  1. As for insurance maybe Thailand should look at other places and see what they are doing to attract tourists? Canary islands as an example offer free COVID-19 insurance for tourists staying between 1 and 30 days. They are probably earning a lot more money on incoming tourists compared to the expenses they have from those few that need to use the insurance. Personally we booked 14 days on Tenerife this winter instead of Thailand. So much easier. No first day quarantine, free insurance, no tests as vaccinated so far, bars and restaurant open until 3am etc etc. Thailand need to wake up or else other countries are snatching their golden goose.
  2. Waste of money to be placed in hospital if it's not needed. Most of the 10 positive people were most likely vaccinated, and because of that go through a mild case. A simple quarantine should do the trick. What I'm interested to know is what happened to those sitting close to them on the plane.
  3. https://www.thailandelitevisas.com/membership-overview/?gclid=CjwKCAjwiY6MBhBqEiwARFSCPqVXGBw2ykGOweB6ytpwdvGeI4LwjoJY4ty72y6ucDNl7CQoafuCuhoCUk4QAvD_BwE Approx 8333 baht pr month if you choose a 10 year elite visa. Not that cheap, but if money if no problem, i can see why people buy those to avoid the hassle.
  4. Totally overkill and pictures like this will make people think twice before buying tickets to Thailand. No idea why, but it reminds me of an episode of Soap.
  5. Go ask all the bar owners/employess in Pattaya/Phuket/Samui/Koh Chang and see if that poll wouldn't be quite different.
  6. For me it looks like their daily death rates and the high % of positive persons pr daily tests, are still way to high to fully open up. Their positive % of daily tests are still through the roof. Here in Denmark which has been open for months we're seeing quite a rise in the daily numbers, and looks like we're heading into a winter that might cause problems once again, and our daily numbers are way lower than Thailand when comparing population Numbers. We have approx 1900 positives pr 70.000 daily tests in a 5.8 mill population, which seems to start a spike once again. And we have vaccinated 85 % of the target group of age 12+, and most of us got Pfizer. This damn virus is not going to go away anytime soon. COVID-19 sucks big time.
  7. Lol that would be a new money machine. Only 1 passenger pr taxi, so 4 taxies for most families. Hmm i better shut up, or they actually make it happen....
  8. Some companies worldwide are trying to work on COVID vaccines that last a lifetime after 1 or 2 shots and hopefully they succeed. If they can make some that last 5 to 10 years it's a huge step forward. It should be possible, but the techniques are more expensive. For now i just settle with a yearly shot, and just hope a lot of the sceptical people, will change their mind and get the shot after they see vaccines are safe in the long run.
  9. It's not like me and my better half are drowning ourselves in booze every day when in Thailand, but we want the option to find a waterhole when it rains, where we can get 1 or 10 changs while it's clearing up, and maybe have a game of killer or dart. And eating dinner without drinking a beer or a glass of wine is blasphemy ???? Sunsets are also best served at the beach with a few girly umbrella drinks. So if they want our money, they better reintroduce alcohol. Plus getting rid of all their other restrictions....
  10. Virus do what virus is supposed to do. It copy itself and quite often that copy is not an exact copy of the original. Some of those mutations are more dangerous, but most are not. Nothing to do with the vaccines. If we didn't have any vaccines, we would have more mutations, since more people would be infected and the virus had to copy itself a lot more times.
  11. From butt to mouth? Gloves used for Colonoscopy in Thailand and then maybe shipped to a dentist in US. On a more serious note, it could be lethal if contaminated gloves are used elsewhere , so hopefully ther ones responsible will see the inside of a prison.
  12. I wonder where those gloves has been used. Gyno, pharmaceutical industry, surgery, dentist, covid testing, tattoo artists etc etc? There are so many businesses that rely on sterile rubber gloves to protect the products or patients, so in worst case scenarios these used rubber gloves could have caused someones death. I hope the ones involved are locked up for a long time.
  13. Numbers might rise in Thailand, but since all tourists are vaccinated and a large part of the Thais too, it probably means most will have no need for hospitals. Here in Denmark 85 % of people above age 12 are vaccinated and we're currently seeing quite a rise in numbers of positive after we have been fully open for a few moths, with no restrictions. It's most likely due to fall and the winter will most likely give us even higher number of positives. Another reason could be the ones that had their shots 7 to 10 Months ago, have lower protection now, so we also started getting booster shots. But no pressure yet on the hospitals, so the vaccines do their job and show it's possible to live in a fully open society with no restrictions so far. This winter will show if it's possible to live with COVID in a fully open society, if the majority are vaccinated. I would guess that Thailand has fewer problems with cold seasons, so they should have less problems after opening up, if the majority are vaccinated.
  14. It's pretty funny. In top 7 are Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. And many of us here are dying to get away from our cold climates and live in places like Thailand. So screw the happiness chart ????
  15. Boosts should not be given to politicians before all Thais had the chance to get their first 2 shots.
  16. Those old dinosaurs could set a good example by moving some of their productions towards vaping liquid/equipment. Vaping seems to be a better alternative and getting the nicotine in liquid form is way better than getting it from cigarettes. It's still important to say vaping is not safe, but it's less harmful compared to regular cigarettes. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4110871/ Currently available evidence indicates that electronic cigarettes are by far a less harmful alternative to smoking and significant health benefits are expected in smokers who switch from tobacco to electronic cigarettes nicotine does not contribute to smoking-related diseases. It is not classified as a carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer [WHO-IARC, 2004] and does not promote obstructive lung disease. A major misconception, commonly supported even by physicians, is that nicotine promotes cardiovascular disease. However, it has been established that nicotine itself has minimal effect in initiating and promoting atherosclerotic heart disease
  17. Would be interesting to see how much is considered enough pr day if we remove plane tickets and accommodation from the calculation. How mucho dineros pr day for eating, drinking, tours and souvenir pr person is enough? 3k, 5k, 10k baht?
  18. Reduced curfew, still ban of alcohol and no sight of a night out in town with fully open walking streets, bars, restaurants etc. Do those tools seriously think the beaches and temples are enough to attract tourists. No thanks. Spain are getting our money this winter.
  19. Personally it annoys me that my better half has to turn to regular cigarettes when we are in Thailand, because she can't vape there. It was not a problem on our first 7 or 8 vacations in Thailand, but then suddenly vaping was an issue. I wonder what made it change so suddenly a few years ago.
  20. Spain or Italy are receiving our holiday money this winter and not Thailand as we hoped for. Would have loved to go back to Koh Chang or Koh Samui this winter, but have to settle with less. See you Thailand, when things are back to normal.
  21. Maybe if more tobacco manufactures expanded their production towards vaping to create a more controlled product, then it would be easier to both tax and control that production. As it is now the vaping market is a lottery and you risk buying some liquid/flavour where you can't trust the labelling. Some products claim not to contain nicotine but after testing shows it do, some have higher or lower concentrations of nicotine, which in worst case could lead to poisoning and so on.
  22. If they were concerned about the health they would ban ordinary cigarettes, but we all know that's not going to happen, so people will continue to die from lungecancer and other smoking related diseases. So why not offer a better alternative, that is less lethal? It's all about tax money.
  23. Try and tell Russia that Delta are loosing it's strength. Their statistics are going through the roof at the moment.
