  1. Can anybody explain the purpose of this please. What does it do? What is it for? And why do I need to press it once a month? Please be gentle with me I know nothing..............
  2. Thanks, I'm currently trying to find a UK forum. Any pointers please?
  3. Looking on the bright side....... the good news is that if my new passport did not come through in time I would still be able to get my Visa extension while waiting for it. Last time (10 years ago) it was a fairly simple process done by post.
  4. Thanks for the information (subsequently confirmed by Ubonjoe) Yes, it is a British passport, unfortunately. My next question, on another forum will be about UK passport renewal.
  5. My passport expires in April 2023 My Visa extension based on marriage is due January 6 2023 I am assuming but not absolutely certain, that in order to extend the Visa I need six months validity on a passport. Is that correct? Would be grateful if someone could confirm this one way or another.
  6. A few years ago I was bitten by a dog. I was advised to go to the hospital for a course of injections. It took about three weeks to complete and cost me just under 4000 Bht. Government hospital. On two occasions when I went, there was a Thai child who had also been bitten by dogs. Their treatment was free, of course, but this must happen virtually every day and must be costing the health service a fortune.
  7. General reply to everyone. Thanks for your contributions. NancyL: The number that the bank gave as a contact takes you to to the same switchboard as 1333. NancyL and harry94: My local branch has never been very helpful with regard to Internet banking which they seem to see as a completely different service and nothing to do with them. Ohyesuare: That is also my experience, the wait times are ridiculous. KhunBENQ: I have no problem logging in the error message comes as soon as I attempt to transfer. I'm looking into your advice about using another device/browser.
  8. Anybody else having this problem? I have been trying for 5 days to make a regular monthly transfer from my account. I received the following message We are sorry. The service is currently unavailable. Please try your request again later. If this problem persists please contact our Bualuang Phone Customer Service Representatives at 66 0-2645-5555 for further assistance. UI-05 I phoned this number and navigated through endless menus and after more than 20 minutes waiting,I still had not received a reply. At this point I gave up. So the contact number is useless the “service” non-existent. I do all my banking online these days which makes the situation all the more frustrating. I have emailed them three times and still have not received the courtesy of a reply. Is it just me?
  9. I always make a detailed report after I've done Visa extension for reference the following year since it is easy to forget small details. However, in my experience they change the rules (make up new ones) year by year. I always used to think it was worth going well in advance in case of any problems. However, one year they decided there was a problem with my rental agreement. When I protested, they said, well you still have 10 days before your visa expires, so go and sort it out. The last couple of years I have found them to be somewhat more amenable. Possibly to do with there being fewer foreigners in the country.
  10. Thanks Joe I didn't know that. (About the overstay) I was also trying to find out if they might be extra busy before or after a long holiday or possibly quiet.
  11. Has anybody experience of Visa extensions over Christmas and New Year period? My Visa needs extending before January 15 and I usually leave it until two or three days before. My bank balance has been above the required amount since October 29 so theoretically I could go on December 29. My wife is saying they’ll be very busy as they are closed from 31 onwards. Is it better to wait until after the New Year holiday? Any suggestions gratefully received.
  12. Hua Hin owes its very existence to the fact that Bangkoknies have always bought properties there. So, the story is a bit like: "Londoners Buy Flats In Brighton. Shock."
  13. Many thanks for posting this, especially the phone number. It's very much like the sort of response I was getting to my emails to the same office. The problem seems to be that once Expatvac have forwarded the registered names to the local health office, it's out of their hands. Each local health office appears to be working to their own set of rules, hence the discrepancies and imbalances across the country. So, it doesn't help much but maybe it's nice to know we (the forgotten few) are not alone.
  14. I posted this on another thread but it's worth re-posting it here just for information. I thought readers of this thread might be interested in an update. Having drawn a blank on trying to contact the Korat vaccination centre. I decided to pay them a visit. I wanted to set my mind at rest that they had my name and correct contact details on their list. It is on the fourth floor of Central Plaza. It was immediately apparent that there were no farangs. There were what seemed like thousands of Thais queueing up at various points without any social distancing .To say the area was overcrowded is an understatement, in fact, it was borderline chaos. I really don't understand why such an operation could not be organised at an outdoor/semi-outdoor venue. If this virus is as contagious as everybody says it is, then they were simply asking for trouble forcing people to to wait for hours in a confined area. The staff were helpful in the circumstances and I found out that they did indeed have my contact details but no Pfizer vaccines were currently available. They thought that it might be about two weeks before any new supplies arrived. I had a number of other questions for them, for example, why had I not been previously contacted given my advancing years? And how many foreigners had already being vaccinated? But I really didn't want to hang around in there, so close to so many people. So I'm still waiting, fingers crossed. I wonder how many other 70-year-olds are still waiting?
  15. Perhaps you would like to give more details. I registered with expatvac on 10th August. I am not aware of any other "opportunities" I am still waiting despite being 69. My wife has only just received her first SinoPharm shot.
  16. I did try the link you sent me (Thank you) but once I had registered my details it told me it was full. Re-registering at expatvac is pointless. I am already on the computer system. I went and checked on Monday. They told me there was no Pfizer vaccine available and they were not expecting any for at least two weeks.
  17. Consider yourself lucky. I'm still waiting for my first one. (Korat) Went into the vaccination centre on Monday and was told I would have to wait a minimum of two weeks!

    Korat vaccinations

Unfortunately it does not seem that Bangkok Hospital Korat is offering a similar service.

    Korat vaccinations

Many thanks. Yes I had the same sort of reaction from the hospital. I think it's quite likely that they are vaccinating everyday (for Thais at least) and using whatever vaccine is available. I might try and re-register with a different email address and see if that works.

    Korat vaccinations

I have already contacted [email protected] They told me to call the hospital. The hospital told me that they were vaccinating people every day at Central Plaza, which I find hard to believe. Which is why I'm trying to contact the vaccination centre find out what is actually happening.

    Korat vaccinations

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did get confirmation and, yes I have been checking all junk mail. How do I call the vaccination centre at Central Plaza? Does anybody have a phone number for them? As I said, if I was in the city I would just drop in, which is why I'm asking anybody in the area for advice/help.
  23. I registered on the expatvac site on August 10. I still haven’t received an email for an appointment. I was told the Mahaharat hospital was organising vaccinations so I contacted them. They didn’t seem to know much about it but said that they thought vaccinations were being given every day at Central in Korat. If I lived in the city I would just drop by and try to find out what is going on. But it’s a four hour round trip from where I live. So is there anybody living in Korat city who can throw any light on this? Are they likely to give a jab to a foreigner turning up on spec or should I continue to wait for an appointment? If anybody has any ideas or suggestions based on experience I would be more than grateful.
