What happens when it rains? does it leak in through all the holes?

I think there will be a major crisis with the euro over the next 6-12 months. At some point the markets will force Greece and/or others to leave the euro and there will be an almighty crunch. The euro will have to fall then so i would say change what ever you can NOW. Some people have said gold is not a good long term investment, probably right, but it will still have a value when the euro crashes.

Could you please expand on this. Which interest groups benefit? Why, for example, does the new minimum 300 baht a day wage not help the poor in Thailand?

I thought when you hired a car you had to give credit card details so the rental firm will automatically charge you for any unpaid fines.

Boots are very expensive for everything. Basically they charge western prices. Best avoided unless you can't get it elsewhere.

i love talking about living expenses for some strange reason
rent 2 bed 2 bath 62sqm pool side apartment in hua hin - 13,300b
bills inc internet 2800b
food - shop at villa for a few things - maybe 4000b
eating out - 6000b
entertainment - 8000b
car insurance, petrol, valeting 4500b
i live alone
38,600b a month
I think this is very good if you can live on 25k a month (excluding rent). My budget is similar but there are many other small things which seem to add up. Mobile phone, condo maintenance, birthday/xmas presents, dentist, pharmacy, laundry, clothes, visas, small household items. For me that adds another 10k a month onto the budget. The big one of course is women, some months it is as much as the rest put together. How do you budget for that?

QED
I'm thinking of doing the same as you and i am another dummy at tech. I would be most grateful if you could give a step by step guide after you have set up your wireless router (I am with 3bb too).
Did you buy the router at 3bb as some suggested or at Tukcom? Do you still get the same download speeds?
Thanks

We have a similar problem in my condo with unpaid common fees. The legal advice from our management company is that after a certain time, i think 1-2 years, we can apply to the Court to enforce a sale of the condo and collect any unpaid fees from the proceeds.

Yet another reason I cancelled and switched to Astro. Just as good programming and cheaper. If you are within Astro's footprint I'd highly recommend a switch.
Have you got any details of Astro, what price, does it cover Pattaya, what direction the dish faces etc
Hat Yai

I recently booked a flight to Hat Yai to get away from the Songhran madness in Pattaya next April. But having looked for a hotel there seems to be very little available in Hat Yai or Songhla, certainly compared to the hundreds available around Krabi. Does anyone know of a good hotel in that area (at a reasonable price). My only alternative seems to be to hire a car and stay around Krabi.
