It's been over a year now since my last trip to an ATM. Actually stopped carrying a wallet altogether. The only people still asking for cash are some dinosaur vendors on the local fresh markets. I just go to another one then, there are plenty. But it's happening extremely seldom now. Even the wife's gone cashless after being a skeptic for quite a while.

Rip off prices. Just look on Twitter instead, plenty on offer for less than half.

That's the right approach: first turn airplane mode on and afterwards re-enable wifi. Works nicely on my phone. But you have to register for wifi calling with your provider.

I am using ShopeePay app which provides a virtual MasterCard for use with NFC. Works like a charm. Only limitation is that it draws from the wallet balance, you can't have it deduct the amount from another linked credit card.

I am only truly accepted by my wife of 25 years. Very few others really treat you like you were one of their other Thai family members or friends. As long as things go well, that's all fine. But don't expect much understanding if you're down and out. Been there, experienced that. And of course officialdom always sees foreigners as a necessary evil which has to be dealt with. True equality and acceptance will probably always remain elusive here.

I found a good shop, K Love Phone in Central Festival. They did a splendid job.

Does anyone know a good repair shop for mobile phones? I have a Google Pixel phone with a broken USB port. I ordered the spare part already but I don't know a good shop to change it for me. Don't want to risk bricking it by doing it myself.

I only feel sorry for the people with other types of insurances which go down the drain together with the bankrupt companies. It would definitely be better to amend or scrap the lump sum COVID policies in order to protect the normal policy holders.
