You might own a million +++ house/car but that doesn't provide for your living expenses. I presume the 800k is there to show you can afford to live and not be a burden on Thailand. Shame the Uk doesn't do the same for all our r@pefugees.

There are no large towns nearly only Korat 130 kms or Surin 50kms. You might get some small guesthouse in the middle of nowhere.

I've got a Huawei M3 8.4in tablet, i think it's great well recommended. Not sure how much now maybe 10,000 new. Worth buying a decent one rather than throw 2-4,000 on some cheap rubbish.

My Transferwise deposits into my Bangkok Bank Savings Account show FTT on both online statements and in my bank book.
That's interesting, my Krungsri statements just show a code TN which applies to any transfer in.

At present,(until 12th Dec) the Consulate will issue a letter saying that Mr.UK.Expat told them, and showed Bank Statements to confirm, that they have a minimum of Bht 65,000 per month going into their UK (or other country) bank account. The Consular workers CANNOT go to every pension provider, rent payer, investment company etc, to verify that these figures are genuine. If there was any investigation into any 'financial irregularities' the Consulate would be legally responsible. So that's why they are stopping issuing these letters. The USA is different in that Mr. USA.Expat SWEARS that the information is genuine and if anything is found to be wrong, the Expat is responsible.
The Consulate now says that the Immigration will accept a regular deposit of at least Bht 65,000 per month into a Thai bank account, easily verified because it will say FTT (Foreign Transfer) on the bank statement or bank book. Is it that easy or not?
The Bht 800,000 for at least three months has always been and will stay as an alternative.
What is regular? I save my income in a UK bank and send it over 2 or 3 times a year when the rate is good. Is that regular or do they expect monthly income. Also i use Transferwise to transfer the money which (as i understand it) is deposited via another thai bank so would not show up as a FTT.

The big problem is accommodation. Unless you get in quick there is nowhere to stay within 100 kms.

I have the Huawei M3 8.4 and it's a great tablet. Well recommended. Best place to buy the M5 i guess is Lazada. Good prices delivered to your door. I am thinking of buying the 10.8 M5 as well.

Foreigners can certainly buy tickets and i won a small amount 2000 baht and was paid out. If you won the jackpot though might be a problem.

I buy my 80 slice packet in Macro for under 400 Bt. ..Does me fine for a sandwich.
I buy my 84 slice 1kg cheese at Food Mart for 265 baht. OK for cheese burgers and sandwiches. Normal cheese is just unaffordable, like wine.

3BB offers an 8% discount if you pay in advance for 12 months of service. They also include some kind of promotional gift. A few months ago it was a carry-on bag.
Yes i always pay 12 months in advance and get the discount. It's not such a big amount and saves messing about every month. It's not like there are any alternatives so unlikely to ever switch from 3 BB.

Personally i would avoid Naklua. Most of the condos are a long walk from the baht bus route and are even further from the night life areas of WS and Soi Buakhao. Keep to the second road routes from say the VT buildings near Jomtien as far as Central Marina, north Pattaya. You are right to avoid any areas that require taxis.

Transferwise should really have tiered fees, their scale means transfers over 2000 euros are best avoided. What muppet will transfer a million euro and pay a 4000 euro fee
If using TW gets you an extra 0.4 baht on the exchange rate then the million euros saves you 400,000 baht which more than covers the 4000 euro fee. Currently TW offer a rate of 38.57, Krungsri Bank offer 38.17 on TTs.

Same here, 3BB came out straight away. They said the problem was my router which they were able to fix. Back up to speed. Well done 3BB.

Same here, my 3BB has slowed and most days it flickers on and off several times a day. Annoying if i am downloading something.

No way. Not possible.
You can't select Thai Baht to be sent.

Yes that seems odd. When you transfer Sterling to Thailand they pay baht into your thai account. Why can't they pay Sterling into your UK account the other way. It would reduce their net transfers to Thailand.
-
Just out of interest has anyone tried to use Transferwise to move money from Thailand abroad, to say the UK. As no money actually leaves Thailand i presume there would be no issue in repatriating funds.

Who wears a watch now with a mobile phone telling you the time. Who cares what other people think about you if you wear an expensive watch. Just tape a 1000 baht note to your shirt, thais will respect you more.

I can't understand why anyone would travel 6-10,000 miles to Pattaya and then decide to live on the Dark Side. No shops, restaurants, a go gos, a few dull bars and no beach. It never had any sparkle.

The problem i have found with Shoppe is that their website seems to be only in thai, which is why i would never use them.

The problem in Britain so it seems is that the state pension is so low ,many of todays OAPs have to work to make ends meet .
They had 40+ years to prepare for retirement. Surely most people would have other financial plans rather than rely on a known low state pension.

Prayut needs to raise the money for the Subs and as very few Thais drink wine it's fair game.
The problem is a lot of farangs will stop drinking wine at these prices, or cut back, so he could end up with less tax revenues. They must have sold a shed load of Mont Clair previously but i doubt anyone buys it now.

A few plastic bags is nothing compared to the billions of single use plastic bottles that are thrown away every year.

I just bought a dash cam on LAZADA, paying COD.
It arrived today the driver would not let me open the package before I paid.
I cancelled the order. I have 2 more orders coming this week and they will both be cancelled.
I have spoken to LAZADA about it & they tell me that its the policy of Kerry Express.
Was that the outer packaging which i usually remove to check i have been sent the right item. I can understand why you are not allowed to remove the inner packaging as it makes it unsellable if you then refuse to accept it. Why would you want to remove the inner packaging anyway as it tells you nothing about whether the item will work OK. Lazada have good return policies should you have a subsequent problem.

Gold shops suffer lack of cash as people rush to sell their jewellery

I am surprised that gold shops are open during this crisis. Hardly essential. Why are they allowed to stay open?
