  1. I worked for a japanese company before. I started at 7am and left at 7pm. All the japaneses staff were there before I arrived and left after I did.. It is the Japanese way,, no one dare leave before the boss does..

But,, for hard work, they pay well, after you fit into the office..Good bonuses too..

However you do seem to be being taken advantage of..if you think you are working to long hours,Go home earlier..., stick to your job desrciption.

Or talk to whoever employed you and ask them if its appropriate to ask for pay rise.. Maybe thye are testing you.. also the Japaneses way,,

yes, you're completely right! my boss get to the office around 7 and left the office around 9-10pm and so do i.

i dont think im taken advantage but the more they put me more work the more i have learn.

i stop thinking about my boss assign me too much work. in contrast, it's the challenge......yeah...in the japanese way.

  2. I do not know if this description fits the op's position or not. I did note that she is answering comments made on the topic during working hours. I would need a lot more info to be able to give any assessment of the conditions, etc.

im sure i cant surf the internet in the office hour if im at my office

but waiting for the queue for 2 hours at BOI was something boring so i just come by here.

  3. >I hear it day in day out how my staff need a payrise and how hard they work. What they dont see is how many breaks they take, how many days off they have and how sloppy their work is. As a manager, I step in and complete their work, repair their work and take over their task when they are sick or off with the girls chatting about nonsense.

This is Thailand, but working for a proper international company means that you have to work. I un-train my Thai staff, then train them up to be efficient. Its sad, but that's how it is. All of my Thai staff are now little powerhouse workers, who now have a bright future. Any employee who takes them on will be happy at their performance.

Perhaps you have so much to do because of all the mistakes that need fixing. I know my staff when they start are told to work back until they fix the mistakes or complete a task that should have been finished hours ago.

I have been working in Thailand for 7 years now and I know what its like. It very frustrating having staff who want more but don't produce quality.

One thing for sure... I wouldn't hire someone who is being bitchy on a forum... I could imagine how much bitching you do with other staff members... you must drive them crazy with your whining !

Ihave 5 days incentive leave, 30days sick leave a year.

I'm happy for you having such a good/ efficient (or whateveru say) employee

I know it wouldn't been that difficult if I just do my job(secretary) and don't care about theother one.

Been here for 7 year? Are you Japanese? I've been working inJapanand the State for a year and I know what its culture like. It's obviously verydifferent.

Me? Bitch? Excuse me boss, would you mind describe how bitchI am? Im here for just ask a boss likeyou if it make sense enough to ask for the promotion.

So what are you doing here, BOSS?

  4. Wait until you have been working for 120+ days (after Probationary period) By law you are then a permanent employee.

Ask for a written Job description

Also are you on a Work Visa? or are you a local?

22k is ok for you first job out of college but you need to be compensated for the OT either by getting accumulated extra time off (extra paid vacation time)

    http://www.business-...i_labor_law.htm

    handy information

my pro period had been terminated and im now with permanent contract.

    I am Thai

  5. Well, yes but 12-14 hours a day 6 days a week is excessive and you will burn out sooner rather than later, regardless of your age.

i think im kinda ok of what im doing now.

i would have nth to do if i work approximately time.

i dont like to go out/ shopping/ hang around/ clubbing.

plus, just broke up with my bf bcuz of my extreme working hours and many stupid reason.

    so.. i enjoy working!!

just sometimes it piss me off when some stupid people want me to help them out while im super busy X(

but im young, more power to learn new thing! LOL

  6. Thank you khonjianghai for your advise.

But I booked the round trip ticket with Sombat Tour already :(

I will arrive Chiang Rai around 4 in the morning so what should I do while waiting for other people in 8am?

    any recommend?

and I also have to wait for the bus back to bkk on 17th around 8pm.

i might have 4 hours available before leaving Chiang Rai.

by the way, i went to Chiang Rai last year for volunteering in early morning and I just had a great coffee around Por Khun Meng Rai monument.

and that was all i do before leaving to the mountain.

  7. From my experiance ive notice and know many datless single eduacted working thai girls, there are bars and there are bars...for your friend she should go up market bar wise thats if theres any in your area, plenty in BKK.

To be honest if i were a woman i wouldnt want to meet guys hanging around girly or low class joints, join clubs and do internet dating ...go to concerts...just live a normal life and stop hunting...then it just might happen.

  8. farang or Thai boss?

how much are you making now?

    Cheapskate Japanese

i got 22k plus OT and others allowance

Personally, I'd suggest you wait until the 9 month mark and then ask for a salary increase and a new job title. If it isn't given then become unwilling to work OT and start looking for another job. If they fire you for not working the OT you will be due a month's severance.

yeah, that what i thought, let's see for several months, see how im gonna deal with the situation. it's kinda challenge for me tho. none of my friends working 3-in-1 as im doing :D

im trying to work as much as i can so that i can take the training! :)

  9. Unless you want to quit the job you should keep a positive attitude and grow with the company. However, you are being worked very hard so you may have two options: Be positive and find some excuse to not be at the job every night. For instance a sick relative or perhaps you are taking class in HR, etc. to better help the company. Number two explain you would like to have an assistant and then you can transfer some of the work to the assistant particularly in the evenings. For instance you could say pay me 40k for HR and hire assistant rather than paying me 50k without assistant and together you can get more done.

