Hi all,
Anyone had luck repairing an old seiko in bkk at Malls, around hotels or somewhere open on the weekend?
Seiko service centre doesn't like old models and isn't open weekends.
Thanks for any information.

Any good promotions in BKK now?

RMFs still gain up to a 15% tax write off. All depends how close you are to 55 I guess. LTFs until 2020 then RMFs for me. Pretty sure LTFs good for the Thai economy so I'd be surprised if it does end in 2020.

Hey.
Is the seiko service centre good with40 or 50 year old model? Not high end just sentimental value.
Thanks for any advice.

I've taught Grade 2/3 here for two decades and when Thai kids turn 8 they can get National ID cards. They're allocated an ID number at birth and in the interim can use house registration, birth certificate but the best of all is photo ID in the form of a passport. This is what I use for my own son who is three.
As Head of Grade 2 at my school it's quite safe to say I know what I'm talking about however the OP is entitled to go with the opinion he/she is most persuaded by.

Both house registration and Birth certificate while useful aren't photo ID. Thai/foreign passport is and at least proves you aren't trying to steal a kid that looks like your child.

Already a national ID number you can ask for. Just no national ID card until 8 years old. Thai passport is good photo ID 1500 baht and lasts 5 years.

No i dont think they hate us at all Have you ever seen Thai people saying hello to each other when they are out walking ? No In Aus they always say hello when walking Thai people dont have any manners Like thank you How was your Day? Anywonder they are like that because they are not taught manners at school at all
They're taught manners day in day out at school. It revolves around the wai, humility and terms of endearment. Greetings are about how are you, where are you going and have you eaten yet. Manners are different to the west but extremely important in Thai culture.

I think it's when you turn 8.

American Association of Paediatricians no tech for 2 and under and one hour a day up to 6 years old. Two hours above that. Based on over 200 studies. More creates an addiction and based on 17 years in lower primary I'd say it's true.

How did they invent copper wire?

I have rarely read anything here that was so incredibly shallow as this.
Totally. The true cynics are never disappointed but oh so joyless no? And this dude added sexism and cultural contempt for a triple wammy.
How can some of us be happily married with kids? Maybe like every relationship you meet people halfway and realise you're in this thing together. No more me and you if there's an us. -
Because they're enjoying the last vestiges of a relaxed, "mai pen rai", non-Nanny State society. Globalisation is changing it at quite a pace. We'll miss it when it's gone [emoji17]
Best comment I've seen on TV for ages. There's a reason all advertising use the words easy, fun, cheap, relaxed and convenient. It resonates with the nevermind and take it easy ethos of the nation.
You just have to make peace with it or you'll be constantly aggravated. -
Awesome. Thanks a lot guys.

Hi guys,
Searched a few thread on this topic and wound up more confused.
So I'm looking for specific info from this year about which passport a Kiwi/Thai or Oz/Thai kid should exit and enter Australia and Thailand on?
Also what if any additional documents besides passports should we bring with us? His Thai mother has a tourist visa already and will be coming with us.
Many thanks in advance.

if you cannot spell.....don't comment.
I've seen the name of that market spelled four different ways anyway. He/she could be a second language speaker too. No need to invalidate someone's experience on the petty grounds of spelling errors.
I find the recounting of all these experiences valuable in planning how I'll pack my bags the next time I travel.
Thanks for your stories everyone!

So you did regardless, anyway!
Another poster asked for his examples.

In case anyone is wondering, for renewal of Thai drivers licence from 2 year to 5 year in Bangkok and surrounding provinces (as of yesterday) you need:
A 100 baht basic health check.
Work permit original and copy.
Passport original and copy.
You need to do the colour blind test, reaction test and peripheral vision test again. No written/computer test.
Takes 2 hours and costs 615 baht. Go at 8.00 am if you can or it could take up to 3 hours. Longer if they go to lunch.

No !! You go to the DLT that covers the address you live at, if you have tourist visa you will get another 2 year DL.
Great, had a WP for ages so just looking to upgrade to the 5 year DL.

Rules for other DLT offices maybe different so best to go the DLT you got your 2 year one from and ask them.
Ok, thanks. Can you go to any office? I did mine while on holiday and would rather not go all the way there.

Hi, has anyone upgraded their 2 year car drivers licence to a 5 year one this year? If so please post the required paperwork, health checks and required photos if possible. I know the laws regarding this have changed a few times over the last two years or so.
I'd appreciate any current info on this.
Many thanks in advance!

P.S. I just read what PDA told him on the phone. I suggest the OP goes there in person. I went there. They told me "no" because I only have 1 kid and she isn't 5 yet. They said their rule is: you must have 2 kids (of any age) or if you only have 1 kid, he/she must be at least 5 years-old.
I left with them laughing telling me to "go make another one" and then come back. Even the cleaner mocked me, lol.
However, when my GF phoned them to explain our exact situation, they said it would be OK and i should go back.
Anyone been to PDA in the last year or so?

Here are some links that may be of help to you bargain hunters:

Those links seem to be dead.

It had its day. After 2009 the trolling went up and 2012 it took over. Should have just moderated better/strictly. Was great 2005 to 2009. Thanks for the memories.

Watch Bloke's site looks awesome but he's not receiving any more repair work until he clears his back log. Any ideas for around bkk on weekends?
