  1. Understand your frustration and wanting to try to get info but one really shouldn't complain in your situation given the hardships so many are having to endear during this crisis .... really doesn't compare to your inconveniences while driving your car.

Anyway ... I'm pretty sure this is a link to live videos of most of the major roads but for some reason I cannot pull it up right now (never had this issue with not loading before) http://www.traffy.in...raffy/index.php

Thanks for the link, but talking of inconveniences, i can not see the point in not informing tourists and expats with such information, Last week i drove into a flooded area on the motorway with no sign of warning or diversion. This does not make any thing better to let people drive around in blindness when the info is available on some desk somewhere. Last week the US Embassy had a good list of closed roads.

  2. I have been living here only for 8 month now and must say that any information for tourist or expats has been non existent. Any country i know of would have some english information website or news channel about the situation, with maps showing closed roads and flooded areas in a situation like there is now and the past month. Any time i have to go to the center of bangkok, my gf screams and shows me the footages on TV and call me stupid. I ask her for information and get nothing other than Bangkok is flooded. Actually it seems that nobody in this country is well informed and asking questions and information is impolite.

  3. Is there a website showing which roads are open or closed for circulation ?

I am tired of guessing my way around, having to turn back on a motorway to Bangkok because it is over flooded and left open for traffic by the police with no warning (yes trucks would be able to pass). Info here on thaivisa referring to police stating exactly how many roads and motorways are closed, tells me they know well about it. So where is that website with the maps and the road info ? I have been looking for 4 weeks now for such.

  4. Why did you find 304 to be a problem in the first place. I came over it from the highway 24 junction south of Korat down to Jomtien this afternoon (Tuesday). Dry as a bone and surprisingly quick - not one long grinding queue and I was in Kabinburi within 90 minutes of leaving highway 24. The south bound passage seems to be quicker than the northbound passage if lorries were the issue. Try it at lunchtime - maybe all the heavy traffic had stopped to eat when I came through!

If it was the roads leading to 304 at Kabinburi that were the problem try going further south to say Chachongsaeo and come back into BKK on the Chonburi-BKK motorway.

A long way of saying: no I can't tell you a better route and my guess is that there isn't one while the roads in the Central Plains area unreliable for flooding and the Khao Yai route being an even longer way over the hills.

No I didn't find 304 to be a problem besides being stuck for 3 hours at the Hills between Kabinburi and Korat, because of an accident there. This was just bad luck.

I just asked to know if something might be better. It is impossible to get any information anywhere else and I haven't yet figured out if there is a website dedicated to the road and traffic situation in thailand.

I'll go again for the 304. Thanks.

  5. Had to drive from Bangkok to Korat yesterday. I guessed highway 1 would be closed and knew there was some flooding in saraburi. I chosed to drive a bit south on highway 7 to near Chachoengsao and then take route 304 all the way to Korat.

No water flood problems in that route, beside being stuck 2-3 hours in the mountain pass after Kabin Buri, with all those trucks trying to pass there.

What i regret is to be totally unable to get any info on which road is open and which is closed. with information like 595 damaged rural roads, 163 impassable some officials know how the road situation is. so where is the map? where is the link to the website with the info.

It is stupid to have no info on those matters, sending people on the road just to be stuck and make the situation even worth.

  6. Now i read in another thread that you can't get a work permit registering your company in a virtual office. the premisses must be large enough for the you and the 4 thai staff, legal authorities dept. come and inspect the premisses. On my previous workplace, we had to supply pictures of offices premisses.

All this makes me ask, can you at all start a business registering the company in a virtual office?

How come is a virtual office legal if it is supposed to have room enough for 5 people?

I'm sorry if i now ask this in 2 threads.

  7. I am also registering a new business after i had a disagreement with my previous partner and lost my work permit and visa on that account.

Now i am in the process or registering a new business and applying for the work permit. The function of my business doesn't need a big office,

i therefore was suggested to use a virtual office for company registration.

What confuses me with the info in this thread is as said and as far i know:

    • you can not get a work permit if the office is not large enough to host you and 4 Thai Staff.

    • some thai legal authority dept. might come and inspect the premisses.

On my previous workplace, we had to supply pictures of offices premisses.

All this makes me ask, can you at all start a business registering the company in a virtual office?

How come is a virtual office legal if it is supposed to have room enough for 5 people?

