  1. Hi all, apologises if this has been posted recently. I am looking for some SPD compatible shoes for riding my mountain bike. I am not keen on the more traditional bike shoes and prefer the skate / trainer / approach shoe style.

Where sells these in Thailand. I've seen some on Lazada but all out of stock. Any decent shops with online ordering or Facebook / line?

    Many thanks.

  2. 1600 baht fine this morning in Jomtein, because my wife "failed" to report me coming home back in November. I went in to get a 60 day extension to my Non Imm O marriage visa, and the first step was reporting my address. Apparently this should be done every time a foreigner enters the Kingdom by the property owner. We've never done it previously and nothing has ever been said on exiting the Kingdom.

  3. Today is definitely a public holiday in Malaysia.

To the OP the Embassy in KL only issue something like 150 visas per day. If you are not there early before the doors open with all the correct paperwork you will not be able to apply. The last time I went to KL, 45 minutes after opening the doors they stopped anymore visa applications that day.

Yes, its a 2 day process, apply in the morning then go and pick up the following afternoon.

  4. I recently went to Vientiane to renew mine. I took everything I needed as per their website and then found out that Multiple entry Non Imm O visas are apparently no longer issued outside of Thailand. That was straight out the mouth of the lady at the desk in the Consulate. I ended up paying 2000 baht for a single entry.

I've since made enquires and "apparently" the issue of multiple entry visas has been stopped. What I was advised to do was, get a multiple entry permit issued from immigration valid until the expiry date of the single entry visa. Then once I get close to the three month expiry date, apply for a 12 month multiple entry extension to the single entry visa.

For the last 6 years I have had no issues getting multiple entry non imm o visa based on marriage this is the first time I have been told they no longer issue them.

  5. Not sure if this is the correct place to post this......

I am selling my family life membership at Eastern Star. Asking price is 110,000 THB, buyer pays the transfer fee. This is a full life membership, if you are walking it is 350 THB a round, buggies are extra plus caddie tip. This is for a family and includes use of the facilities there swimming pools, gym, tennis courts etc.

Anyone interested please send me a PM on here.

    Thanks for reading.

  6. A few of us played it today. Carts are no longer mandatory since the 1st of this month, so the sign says. All 3 x 9's are open I believe, we played lake-ocean. Not very busy but there was what looked like a society starting on one of the 9's as we were leaving. Not impressed by the condition of the course, particularly the greens. Never did like Phoenix and nothing has changed, but I hope the members who're being ripped off get justice.

We played Mountain and Ocean this morning. I thought it was in pretty good condition albeit the greens on the Oceans were quicker than the Mountain. Thats only the 2nd time I have played there, and compared to July it was a lot busier. Whichever society was there had several flights going out and nearly all were walking.

Maybe the owners will see the benefits of allowing walkers again and keep it up.

On a similar subject, next month Eastern Star are going to one golfer per cart and no sharing. They are replacing their carts with new ones and have decided to ban cart sharing.

  7. Hi all, does anyone know of a driving range 54 in or near Rayong? Taylormade are having a demo evening there on Monday. Unfortunately the poster I saw is in Thai and the guy in the shop his English is as bad as my Thai. All he could say was Rayong 54 driving range.......

    Thanks.

  8. Tavern by sea sell a reasonable pint of the black stuff.

Maggie Mays is on one of the small soi's on the left of 3rd road between pattaya tai and pattaya klang heading towards klang. There is a tattoo studio called art original on 3rd road, opposite is the entrance to the Soi. Go down the soi and Maggies is on the left you can not miss the Guinness sign.

  9. I work in Kota Bharu and whilst it is "boring", the visa process is very straight forward and simple. I get my Non Imm "O" done here every year. I take my yellow house book, bank book updated, marriage certificates, recent pay statements, copies of my wifes ID card, house book and she'll write a short letter. I think the consul is closed Friday and Saturday. I try to go on a Monday or Tuesday and my new visa is always ready the following morning.

There is a renascence hotel and a couple of other cheaper reasonable ones, the small China town sells good food, the Indian restaurant is good, there is a Irish Pub which has draught guinness as well, a few places will sell beer its just not widely advertised. Visa application is easier in KB than the main embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

  10. Curious to know a bit more of the story. What clubs (brand name) did you buy? Was the price one where you believed you were getting a super deal on authentic clubs or did you pay close to the expected retail price on real clubs. The point in asking is not to give a hard time but to understand if they are selling clones/fakes at a fair price or trying to gouge customers. Please understand this is a genuine question, no malice intended.

They were Ping G25's with Carbon shafts, allegedly Japanese specs. They were brought for my wife, but there was always a reason for them to not come home, I managed to get a good look at them and the serial number and thats when I suspected something was not quite right, he was selling them at the same price as genuine ones. I called Ping in the UK and the US to check the numbers and both agents I dealt with confirmed my suspicions. Thats when I went and demanded a full refund. He has also sold a set of Epon copies to someone else my wife knows, who did not suspect they were copies, this was confirmed by an owner of original Epons.

The ones I initially brought were then sold the same day to another mans wife, whether or not they were told they were fakes I have no idea. Initially I was willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but even after pointing out all the differences between original Pings and the copies, he still has fakes sets for sale.

In answer to your questions, they were sold at current market price. Now knowing he is still selling the same ones, I'd be inclined to believe he is price gouging customers, and I would throughly recommend no one to buy anything from that shop.

  11. I'd just like to make everyone aware that the "pro shop" (that is used very loosely) downstairs at Greenway Driving Range on Sukkumvit in Pattaya is selling copy / fake clubs and as I found out actually for more than the genuine articles. I was lucky and got a full refund, however I also know of at least one other who brought what he believed to be genuine Japanese clubs which have also turned out to be fakes.

I'd also like to point out that the shop on ground level has absolutely nothing to do with TPR Academy on the first floor, they are completely separate entities.

  12. I am in a similar situation. I stopped working in the UK in 2007 and declared myself a non resident for tax purposes, then made sure I was only in the UK for less than the days allowed. However, I believe that most banks will not renew Debit or Credit cards unless you have a UK address and they will not send them overseas. I currently use my Father's address as a mailing address then he forwards anything I need onto me via DHL, Fedex etc etc. The couple of times Royal Mail and Thai Postal Services have been used the envelopes have mysteriously disappeared.

I'd be interested to know whether any of the "mail-box" services listed here are a valid address for having bank cards sent to.

  13. Hi all,

I would like to buy something similar to the Brosnan Pencil Lite bag to save lugging a full size bag on the plane every 6 weeks to work. I've had a quick look in a couple of shops in Pattaya but have been unable to find anything similar.

Would anyone know where I might be able to buy one?

    Cheers.