Let us know how you make out.

im 80% positive of what im doing now. another 20% goes with fussy employee . deal with my bossy boss cause me headache enough.

but i don't want to quit the job. cuz i like it here except when people want me to do things for them as an admin.

im thinking about to go for training which my boss asked me to go too but i can not find my available schedule LOL

i used to have an assistant for a month and she just quit the job yesterday :(

  10. i was offer in the position of japanese speaking secretary in this company and been working here for 4 months as a fresh grad girl.

but the job description doesn't match with what i'm doing now. HR and admin staff had been resigned when i first came here and i have to take their job. (without training)

so that means i have to take care of my boss as an MD secretary and also take care of everybody in the company as HR.

i work from 8 till 9-10 almost everyday and sometimes have to work on saturday.

Once i was admitted to the hospital due to stomach problem and restless. and several time i have to see the doc because im really sick of work :(

i tried to talk to my boss to hire the actual HR and the word i always get from him is ''anny i see you can do it''

i'm kinda curious if i keep continue doin this job, i should have the promotion. here's the comparison from the old staff they used to work here

    secretary ; 30k

    HR ; 50k

    admin staff ; 21k

    so im kinda 3-in1.

what i concern now is, the comp is gettin bigger, more biz expand, more employee more job. i would sleep for 4-5hours a day soon :(

my probation period had been terminated a months ago and my boss was kinda put me more and more job.....im dying

what should i do? any boss here suggest me? what do you think boss?

  11. make sure you ask them if the food doesn't cook with Naam Pla (fish sauce), (Sauce Hoi)oyster sauce and sort of these seasoning.

please enjoy various fresh vegetable and fruit in thailand! :D

FYI ; Pom pen Mang Sa Wi Rat = I am a vegetarian.

  12. my intention waskind of academic way but it seems dramatically emotional here. I don'treally care about how my coworker gonna get the rich farang or whatever. LOL

Like you mentionedabout the various type of people, this issue tended to be illogical. That's all clear formy curiousness at this moment.

I think you were asking why rich guys pick bar girls. I have to admit I have wondered the same myself. Where I live there are a lot highly paid expats working for multinational companies and a lot of the young ones have bar girls as significant others.

Sex is important to a man and sex is a learned skill much like typing or brain surgery. People who have little experience with sex think it is a natural talent like a reflex action but people with much experience know it is a skill like playing football it takes practice.

Also there is a difference between cultures and the perception of color. In the west a bronze complexion signifies health and a pallid white complexion signifies illness that is why western people tan. I think women with broad shoulders, wide hips and dark skin are sexy. I think thin shouldered skinny white women with no hips or butt look sick.

  13. @berkshire I'm quite don't understand but….the conclusionwould be many - guys or women are different, so it's hard to find out the answer formy question.

    I assumed for the case ''some working woman arenot the type for rich farang'' because ;

    1. working women have kind of huge ego and theydisplay guys as "Jerk" qualities. - high ego

2.Guys want to be the king/winner/no one beat me – high ego

3.bar girls, alright, whatever you say – low ego

    Hypothesis;

    highego+ high ego = disaster

highego + low ego = compromise

i'm not serious about this issue but it can be serious for some reason

but not for me now or maybe i can inform my coworker for more info

she really need to stop looking for mr. right guy or she wont date anyone LOL

thank you for the journal, will read it the way home..out of work now..booo long day today!

  14. @dean999 i was confused why most of rich farang guy date with the thai lad they met at the bar.

Thanks, that's a bit easier to understand. Your ''logic question'' appears to be Thai logic, as I perceive it.

For a Farang, Thai logic is regarded by many, as having very little meaning, from a western viewpoint.

I am therefore of the impression, your real question is,

'' Should a respectable Thai woman go to a bar, to meet a rich Farang ??''

yes! that was what i'm gonna say! LOL

just want to know the ''reason'' WHY

    like....logical not emotional

Do you really believe that a wealthy, successful, confident, self-respecting man would go seek his future wife in bars?

well, it was my fault saying a bar girl. i was trying to say those hang out with ''girls they met at the bar''

I do think some of those marry with girl they met in the bar. as i can see my cousin. she works day job tho. LOL

  15. The reason why so many farangs meet their future Thai wives in bars is because that is where all the traffic is. Farangs can't speak Thai and the only women they meet who can speak English are the women who work in the tourist sector... such as bars. There have been LOTS of good marriages between farangs and Thai bar girls. I know of at least 5 myself. Some were my ex girl friends who are now happily married ot blokes from England and Australia.

I think Ian pretty much nailed it. Bargirls are much more proficient in English than the average Thai girl because their livelihood depends on it. And the fact that BG's are much more accessible and easier to get in the sack certainly plays a role. What the OP needs to understand is that men are not real complicated animals--they don't much care how wealthy or educated women are. Physical attractiveness and accessibility are way more important traits. Other things like honesty and compatibility goes without saying.

I do have a question for Ms. Annilicious (interesting moniker): So farang men date and marry bargirls and otherwise "lo-so" Thai women. So what? Why does this bother you? Why does it matter to you either way? (Note: Please do not give a cop-out answer like "oh, I'm just curious." You obviously started this thread because it matters to you).

i would say i was the one looking for a date if i were at the age of my coworker but im not.

Curious? yes. i think this is unreasoning consistently to come to a conclusion.

i'm trying to understand the situation that should be involved logical thinking to call for structure or relationships between facts and for chains of reasoning that ''make sense''
