Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
They won't treat an expat who can't pay. That's been shown time and time again. And as people age their need for expensive medical care increases dramatically. If one of these blokes has a stroke or another major condition, they are toast. NHS doesn't make anyone wait for 3 years if they've suffered a stroke. They are admitted to emergency immediately.

Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
This has been a policy for decade s. Immigrants have nothing to do with it, but emigrants do.

Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
Also, if you can't afford to retire abroad then you shouldn't. There is another thing these guys don't mention: At their age they cannot get health insurance in Thailand and the coverage from the NHS doesn't extend to Thailand. . If they go to the hospital for a major event, which is likely to happen once retired, they'll either drain their savings or not be able to pay. This should be a major consideration for any codger whose looking to come to Thailand to retire and fornicate their way to heaven in Pattaya

Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
"After 40 gruelling years as an electronics buyer"... who writes this stuff? Also: This isn't true: But his dream retirement turned into a financial nightmare when he discovered his UK state pension had been frozen. He didn't have his pension frozen. He just doesn't get cost-of-living increases. Big difference. he still gets his money, so I'm not sure how that is a "financial nightmare."

Former Police Chief Arraigned Over Red Bull Heir's Case Mishandling
The money goes back to Daddy Red Bull. He's the one who bribed the cops and he's the one funding his murderer son's lifestyle abroad. Sickening. I wonder if the fugitive's party pals abroad know they are associating with a killer.

Former Police Chief Arraigned Over Red Bull Heir's Case Mishandling
What I'd really like to know is why the Thai media has never attempted to track this murderer down and expose his overseas life. You know why? Because reporters in Thailand are afraid to step on the toes of the rich in their country and in this case, Daddy Red Bull. I find it strange that no Thai journalist has the stones to research, find where he is, have photographers taking pictures out on the clubbing circuit and also researching how he is getting his money. The cops should do this too and see if daddy is protecting his murderous son and then arrest him for aiding and abetting. But again. The prosecutors go after the low-hanging fruit and people with no real power.. the low-level cops, while they don't dare touch Daddy Red Bull. And after all, it was he who bribed and perhaps even threatened the cops to cease their investigation. They didn't do it on their own accord.

The headline says "Axed" which means he was fired. But he wasn't. Ya'll need to brush up on headline writing skills.

Cannabis crackdown: Only marijuana buds return to the blacklist
Pot isn't drugs. Drugs are manufactured and processed. Cannabis is a plant, hence, not a drug.

British family leaves UK for Thailand for lower costs of living
I'll say this too: This is shoddy reporting. This is written by Asean Now and the writers there should know the reality of life in Thailand. This line really stood out at me: " Jessica has applied for a visa with the Thai Immigration Bureau, signalling their intent to make this a long-term move." REALLY? You don't just apply for a visa to "signal intent to make this a long term move." There is no such visa for foreigners. There is a visa for work in their case. And they are too young to qualify for a retirement visa. And she is not married to a a Thai so no spousal visa. If she wanted to get a longer-term type visa. she has to put in many years until she can do that. You'd think the reporters in Thailand would know this.

You get what you pay for. Is it worth short-changing your kids?

British family leaves UK for Thailand for lower costs of living
The grass is always greener. They'll soon find out that they can't send their kids to local schools if they want them to get a proper education and once you factor in international school fees and the cost of buying western food and needing to buy health insurance for the family.. all those cost advantages are gone. Add a car that costs about twice as much as you'd pay in the UK, then you're looking at even greater cash outlays. Add to that the annual hassle and abuse they have to take when renewing their visas. The'll be back soon.

Officials Concerned Over Potential Overcrowding in Pattaya and Phuket
How many times have they sid this? If I had a satang for every time. If they want quality tourists why don't they ban the Russian from using their bank cards and ban Chinese tours. That'll clean things up a lot.

Couple Of F-16 Jets Join 4 Others In Patrolling Thai-Myanmar Border
Kinda a joke.. Talking big knowing that Myanmar's won't be breaching Thailand's airspace. The regime nutballs in Myanmar are not interested in starting a conflict with Thailand. They have bigger problems domestically.

ASEANNOW is Joining The Thaiger
Thaiger is a bottom feeding reporting outfit that is worse than the Daily Mail in England or National Enquirer in the US. Their reporting is awful, insensitive, replete with commentary in poor taste. Asean now will become a cesspool of garbage news.

Thailand emerges as billionaire hotspot, ranked 12th in rich list
Seems like Thaiger conflates millions and billions. What do you expect from that poor excuse for a news website, Thaiger. Their reporting is unprofessional so it makes sense they don't have proper copy editors on staff.

Jail time to return for Cannabis players as PM describes the trade as a threat to Thailand
How do you put the genie back in the bottle? There's a lot of money invested in the industry now. I know an American fellow who is advising a former Army general on growing weed upcountry. TreHe

US Kick streamer provokes brawl in Thailand
Good Catch! Do you expect any accuracy from Thaiger. The worst "news" outlet in Thailand. It should not be a source of news on this site.

US Kick streamer provokes brawl in Thailand
It's infuriating that someone like that comes to start <deleted> with people in Thailand which is peaceful and one of the safest countries in terms of violence it's disgusting. He needs to be arrested. What a D*** He is the epitome of all that is wrong with America. There are a lot of hyper aggressive people in the states. I noticed it after returning there after living nearly two decades in Bangkok.

Frenchman’s trial unveils multi-million euro Rolex replica ring
This article is so poorly written, it's hard to understand how he ran it from Thailand. The article says he oversaw production oof watches, but later says they paid $200 and sold them for $400.

British lookalikes forge unlikely friendship on flight to Thailand
THere is obviously so much more to the story than that, particularly shared hobbies that they live near each other, etc. Why be a curmudgeon? You should just enjoy a good news story instead of spreading negative vibes.

Swiss national opts for jail after assaulting Thai woman in mall
Give me a break man. If you read this site regularly, there are plenty of farang who are supposedly sullying the peoples' them. Thais continue being kind and friendly to foreigners who give them the same respect.

Thai wildfires rage across 10 provinces in northern Thailand
Thailand definitely has zero infrastructure for fighting forest fires. There is nothing in place to deal with this.
