  1. In the start we didn't have the vaccines to help us through this pandemic, so it made sense to do lockdowns to prevent spreading. It sucked big time , but i rather have a lockdown for a period of time instead of having more people infected , which again would lead to more people developing symptoms after dealing with covid 19. There is no doubt that lockdowns has it negative effects, but it also has its positive effects. Hopefully the vaccines now has provided us with a tool, that can prevent total lockdowns in the future, but only time will tell.
  2. Nice article with a lot of interesting info. When the Nobel prize is given to some of these pioneers, it will be interesting to see how the anti vax brigade will react.
  3. Personally i don't have a drivers license because of the same reason. I knew from i was 16 or 17 when I was in the middle of my cooking education, that I wouldn't be able to control myself if I went out drinking and if I had a car nearby I would most likely think i was able to drive. Because of that i never tried to get my drivers license. I love my beers to much. So it's maybe a cheap shot from me when i suggest that all cars worldwide should be equipped with an alco lock.....
  4. About the same % as in most countries. It's going to cost a lot of money to treat these symptoms worldwide and also is a reason why it's a good thing to get to the shot, because it lowers the chance to get COVID-19 if you are vaccinated. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/09/10/health/us-coronavirus-friday/index.html Thankfully other recent studies seem to have found an indication why so many people develop these symptoms after COVID-19, so hopefully they find a way to deal with this. https://news.uams.edu/2021/09/09/uams-research-team-finds-potential-cause-of-covid-19-long-haulers/ Personally have a few colleagues that still suffer from these symptoms 6 months after they had COVID-19 and it's not fun for them as it cripple their daily life.
  5. no idea if it is a scam but if it sounds to cheap it probably is to good to be true.
  6. I remember one constructionsite on the east side, where i 3 vacations in a row, saw the same unfinished construction site on a hillside. It was clearly visible from the boat tours that sailed past Koh Mat Lang and it was not pretty. Lots of palms/trees that has been cut down on the hillside to make some room for seperate bungalows. ok ok, comparing it to a bomb site might be a bit over the top, but it sure didn't look pretty. Will see if i can find a few examples of what i meant, but maybe i should have used other words, because when i read them again it seems like i think that the Island are full of sites like this on Samui. Sorry about that. Normally i'm used to see a whole lot of new construction sites on Samui, since i did a lot of fishing trips and regular tour boats across the island during my trips there, and must say they are normally quite good at finishing what they start.
  7. It would be nice if they finished all those constructions that has been started before Covid 19, before they plan ahead. Take a look at a lot of drone footage from Samui and you see a ton of stuff that yet has to be finished, and at places it looks like a bomb has been dropped on the hillsides on Samui.
  8. one of my collegues booked 20 days in january on different Islands in Thailand. I hope for him that things are open somewhat normally at that point. It's his first time in Thailand, but i warned him that he will most likely enter a country where a lot of the shops still are closed and there is a lack of activity in most places. Even if that sounds like a lovely thing to arrive with few tourists and little activity, it could also be a sad experience to see all those closed shops etc.
  9. It's true that normal kids with no illness has an extremely low chance of dying with covid 19, but they do get long term side effects from covid 19 just like adults do, and it's not just about protecting the kids from covid 19. The delta variant created a different scenario, compared to the time when alpha only roamed. If we let the Delta spread amongst all the kids without any vaccines/restrictions/lockdowns, they would spread it to adults who are at a greater risk of dying. Both the unvaccinated and vaccinated group of adult. Could we avoid vaccinating the kids? Maybe if everyone above age 15 would take their shots so we could reach the total % needed, but that's not going to happen when we have so many that refuse to take their shots. So now it's the kids that has to do it for them.....
  10. Latest news sounds promising and it looks like there is still hope ???? Hopefully they don't deport him, while the adoption case is in process. My english is not good enough on technical workds, so will google translate some of it from the danish newspaper today. https://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/samfund/kaempe-kovending-i-sag-om-udvist-tiaarig/8855214 The National Board of Appeal has chosen to overturn the Family Court's decision that Niels Jørgen and Praphatsanun may not adopt ten-year Guide according to Danish rules, which has always been what set the stage for whether Guide should stay in Denmark. 'The adoption of Wasuthon cannot be rejected on the ground that Chayapon and Wasuthon must be equated with each other. The sibling relationship between Chayapon and Wasuthon is thus not considered to be an obstacle to the completion of the adoption of Wasuthon, ' So far, it is unclear whether the Danish Travel Agency will continue to send out Guide Nielsen as long as the adoption case is being processed, but the family has now, for the first time in a long time, gained new hope. - I am happy. I am very happy. I have goosebumps, says Praphatsanun Nielsen and comes shortly after with a pure cry of joy.
