  1. Today my dealership called me and said they have my “Green Book”. So, I went down and picked it up. Every time I try to interpret a common sense law in the LOS, other than my area of expertise which are 187’s, if your familiar with the US Penal code, I am always wrong. It appears to me that the “Green Book” is the title and logic tells me that I should keep a copy of it in my motorbike at all times along with a copy of my registration in case I get stopped and the original in my safe. Where I worked, Motor Vehicle titles are kept in your safe and registration and insurance papers in the motor vehicle. So .... is this the case ? where should the “Green Book” be kept ?

  2. Wonder if they remove the tax on 91, 95 and diesel like they have said, but not on the gasahol 91, 95, or E20 and E85 how that will change things in the LOS

Different government, different people benefit from different kinds of fuels sold?!

Anyway there's talk about removing the 6 Baht (?) tax on gasoline. Add to that the fact that the oil price is down and the baht is up - it should get cheaper.

Interesting topic, I'll avoid PPT henceforth. I do think I get worse mileage on Gasohol 91... my wife claims that Shell V-Power diesel makes the truck go faster, and I am inclined to believe that, it seemed to pull a bit more. It didn't turn into a Porsche but there's more pep to it...

I wonder if some of you guys have been here too long ? Like I have stated, I have just retired from a 30 year City job recently in the US and I can assure you if your complaining about a 6 Baht tax on fuels you've been here too long. The fuel Taxes, at least in the US, are just about as much as the fuel. State, Local, Federal, Fuel station owner, EPA, PETA, NSA and it goes on and on .......

  3. you don't know if they do replica race bike paint jobs ??

    cheers

No, they don't do that. But i know another guy who is specialized in motorbike painting, including air brusch, if somebody need it.

I don't have his phone number right now, but i know where he is located. He painted even my motorbike, a Honda CBR 400, in all original colors and decals. Excellent job. If you are interested i can show you where he stays. You can PM me

Can you tell me where the guy is located, now that I scratched up my new Suzuki. Would appreciate it. I live in Pattaya. Would PM you, but do not know how.

  4. definately wont self destruct your bike ,all my bikes are suggested to be run on gasohol 91 ,but i think 95 is bit longer lasting between fill ups

any new engine that can run on gasohol 91 will run just as well or sometimes better on 95 ( they are both E10 fuels ,only differnce is octane content )

some engines can even run on the E20 fuel which is a fair bit cheaper but im not sure about the new suzukis so someone else will know if it can drink E20 or not

OK, Thanks for the info. Will try 95 on my next fill up and see if I get a power increase.

  5. I have a relatively new Suzuki Hayate, about 2500km on it. I already have a series of scratches on the main right panel of the bike from a slight miscalculation in navigation and a few more on the left side. No cracks, just deep scratches through the surface of the paint. In Pattaya, does anyone know who would do paint work to repair the scratches ?

  6. I have a Suzuki 125 Hayati. Does anyone know what roads I cannot and can drive the bike on. Specifically out of Pattaya there is Route 36 which heads North to Sri Racha and the Open Zoo which I want to visit. This highway on some maps, is referred to as Route 7 and on other maps route 36. I also would like to take it to Rayon instead of Route 3. and ... In general is there a way to tell what roads a smaller motorbike can travel on in the Kingdom.

  7. Great example of the garbage one has to wade through to get to the few nuggets of useful information on this forum.

For the record, I never said there was no double pricing in Thailand (there is lots) and never defended it (I think it is abhorrent, at least when practiced by private businesses).

It's the terming it as "racist" that is dead wrong: the policy is based on nationality, not race in any way, shape, or form.

I don't know how to make it any clearer for you.

Wrong ! Anything based on the color of your skin is Racist, any way you twist it around or try to explain it, It's Racist !

  8. A few years ago when i had just installed an alarm on my bike and went to Koh Chang,

i met a thai guy on the ferry with the exact same alarm installed on his scooter,

the only difference is i payed ~2/3 more than him since i got mine from a big bike shop,

and he got his from a small bike shop.

alarms can be disable quickly while the GPS tracking are stealth and allow to get your bike back even if the cable or battery disconnected.

How does the GPS work on a motorbike if the Battery is disconnected ? I thought they need constant power ?

  9. I have been involved with the kids boxing now for about five years. Much different than the Police Athletic League I was involved with back home. Do not want to go into every detail, however, most start fighting in the stadiums at about 9 or 10 years of age, if they are good. The training stars at about 6 years old. The money part is quite complicated, however, Thousands and thousands of baht are wagered on these fights and at times a child boxer my have up to 8-10 "sponsors" , with prize money growing to over 100,000 baht for a fight.

  10. ok, Thanks Bifftastic that was a big help. Purchased it from a private party and the motorbike shop who I am paying to register it for me at land transport could not answer the questions I had.

can you let me know the cost for the bike shop registering it for you, looking to buy a bike of our 6 months stay to save all the hassle the bike will be around 20,000 baht mark, need it registered and insured for the 6 months any info would be great.

    cheers paul

Mityon Honda (and every other brand) across from Pattaya Tucom is registering it for me. The cost was 800 baht and they said to return in three weeks to get the completed paperwork and green book. You need a Certificate of residency from immigration and your passport and a copy of it and a copy of your Visa.

  11. what did u have to give to immigration for the statement of residence (500 baht is A LOT cheaper than what the US embassy charges)

    thx

I just went through the same thing last month for both my Licenses, however, I do not recall it being 500 baht for the certificate. More like 300 baht. Anyways here is what you need and the certificate is ready the next day, at least at Pattaya Immigration.

Fill out Form, “Application Form for Resident Certificate in Thailand”

    Need Passport

    Passport Copy

    Retirement Stamp Copy

    Departure Card Copy

    2 – Visa Photos 2 x 4 cm
