  1. "Looking abroad, you will discover that countries with higher democratic development than Thailand's have a great number of quality citizens who tend not to support any acts by any group of people that go against the national interest or could weaken the country's stability."

What a STUPID STUPID STUPID statement this is...

First of all, the "quality citizens" who are elected into parliaments MIGHT be specialized in one or other areas of governing a country / a district. For most other decisions that must be taken by parliament, those "quality citizens" will either vote along their party line or get consultancy from outsiders.

Second, as an example within the Swiss parliament, almost EVERY MP has various interest groups who consult him... health industry is know to consult around 25% of all MP's in Switzerland... Energy industry has dozends of consultants allocated around the capital city and is inviting MP's for "informational meetings" about the future of Energy Politics....

Where there is money and power involved, interest groups WILL do their best to influence politicians who will at some stage take decisions important for the rich and powerful... maybe Swiss politicians don't take us much direct money into their personal pocket (except for their election campaigns), but when you look at the various positions they hold in Boards of stock listed companies, you can easily imagine that they tend to support every act for every group whose interest they support...

  2. So I understand this and please correct me if I am wrong.... As long as Thaksin does not hold an official position he can ask his sister to do whatever he likes...

Just as long as she is the person that announces it...

All she has to say is that they discussed and she thought it was a good idea...

How do you want to prevent such "consultation" anyway, whether she is in office or not? How do you prevent ANY politician to talk with ANY consultant about what couls / should be done next? And even more... how do you prevent such discussions taking part within the immediate family?

Whether or not Thaksin might return to Thailand or stays in Dubai, no law can ever stop him from talking with his sister. Would you want to hack into the phones of every politician in order to find out whether they discuss politics? We have seen the results of such actions in England...

  3. Well, personally I assume that the endorsment of both old and new PM together is more an approach to prevent massiv uproad in either party... I would not want to imagine what would have happened if one of the two would have been endorsed and the other one not...

But what tragickingdom wrote is true: How can politicians be allowed to be elected by the voters and afterwards, dozends of them get under investigation to find out whether they should not have been on the poll list of their party...

Current EC needs to be be fired and a new one with new rules needs to be put in charge.

  4. "EC Tuesday meeting has discussed and voted on the complaint filed against Ms Yingluck who cooked fried noodle and distributed to crowd during her election campaign"

Gim'me a break! Is this really disqualifying her for her new role as PM??? What games are those people playing? Disqualifying the majority of Thai voters at the same time. All that will happen with such stupid actions is causing other riots...

Should'nt the loosers give it a break and let her show how she can do this job? Then... no later than 4 years from now, a new vote will take place and then her followers might change their mind about her qualification...
