Hi manxlad , I will second what frogster has said.
My wife took the A1 English Test with Vantage-Siam same as frogster's other half,
if you contact Kevin he can arrange a practice test by Email which could help your GF get some idea about it and calm her nerves.
My wife would recommend it and found the staff easy going and kevin was very patient and helpful with the pupils.
Things always seem more scarey than they really are ,I'm sure your GF will do very well, good luck to you both from Pomchob
thanks for your replies, i really appreciate your advice and i am much more at ease regarding which test format to apply for and also a reputable company etc .
it is grat to have a facility like this forum as you can get sensible answers to most things from what i can see.
so keep up the good work and thanks again

hi pomchob and frogster
one quick question i forgot to ask... is the test based only on speaking and listening, as i have looked at the regs on ukba website and it says requirement is for elementary speaking and listening, but i have looked on the BULATS site and i am not sure if their basic A1 test also includes reading and writing? which apparently is not required. is this the case as your ladies have taken the tests recently
cheers lads
