  1. I'd just like to make everyone aware that the "pro shop" (that is used very loosely) downstairs at Greenway Driving Range on Sukkumvit in Pattaya is selling copy / fake clubs and as I found out actually for more than the genuine articles. I was lucky and got a full refund, however I also know of at least one other who brought what he believed to be genuine Japanese clubs which have also turned out to be fakes.

I'd also like to point out that the shop on ground level has absolutely nothing to do with TPR Academy on the first floor, they are completely separate entities.

  2. I am in a similar situation. I stopped working in the UK in 2007 and declared myself a non resident for tax purposes, then made sure I was only in the UK for less than the days allowed. However, I believe that most banks will not renew Debit or Credit cards unless you have a UK address and they will not send them overseas. I currently use my Father's address as a mailing address then he forwards anything I need onto me via DHL, Fedex etc etc. The couple of times Royal Mail and Thai Postal Services have been used the envelopes have mysteriously disappeared.

I'd be interested to know whether any of the "mail-box" services listed here are a valid address for having bank cards sent to.

  3. Hi all,

I would like to buy something similar to the Brosnan Pencil Lite bag to save lugging a full size bag on the plane every 6 weeks to work. I've had a quick look in a couple of shops in Pattaya but have been unable to find anything similar.

Would anyone know where I might be able to buy one?

    Cheers.

  4. soon2beexpat. Where is the CTH agents shop on Pattaya Thai? Thanks.

Coming from Sukukumvit, it is on the left hand side next to the Animal Hospital just past a shop that sells big teddy bears. There is the boat shop on the right hand side CTH shop is about 200 yards further on.

Hopefully this screen shot will work taken from google maps.

  5. I went into the CTH agents shop on Pattaya Tai yesterday. He said satellite boxes are due to be delivered at the start of July. We've signed up for CTH via satellite, which included free installation in 2 rooms. Dish due to be installed after the weekend and the box once it arrives, hopefully in 10 days or so.

  6. Any reliable info or even rumours about the Z800 price yet?

From what I was told in Kawasaki yesterday, it will be priced at around the same as the Ducati Monster, that is assuming it is actually released here for sale..........

  7. Picked up a Hero 3 Black and a few extra batteries, haven't tried it out yet.

did you get it here in Thailand? If yes can i ask where and how much?

Downstairs in TucCom in Pattaya, the shop opposite the "apple" shop sell the Hero 3 all editions the Black is 17,900 Baht but they will knock a couple of hundred off for you. They also sell a good range of accesories, mounts, extra batteries etc etc.

  8. That was the price I was quoted yesterday in Pattaya Kawasaki, they have just had a delivery of 20 bikes in. Then the salesman told me they are expecting to have the Z800 for sale in the "next few months". I left empty handed and will wait and see IF the Z800 does become for sale here.

  9. Thank you.

@ Mobi, I know the hospital you mentioned, we have taken ours to the one closer to Lotus on Sukhumvitt the largest size bag they sell is 4kg which does not last that long. We'll go and look in the other one and see if they sell bigger bags.

@ Cuban, I think BARF and fresh fish is a good diet however at the moment I want to stick with the prescription dry food until her hair comes back. Once she is fully furred then I'll try the fish. For the time being I just want to eliminate diet as the cause for the hair loss. She has now been spayed and since that her hair is growing a lot quicker, in hindsight the hair loss first started shortly after her first season so it may have been hormone related. As I said previously its going to be a long slow process.

  10. I have a 18 month old Golden Retriever who has suffered severe hair loss. She has now finished her medication and her hair is growing back it will be a long slow progress, part of the problem may have been an allergy to her usual dried dog food. The Vet has recommended Hills Prescription Canine Z/D as her only source of food.

Does anyone know where I can buy it other than the vets which only sell 4kg bags at 1800 baht a bag. Is there wholesalers that I can order from? We live in Pattaya.

    Thanks.

  11. I have a garmin 62s and a newer garmin montana. Both are accurate and reasonably easy to use. I brought the newer montana for the larger screen size. Using it in conjuction with garmin basecamp and google earth you can plan where you want to ride using a computer then save the route to either the memory of the garmin or to the micro sd card. Both are reasonably rugged, 100% waterproof and the montana's touch screen is easy to use whilst wearing gloves. There are plenty of sites where you can download maps for free or you can buy them direct from Garmins website.

  12. Bike Lane near the Elephant Village also stock gear and if he doesn't have it in stock he can normally get it within 3 days to a week.

I where around Elephant Village yesterday but could not any shops... Could you point it out on google maps please?

EDIT : I found the location on a map on facebook....

Its a large storage looking building with a Blue Roof, at the front is a glass door, 2 one side is a up and over garage type door and a small dirt track runs around the back and side of it.

  13. On the exit of Marpachan lake on the Na Klua side there is a small dirt track on the right.. Also some good trails in the woods around there and on the other lake exit, cross the road and follow that dirt road which is good fun although it has some serious mud/water atm

I also go to the other big reservoir which is good to do a circuit of (see google maps)

Any chance you can put a link to google maps for the bit in Bold please?

  14. Lots of tracks and trails around Soi Polo on both sides of the road. Can easily ish get up the small hills that over look Polo. Also google Khao Mai Kheo (check spelling), there is around 14km of single track there, 2 loops 1 x 4km and 1 x 10km the 4km is pretty easy going the larger track has some steep rocky tree root climbs on it. There are marker arrows dotted around on the trees there. Also plenty of Markers in the Soi Polo area used for MTB's and Horse riders. Just follow the arrows and its pretty easy.

Its getting busier out now, more and more people seem to be buying dirt bikes for fun. This time of year its pretty easy to just follow tyre tracks in the dirt / sand. My wife and I are out quite a lot. If your new to riding might be worth contacting a guy called Jonny who operates out of Bike Lane near the Elephant village his website is www.tracksntrailspattaya.com he'll be able to show you a fair few tracks to ride.

  15. Soon2bexpat,

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

Bars look great and good to know no cable change is needed.

Do you find with the new end can any 'popping' from the exhaust on deceleration or on gear changes?

When its cold (well as cold as it gets here) it pops on rapid declaration but once warmed up there is no noticeable popping or back firing and not on gear changes either. My guess is due to the sensor still fitted just fwd of the can the EFI is still receiving its information and compensates for the change in end can. Home Racing is based in Mae Rim just up from Chiang Mai and he does make full systems including a power or mega bomb. The only reason I kept the original header pipe was due to no heat guard available on the Home Racing header pipes. I ride mostly standing up and my right leg does touch the header occasionally.

There is some info on a few other bike forums, ride asia and gt riders regarding mods to the KLX.

I think when I change my rear tyre I'll go up a tooth or 2 on the rear sprocket for better low down power, top speed isn't an issue for me.

    Thanks,

Yes what you describe is exactly what I am looking for an answer to. When the bike is first started, for about 1 or 2 mins it pops, as soon as the engine is warm it stops. Its the same with the snorkel in or out. So this is nothing to worry about?

A 13t front sprocket is what I'm think rather than going up on the rear.

As it only lasts a couple of minutes I'd say no nothing to worry about, I am pretty sure its ok. Yes I thought about 13t at the front but seem pretty scarce, a larger rear is easier to get hold of here.