  8. if you can't afford to pay between 1500 to 2000 per month then perhaps better not start a company

google for virtual office bangkok; a virtual office provides you a place where you can registered a company

I never said that, I was willing to use 5000 a month, as i want to share a second location with other colleagues. But by Thai law you can not have 2-3 independent businesses using same registered address. I will see what i can find on virtual office. Still, is it legal ?

  9. what is your home address ? a room or a building ? have you registered for VAT ?

if you are renting a building eg a house, the landlord's permission is required to registered the premises as the registered address of the company

I come from employee in a small business with registered VAT, i stopped there to start my own business, in the process i lost my work permit & visa, nothing wrong with that. I just relocated to Bangkok, got new B visa and in the process to register the company which is VAT registered.

I just need facilities for an office which by the nature of the services i offer won't be needed much, and i don't want to waste money in something not relevant to my business.

I live in an apartment and know you can't use it as registered address of company.

  10. I am setting up my own business in Thailand, and have a couple of things i want cleared out.

As my job happens on different location all the time, as well as meeting clients. I don't really need any office.

Actually it could be my home address. but this is not possible by law, as far as i know.

I believe Thai law says i have to have a business address, an office.

I can't share office with colleagues as i must have a renting contract with the landlord, or they have to share with me and be Thai,

otherwise the company has to be upgraded in registered capital.

Is it true that the contract must be of one year? or can it be less.

I simply don't want to waste money on premisses that i won't really use other than getting my post mail.

As far i understand, the landlord have to pay taxes on the rental of the premisses to make my business address valid and this can be

a problem to find if you are looking for something cheap, ie. one which would be rented to a small thai business.

Just wanted to hear others opinion on this.

    Thanks

  11. dtaanic did you happen to watch that four-hour seminar they recently aired live on Thai Visa from Pattaya ?

They had four judges from the Pattaya Criminal Court answering questions about the legal system in Thailand.

From my interpretation of what one of the judges said in the seminar it may be possible that the court

itself would be prepared to review your circumstances and tell you if you have a good case or not

before you get involved in a lengthy case. Or you could ask your lawyer to do this for you.

It's worth asking anyway because no one likes to be cheated no matter how much is involved.

The other thing is you could ask if what your partner did to you constitutes an " economic crime "

which is more serious in Thailand than some other countries. In other words as well as initiating a civil

action to try to recover your money, what ever your partner did to you may also constitute fraud and

could fit into the " economic crime " category in which case I don't think

your partner would want that hanging over him? at the very least you could use it against him as a strong

    bargaining tool

Anyway don't give up and get the best lawyer you can and very good luck to you.

No I didn't se the 4 hour seminar, is it still viewable?

Talking about economic crime, I don't know either. Not wanting to pay back 5 month of rent, and make me invest in the company without making me shareholder, changing figures after the contract was signed and threatening loos of work permit and visa if i didn't pay. My lawyer says the case is simple and obvious.

Asking if my lawyer is good, well I hope so. First i talked to 3,4 thai lawyers not very prominent in English, they mostly said yes to everything i wanted to hear. At last i seeked advice within other expats with many years in the country.

A very reputable one, with 30 years experience in the country advised med his lawyer from Bangkok.

  12. I am more or less in the same situation, I am claiming back 800.000 THB from a farang scammer who cheated me while overtaking the management of his business.

I have a work permit, 1 year B Visa. I am suing him now, the process can take a year or two . Maybe i should have gone to the police station first and file a complaint.

It looks like a little journey behind bars would help putting some pressure on him.

  13. I am rather new foreign citizen in thailand, been here permanently only 6 month. Before i knew the country only as a tourist with a total of 7 month if you add up the months i stayed here.

6 month ago i became a business partner to another farang who lived here 7 years. He is perceived as a good citizen in the area and have apparently never had problems with the law in thailand. After a couple of month i find out that some things are completely wrong contract wise with my business partner who arranged all the legal paperwork for me with his law office. I use some time to find a good lawyer and consult a couple of other. They all say i have to Sue my now ex business partner and the case is very clear. I can only win the case.

I have a claim of 700.000 Bath, a lawsuit will cost me around 100.000. I just have to figure out if it is worth it. I am not rich, Even if i win the case I might not get what i claim back. but I don't really want to let him go around and smile just like that.

just want to hear others opinion on the Thai justice system? does it work, are judges trustworthy persons or are they as corrupt as the police are ?

    Nic
