Section 37 = form TM28 not TM30
Foreigners who entered Thailand under section 34, this is probably everybody here, are exempt from this 24 hours reporting when going to another province under section 37.
The author should understand the laws before making a petition about them.
I think the author is an attorney and probably knows the law better than you

I'm always amazed how amazed Thais are that we can speak their language, like it's some kind of specially coded means of communicating.
It's a very simple language once you get past learning a new alphabet. It only takes about 30/40 hours to learn the alphabet and is important.
When I first attended school in BKK I didn't want to learn the alphabet (just learn to speak) but my teacher advised me it was crucial and I'm glad I did. I don't write very often but I read a lot and it makes my life easier and helps me understand the people more.
The tones are a red herring and seem to put people off from every trying. I purposely bypassed spending hours perfecting the tones of each word. Everything about language is context and as long as you can speak in sentences then it is no problem that you are tonally incorrect. You tend to pick up a lot just from listening anyway
Can't understand for the life of me why there is so much bewilderment regarding Allen Long .
I've seen the Thais post on his FB at how they are impressed by his accent.
He is THAI for all intent and purposes, he has lived here since he was a small child and went through the whole school system.
If he lived in the UK or US, he would be called British or American but here he is still farang.
Just shows how racist and xenophobic the Thais really are.
And we definitely would not be pissing our pants that he could speak the language with our accents.
Whats the reason for learning the thai alphabet if you're not going to write thai. Are you saying it helped you with speaking skills at the end of the 40 hours?
I want to learn the language but dont know where to start to be honest

How far ahead are you trying to book ?
If the date is ‘out of range’ you can book an appointment (to complete th3 process) then change it later.
as I said Im trying to book an appointment right now (for first week of august). its not out of range
the system clearly has a problem

Everything is going smoothly applying for the wifes visitor visa. Except when selecting an appointment well in advance on the VFS website. Its hanging and not validating the appt I selected. What do I do about this? Absolute rubbish software. Clearly a bug in their system. I refuse to pay for a VIP service even if this is their developers motive.
Should I log out and log back in ?
thanks

I don't think high IQ has anything to do with driving ability, the questions posed in the
tests I've done have no logical link to driving.
What I think the poster who brought up the driving/IQ connection was clumsily trying to
say was that all Thais are stupid and bad drivers. A double bash in one comment is
pretty good going for this place.
By the way, I did abysmally in all the IQ tests I attempted but I am probably the best driver
on the planet!!
Back on topic, it does look like a Nissan with a Merc badge. It is an
awful amount of money to spend on any kind of vehicle, let alone a
pick up truck.
theres always going to be someone richer or poorer than you shy coco. maybe 100k is peanuts to some?

Rather than dig everything up (you really can't tell much just by looking), find a sparks with a proper earth resistance tester and test what you have, it could be just fine.
Otherwise just bash in a second rod >2.4m long and wire it together with the existing rod (I would wire it to the board itself as if there was no existing rod). In reality this is likely the cheapest and easiest solution.
Are you referring to one of these:
He pulled out a small device and when touching a wire it showed the voltage. Can that be used on the copper rod?

I dont understand what you mean by same installation. do you mean same building. If so yes

Impossible to tell from the photograph. Do you have the installation instructions?
That should tell which way round 'live' and 'neutral' should be connected.
I will try to find them and put a copy on here

I'm having a so-called 'experienced' electric guy come soon to fix a few lights.
Last yr on the ground floor of our newly renovated building we had a different electrician put in a new large elec box with proper grounding (so he says). He showed me where they put the copper rod with concrete over the top now. He was the same guy who did the wiring on a shower where I was subsequently feeling minor electric shocks when touching the metal tap. This issue has since been resolved. But now I want to dig up the concrete and check if the copper rod thing is done correctly. If not all it represents is 'fake safety'.
Thus, my question is...
1. what are we looking for once the concrete is dug up. How deep should it be? Should it be covered in soil?
2. What am I looking for to see if it is actually fake safety?
thanks
-
We had small elec shock when touching the metal tap below the shower. We asked the electrician if we had the earth/ grounding wires installed on the same level in our building where the shower problem was experienced. He checked the safety box and said that it wasnt there. Photos before and after are below. Has he done it correctly? Is there supposed to be another green wire leading from that breaker for the shower to the elect box?
thanks

