I have a question.. I am traveling in September from BKK -> MNL (Manila) -> YVR (Vancouver) -> LAX (LA). The connecting flight from Manila has me worried as I have never been to that airport before. I have a family of 3 and only have a 1 hour layover.
From your past experiences with connecting (international) flights via Manila (to USA or Canada), what terminals did you arrive, and depart from?
Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

So, that basically means those cheap 400 baht 1800Mhz b/w nokia phones they are pushing will be no good come September.. wow, this will screw a lot of people.

Works again... Let the slacking begin!

Blocked using TOT as well. This will surely piss a LOT of people off.

and denied that he did not slap the Russian tourist.
So... He agrees that he did slapped the tourist.

RIP.
Nowhere did I read he was shot by protesters, but I do hope the individual pays for their crime.

My question maybe off topic but . . . Where do these people go? You know what I mean since there are no public toilets.
In some of the pictures over the past few days you see them holding umbrellas and is completely wet outside.. Well, this wasn't caused by the rain.

They really need to fine more than 200 baht if the police ever wish to control the ever present urge to fight that most Thai males have.

That is fantastic. I will try and find an AIS shop.

Yes, that is the new 3G sim I got, although the micro sim variant.
Currently I have been a pre-paid customer of one-2-Call for about 6 years.

I recently got a new Galaxy S4, and got my 6 year old AIS Freedom sim cut to fit it. Is there any way to subscribe to an 3G data plan with this old sim?
I got a test Freedom 3G sim from family mart and it works out of the box on 3G with > 20Mbps at times, where as my old and trusty sim can only gets 64k GSM and does not seem to have any decent data plans available. I need to continue to use my old number, but also need a 3G data plan.
What are my options?

Would be great, but it sounds more like an April 1st story to me. (Mind you, half of the stories in March should be April 1st stories too).

Pattaya One news is wrong on a few accounts - based on thai news sources.
1. The locations was Soi 16, Walking Street and not Pratamnuk Road.
2. The lady said that she hit the cancel button repeatedly to get her card back, but without luck. The screen slid out voluntarily during this process (she might have been a little heavy on the finger if you know what I mean).
3. She was able to get her ATM card back, which was lodged in the machine when it opened.
4. she wants them to review CCTV to prove she was a normal customer, and not a crook.
The original thai sources say nothing about witnesses however.
For #2, I have personally witnessed this myself with the Bangkok Bank ATMs (notably in Central Festival). They are sometimes unlocked and will slide out when pressure is placed on the keypad.

I have found that many ISPs in Thailand lie about the speedtest.net results. 3BB and True will show the correct latency, but will falsify the throughput.
It's not so much the ISPs, it just most speedtest programs which are not programmed/written in a way to prevent caching from providing skewed results.
That could be true in some cases, however the test in question is speedtest.net, and other ookla licensees. The protocol is specifically designed to work around caching server, and other 'in the middle' cachers, however there are enterprise ookla simulators that work as a man-in-the-middle for speedtest.net & family, and work as a traffic responder to mimic traffic from the destination server. We run an ISP in Canada, and have had a chance to experiment with these first hand. They do work, but they are not ethical.

This is with a 12M/1M 3BB Adsl... completely bunk results.

TOT on the other hand does not proxy the speedtest.net results, and will show accurate readings. As such, your subscribed plan is for Thailand traffic, with no guarantees on what you will get overseas. (TOT has been very honest to me about this stance, and also acknowledged their 'competitors' play tricks to calm customer complaints.
Overseas you will, at most get maybe 1-3Mbps per-stream at most times which breaks speedtest.net, and forced some ISPs to provide false readings to prevent complaints.
As an example, here is my speedtest.net results to San Francisco, CA via 3BB 12M/1M plan.

Thanks, I will look into some of these places. Siam Legal website seems to offer some of these services as well, but they refuse to reply to my emails, so time to move on and check one of these alternatives (and probably better price too).

You are correct about them being picky.. You have no idea. They did leave the translation and notary requirements rather open ended, or at least, I could not find any requirements about this aspect. I will give them a shout and see if they do in fact have a recommended list of names. With all the trouble this is ending up being for something so simple, I don't want it to be refused on some silly technicality.

I am getting my daughter her Canadian citizenship card, however I need to get some Thai documents translated to English, and certified. Are there any places in Pattaya to get this done, or do I have to resort to lengthy and frequent trips to Bangkok for this?
Thanks again.

When do you ever hear of a part of a subway system being closed so soon after it being opened. The article doesn't describe what is the actual bottleneck either.
please read the article....
While there are two train tracks for most stretches of the Skytrain system, the portion across the Chao Phraya has just one track due to limited space, thus causing a bottleneck.
... and due to limited space, it will need to build the new track where the station currently sits hence the reason for shutting it down.

Yesterday in Pattaya, we were out from about 8:40am, until 11:30am. At work, 3BB worked fine during this time. The TOT call center just rang busy too, so it must have been a serious outage.

Good points, however you must not have watched, or at least noticed the balloons as they do not have anything 'heavy' attached to them, and are tied together.
Being that the bunch of balloons do not float, and they have no stick would indicate that they are inert, standard air balloons. I highly doubt this teacher has any malicious intent.
I am not a conspiracy theorist like most on TV it seems, but rather a realist and do have an ounce of both education, and deductive reasoning.
People... watch the youtube video.. you will realize these are not hydrogen, or helium balloons. They are your run of the mill, air filled balloons. They don't float when dropped or thrown (as shown in the video).
Floating or dropping is somewhat irrelevant. Even if filled with hydrogen, the balloons could still fall if the combined weight of the actual balloon plus the weight of the shaft attached weighed MORE than the volumn of air displaced.
Basic physics guys. Not even rocket science. So the falling (or not) of the balloons does not offer proof of what they were filled with.

You may need to read from more than TV to get the whole story, however it has been stated in the thai news (and related thai websites such as Sanook), not to mention in the OP (and the news articles leading up to it) on how the confrontation began. The lady never started filming until after the initial beat down of the Irish man, and that is why he is already beading at the beginning of the video.
even though it has been stated from the start, and countless times after that, that the witness filming this only started filming after she noticed the guy being, apparently unprovoked, severely smacked over the head with something hard.
That has never been "stated", not even implied, and in fact the person who took the Video has, to my knowledge, not yet even been traced.
He / She almost certainly started taking the Video once she saw this lumpen Farang moron abusing BTS Security Staff who were simply trying to obey their instructions not to allow Balloons onto the BTS System.

With the exception of the asinine response from asanee, I do appreciate the information provided and thank you.
We are booked on PAL for the entire trip so it looks like Terminal 2 for both legs. As for booking the flight, this was done by my employer and had little choice in the matter.