  11. 2 questions. When did Thailand start to vaccinate. When did the Delta variant appear in Thailand. If you compare those timelines vs the rate of fatalities, do you still come to the same conclusion?
  12. It's not popular to talk about, but each country should try and investigate why some people has not yet taken their shots. An article published here in Denmark today shows the % of vaccinated people amongst our different groups/immigrants etc. Somali people 38,8 % fully vaccinated Libanese people 40,7% Syrians 45,2% That compared to 73,3% fully vaccinated in Denmark in total, shows that it's important to clear our misunderstandings, rumours, and fake news amongst some groups. The virus is colourblind and don't care what religion you believe in....
  13. Try Ctrl-a to highlight All txt and then shift-F3 to change to lower case.
  14. It sounds a bit high compared to other countries, for so many fully vaccinated people to die. Fully vaxxed people which die from COVID-19 are usually people with lowered immunes due to several reason. Mostly it's the elderly ones. Maybe it has something to do which types of vaccines that has been used, since some has lower effiency towards the delta variant? No matter what the data still shows any vaccine is better than none. Personally not a huge fan of certain manufactures and has my own favorites, but in the end, they all has shown that they save lives.
  15. I would look at the current data available and talk with the youngsters about pro and cons and then let them decide. Some kids are smarter than some adults on this COVID-19 forum.
  16. Every infected human can produce a new variant and it actually happens more often than you might think. Here in Denmark we so far has discovered more than 35,000 variations of the Delta mutation amongst our positive PCR tests. This short video describes some of the process, but i would recommend a vaccine anyday, compared to walking around with no protection what so ever.
  17. Better late than never. Massive testing/tracking/isolation are some of the reasons why Denmark has gotten to a point, where the country once again are open with no restrictions. It's a darn expensive strategy, but it seems like it was worth the money. We are 5.8 mill people and during this pandemic we so far used 82,3 million PCR/Antigen tests. (almost 50/50) Combine that with a high % of vaccinated danes, lockdowns during critical stages and mandatory masks in certain places, and it could explain why we are back to normal. Time will tell how we will make it through our winter period, but so far the numbers looks good. Fingers crossed that Thailand will finish their vaccination program before the end of 2021 so they too can return to normal.
  18. Stop trolling. You know that vaccinated people can get COVID-19 and die from it. The chances are just so much lower compared to unvaccinated people. Age off course also plays a role, when it comes to deaths, but atm here in Denmark a lot of unvaccinated people below 40 are occupying the hospital beds. The Days are over where it was those over age 70 that occupied most beds, and that is because 96 % over age 50 are vaccinated in Denmark. Btw, Denmark is open as normal with no restrictions what so ever. Is it the same where you live?
  19. Quite a large study from CDC which looked at 600,000 cases from april-july 2021. Hopefully articles like this can convince some of the sceptics to get their shots. The die hard conspiracy anti vaxers are a lost cause, but maybe there is hope for the regular sceptics? https://edition.cnn.com/2021/09/10/health/us-coronavirus-friday/index.html
  20. Dane here and i say let him stay. Rules are rules and we have the strict rules in Denmark for a reason, but that does not mean it's not possible to find a solution in this case. Maybe some official adopting can be looked into so it's the danish guy that adopt him? No idea, but the story is in several newspapers, so maybe it end well for the family after all. It's not the first time a Thai national hit the mainstream news here. We had a case a few years back when a thai girl Atcharapan "Mint" Yuangyai was deported and it caused a lot of headlines, so a year later the Parliament changed the rules so 83 foreign kids could get/reapply for family reunification in Denmark. As far as i know she is back in Denmark now.
  21. It's very different from person to person. I had several fellow coworkes who had Covid 19. Some almost didn't noticed they had it, but some were hospitalized and 6 months later still struggles with after effects from covid 19 and haven't gained full lung capacity yet.
  22. Nah he is just mad because she spent all his money on pork ????
  23. Facts? Hell Angels and similar groups are able to get double sentenced in Denmark as well. It was first used in 2010 when 3 danish males from AK81 ( A HA supporter group) were double sentenced. They were bodyguards for a Hell Angels member. You can dizz Denmark all you want, but get your facts straight.
