicle or what ever reason it may be needed to be fitted again and that is a very simple thing to do .

I have done about 600 odd kms with EGR disabled , also checked to see if it is not working and everthing is clean . I am happy with the fact that now my engine is getting as cleaner air as the air cleaner allows.

Fuel consumption is perhaps a bit better , but not a significant ammount.

The bottom end has increased by a small ammount , as has a bit more turbo noise from the exhaust .

All in all happy days all around .

  2. Any decent exhaust shop should do it for you. I had a Mitsubishi PJS EGR blanked off and the Cat replaced with a straight pipe a couple of years ago. The guy I used was OK but not in Pattaya.

To answer your first question, the mod made no difference to fuel consumption but helped low speed torque a little and reduced turbo lag. The Vigo does have the turbo lag like the Mitsubishi so removing the Cat may not make as much difference. None of these have DPF's..

One thing you forgot to mention is that when removing the cat on a PJS, it sounds like the turbo has been moved to inside the cabin... woooossshhh!! tongue.png

Had the cat removed and straight pipe fitted , not much of a whoosh .whistling.gif

  3. Anyone with a 2008 Vigo with disabled EGR , also get rid of the DPF , and if so where did you get it done in Pattaya region .

Another thing did your fuel consumtion suffer , or improve.

The reason I ask is i have seen quite alot of info regarding disabling EGR and removing DPF as being beneficial to engine life .

    Thoughts and experiences anyone please.

    Cheers

  4. I have a 2012 Camry. Also looked into wider tyres. Went to lots of shops and all said they could not fit tyres any wider than 215 . I wanted 225's . Also tried to get 215/65 R16 and after all the hassle settled for 215/60 R16 Michelin Pilots . Found them to be way way better than the original Bridgstone Turanza's , a lot quieter and better ride .

  5. I use C.C. just if the road is clear ahead , not that is often here , also where the speed limit is 120 , but that is also hard due to the other road users having no idea about safe driving and using lanes for overtaking etc.

All in all it's pretty useless here in Thailand , as others have said , tend to spend alot of time making adjustments to speed trying to predict what some peanut in front is going to do . Mostly just easier to drive according to trafic conditions .

  6. On a lot of Toyota land cruisers I have noted the same thing and it is the lubricant that is used to stop the metal part and visor seizing . Hot sun spreads the lubricant . Then if in a dusty environment it sticks to the lubricant and creates an unsightly stain , easily removed with a wet soapy cloth . No BS despite previous posts pointing to other causes .

  7. To the OP I have a 2011 hybrid. With all the fruit . Have to say I don't think the gps is much good in using . I much prefer my old garmin nuvi . As for the hybrid economy , well you have to drive like a saint to keep that meter in the Eco zone . I am. Not a saint . Quite a heavy car and feel its underpowered . All that aside it is. Very comfortable inside . If users to buy another Camry , I would go for one not hybrid and no gps . DVD etc or stereo I would pay for . Hope that helps you . It is only my opinion though and we all have one . Cheers .
