  1. Hi to all,

I got my retirement visa a few days ago. Now I want to get my two daughters (15 and 11 yrs old) dependent visas. The 15 yrs old went to school and had a student visa until Dec. 1st 2011 and now she is homeschooling. The 11 yr old is going to school but as of now didn't have any visa except for the tourist visa which expired long ago. I heard from a multi children mother here in Bangkok that they don't make trouble upon departure for children up to 14 yr old.

So today I went to the Chang Wattana Immigration office trying to explain what I need. It took the officer a few hours to consult about the matter (both of my daughters are overstayed) plus she called the school manager and had a long conversation with him. I did not understand any of it, but finally she gave me a form explaining what I should do.The form explained what I should do for becoming a guardian for a child in an educational institution. That includes showing a bank account for the amount of 500,000 tb.

Now, I thinkd she got me all wrong, since I don't need any visa for myself. She said to come back on Tuesday with both the girls and then she'll consult about the 15 yr old.

I don't know if it's right, but heard that when leaving the country you pay up to 5000 tb as a fine. maybe it's best to leave it as is? we will be leaving the country in July for a month.

    Any ideas?

    I'll appreciate any comment.

    Thanks

  2. Where do you live? You must apply there. You also must have a non immigrant visa entry to apply. It is very simple and no lawyer is required and if you qualify they are happy to approve. If children are under age 20 and living with you they can obtain dependent extensions of stay under section 2.20 of police order 777/2551

I live in Bangkok and my daughters are under 20 and live with me, so I guess no problem there. I was told at the changwattana emigration office that first I'll have to cxl my gaurdian visa at the place it was issued which is Samutprakan. that was done through a lawyer. So do I really have to go there myself and cxl, and then go again for the retirement visa to changwattana?

    Hi to all,

I have been living in bangkok for the last 1 year and 5 months and have two daughters. one of them is attending International school. Up to now I had a gaurdian visa based on my daughter's student visa. My visa expires at the end of December. I now want to change it to retirment visa. The guardian visa was issued in Samutprakan though I did my 90 day report in Bangkok changwattana. I was told at Bangkok emigration that I would first have to cancel my existing visa in Samutprakan and then to apply in the Chang wattana emmigration. So my question is: Has anybody done something similar so I'd know not to do stupid things? do I need a lawyer for that or is it that easy? can they deny? and after I've done this could my daughters be my dependents? all that consisting on the fact that I already have an embassy letter showing my income.

    Thanks