I raised the thread:
It took a while to find an 'electrician' who had experience. One guy we phoned said he was an electrical worker and a window maker. I thought to myself if my doctor told me that he was half a dentist and half a proctologist then I would run a mile.
Anyways, we found a guy who was 100% an electrician. He told us in relation to the above problem that the installer from before had incorrectly wired the brown and blue i.e. they were in the wrong slots. The photo I took represents the correct way. Can anyone confirm this.
thanks

You dont want a land-line. You want VOIP.
You've made a valid point.... I investigated and our current shitty phone is included in the 3bb account with the wifi bill.
I read on the internet ''As VoIP works off your internet connection, there is no need for a traditional phone line. This means that you only need to deal with one account, one bill, for both internet and phone''
thus I suppose I should tell the shop that I have voip when buying the new phone?

Im coming to Bangas soon. I want to buy a quality land line phone that can take messages and if no one picks up the phone- diverts to a cell phone.
The stores in Big C sell low spec land line phones. I want a good one. Can you recommend a good store anywhere along the BTS line in Bangas?
thanks

Did I read that right? If you have a yellow house book, or you are listed in the blue house book (Permanent Residents), you do not need to file a TM30 if you are returning to that address?
I think its correct. I have a yellow book and asked when doing 90 reporting. she said I didnt have to do it when returning from abroad

SuperRich at the airport are selling Sterling for 38.85 which seems a good rate of you originally exchanged at over 40
Your post has helped me the most. I checked their website and you are correct:
If I select the 'buying' button and plug in 1000 gbp the rate is 38.55
Thus to buy 1000 gbp it will cost me 38,550 baht
So my question is.... is this a good rate or not??????????????

if you are intending to move back, then yes, now is a very good time to send money back.
if for eg you transferred pounds here at 44 to the baht, then you will do very well to send back now.
but bear in mind that if you want to send money to thailand again in the future, if the baht continues to get even stronger, then keep your money here.
sorry, Im confused now. a guy above says its not a good time to buy gbp cash. I know your talking about wiring money back to the uk but I thought the rates were similar.
we have a cash business here and thus just earn thai and go on holidays

Buy Thai gold and when you desire to sell, sell in Thailand.
Gold is on a run now and is up from $1,300 to $1430 in the USA in just a few months and is at the highest point in many years with more gains coming soon.
USA dollar is fiat currency is not backed by anything...try exchanging for your dollars for gold...ha ha.
Trump is no dummy and is intent on crashing the US Federal Reserve to stop this nonsense going on...remember that the Federal Reserve is not part of the USA technically and is not federal and has no reserves.
Very likely that a new currency is underway which will be backed by precious metals likely and when that happens, the dollar will lose value rapidly I believe.
Jim Sinclair, the ultimate gold guru, says gold is going to $87,000/ounce. You think he is crazy right...hopefully he will be 10% correct at least and gold will go to $8,700/ounce...won't that make folks happy...except for those who are only into cash. ????
I traded gold and silver in 2002-2004 when gold was at $300/ounce and silver at $7/ounce.
I built my house here in Thailand with my silver earnings.
FORGET CURRENCIES WHICH ARE NOT BACKED UP BY ANYTHING = FIAT MONEY.
I bought gold certificates at perth mint may last yr. Now its up 17%. very happy. will hold until its in a bubble and offload. hope it goes to at least 10% of jims prediction
Copper 'earth' rod deep in the ground?
in The Electrical Forum
Posted
hi, My update is that our electrician came around today to check things. I told him I wanted to check the copper rod and he used the drill to remove the top surface of the concrete. He didnt have a proper digital device as per your link above. But he did have a lightbulb with 2 wires attached. He stuck one end in the electric extension cord that was plugged into the drill. He touched the other wire from the bulb to the top of the copper rod thing. The light on the bulb flickered a little and then we heard the power cut out inside with a few beeping noises. He said that this test confirms the earth rod / grounding is working. Is this a valid test. Is he correct?
thanks so much
