Rules for other DLT offices maybe different so best to go the DLT you got your 2 year one from and ask them.
Ok, thanks. Can you go to any office? I did mine while on holiday and would rather not go all the way there.

Hi, has anyone upgraded their 2 year car drivers licence to a 5 year one this year? If so please post the required paperwork, health checks and required photos if possible. I know the laws regarding this have changed a few times over the last two years or so.
I'd appreciate any current info on this.
Many thanks in advance!

I'm 28.
P.S. I just read what PDA told him on the phone. I suggest the OP goes there in person. I went there. They told me "no" because I only have 1 kid and she isn't 5 yet. They said their rule is: you must have 2 kids (of any age) or if you only have 1 kid, he/she must be at least 5 years-old.
I left with them laughing telling me to "go make another one" and then come back. Even the cleaner mocked me, lol.
However, when my GF phoned them to explain our exact situation, they said it would be OK and i should go back.
Anyone been to PDA in the last year or so?

It had its day. After 2009 the trolling went up and 2012 it took over. Should have just moderated better/strictly. Was great 2005 to 2009. Thanks for the memories.

Hey guys, I'm looking for Toshiba Chromebook 2 retailers in Thailand, specifically Bangkok. Any thoughts??

Land Transport official told me the unwritten rule is the larger vehicle is always in the wrong. Even if motorcycle is on wrong side of the road. Car owners only get out of it if the bike rider is drunk.

Great replies guys, very helpful. Its encouraging to know with the kids young ages we still have some choices.
The bilingual schools (EP) are mostly full of Thais so can expect the same racial prejudices from other kids as Thai schools for luk kreungs? We are based in Bangkok. Or will the EP schools be a good cheaper option than international?
I've worked in three of Bangkok's leading EP schools over the last 16 years and have never seen or heard any prejudice towards luk krung kids in Thai or English. I must have done playground duty a thousand times and zilch.
Typically you have two or three foreign or luk krung kids per class so they won't be completely alone.
Truthfully I would not be concerned about this in the slightest for my own luk krung son. Thai kids by and large are compassionate and actually admire luk krung kids as evidenced by the popularity of luk krung tv stars.
Best of luck with it all mate.

For the younger kid no documents to switch but older child will need to bring the government cumulative record booklet that covers prathom or year 1 to 3. It's light green.

70 to 150k p.a. ACP's EP, BCC's EIP or a SARASAS EP for kindergarten age kids. Starting at 2 1/2 is more about social and emotional development, getting used to a few routines as well as giving mum a break.

Land Office in Khorat always asking for money. As it was a 5 year wait for the Chanote we just paid. It's a question of how much is your time worth to you. I have dealings in 3 provinces and Khorat is definitely the most bent.

Those older teachers were education graduates unlike many new hires who now only need to graduate in the subject they teach. Thus, many younger teachers have no background in pedagogy or classroom management let alone pastoral care. Many of the old dears I worked with a decade or more ago are sorely missed by me, students and the schools. I think it's a good stop gap measure.

You answered your own question "Farang" to describe some foreigner.''
Farang means foreigner.
Guava were called Farang because they came from abroad.
Dill is called pachi farang or pachi lao or foreign cilantro / Lao cilantro because it comes from another country.
Now; whats offensive is not the word itself; as 'foreigner' has nothing offensive, it's the fact that we are defined by it. Referring to someone as the 'farang' is a constant reminder that he is not part of a community.
No they don't.
Never heard a Thai use
that word.
Thais say Negro for anyone who looks African. Farang is an inoffensive and quite normal Thai word for anyone Caucasian looking.

Thai Court Says Delay of Elections Is Constitutional
JAN. 24, 2014BANGKOK — A Thai court ruled Friday that a postponement of coming elections, which protesters have worked feverishly to block, is lawful under the country’s Constitution.
The decision by the Constitutional Court was a blow to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and surprised many legal scholars, who say there are no provisions under Thai law for a delay.
Some constitutional experts described the decision as a form of judicial coup d’état because it could leave a power vacuum if elections were not held.
An aide to Ms. Yingluck said on Thai television that the government would study the court’s decision. But he also seemed to leave the door open for negotiations with opposition forces, especially the Democrat Party, which is boycotting the elections.
Explaining its decision, the court said in a short statement that the Constitution “does not absolutely mandate that the election day cannot be rescheduled.”

The other thing to remember is that Thais tend to do a lot by word-of-mouth. When some students like you, they tell other people and the word gets around fast. It's a matter of getting your foot in the door, doing a good job, being liked and you will have plenty of work.
Sound advice.

Are you going to offer any reasoned argument or just the redneck simian jibes of a bitter old man?Grow up or shut up. I would prefer that you shut up, but I suppose that's too much to ask.Ridiculous .How come this leftover farang compared the two circumstances in the same way and offered the same solution. Try to use your little brain to think differently .I pointed out how one was excluded from the other. Only one solution was offered. Read carefully or join my grade two class. Are you going to offer any reasoned argument or just simian jibes and insults you sad man.
Arjans better anyhow, some intelligent posts there. Bye.

This is meant for general consumption and directed at anyone in particular. You know something, life is not simple. Idiots are simple.QUOTE(Ravisher @ 2004-12-02 13:20:12)
> If you have a problem with one Thai woman, try another, and another... if after half a dozen or more you are still having problems... then analyse 'yourself'.
Thanks for the advice. Did it work for you?
Idiots are simple but here people can make life more difficult than it has to be. You have some agency in the direction and/or simplicity of your life.
. I, too, have observed that Thai culture in general does not have much concept of self or integrity. The lower classes of Thai culture have almost none. Of course, there are rare exceptionsWell off Thais or those who still have the good values their parents gave them in the village before they came to BKK can have a nice humble version of integrity.
You have a point about the lower class BKK barrio Thais who have lost their original village values and feed negative jelious energy into everything. Many of my students parents are good people who stand by their word (ergo have integrity). They offer help should I ever need it 'cause they know the sketchy ones are out there, and they want you to like Thais and Thailand. These good people have restored my faith in Thais and my love of their country.
By about the 3rd Thai GF I had hit the right one. Nice middle class family, educated, financially independent, travelled and genuinely caring. The previous one's were nasty slum types who had no integrity SO I took control of my life and dumped them. I'm no Brad Pitt, but just like the green buses there was another one along directly.
Many expats in a rut need to take control, not only of the woman they are with, but the job and Thai friends they have. Then life here can be fantastic.

Maybe Mr. Marwan Barghouti deserves to be in the klick but then so does Ariel "The butcher of Lebanon" Sharon. Only the Palestinians can't arrest them 'coz all their cops have been shot.
Yitzak Shamir (former PM) was in the Zionist terrorist cell that blew up the King Davis Hotel in 1946 killing HUNDREDS.
That's actually when the poms coined the phrase 'terrorism'. Arrest him for genocide. This act got the Jews a state and was a profound lesson on how to get statehood to the Palestinians. Perhaps we should view more than the last CNN week when we debate international guily and have a big f%$^king laugh about someone doing extreme things in the name of liberation that would get him a medal of honoe in the US or it's Zionist puppet.

Um Tiger !!!!
Cheap and tasty. Sold everywhere now too! Love it.
Did Carlesberg pull out because Thai mgmt were creaming all the profits? And then the parent company fired them to replace them with farangs and then the Thai Govt said you can't do that!???
Fact or Fiction?
