  1. That is a nice thing to do. But pay the college your self. You will probaly still have to give her an allowance.

May be their is a college in her home town. that she could attend

  2. Iv got a feeling the op is telling the truth !!

A cop standing out side the door. when the bill was checked. and the management not willing to

negotiate. Normally bib will try to come to an arrangement, Before taking someone. to the police

station. As in this case. The op was just carted off. Untill the bill was paid " yep scam "

  3. that is ridiculous , so we have to carry passport and work permit all the time ? everywhere ? this witches hunt is going nowhere.

It's a very normal and standard practice (world wide I dare say...) that you have to carry your ID. In this case, you are in a foreign country and your only valid ID is your passport.

As for the workpermit, read the last page. It says: "Warning" and then the first item reads:

    1. A permit holder must keep the permit with him or at the place of work during working hours in order that it may be readily shown to competent official or the Registrar. Any violation thereof shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht.

Very easy and straight forward rules...what's there to complain about...?

You want to work...you follow the rules...

Easy? In my opinion, having to carry the original everywhere you go exposes you to an unacceptably high risk of pickpocketing (not to mention putting a lot of wear and tear on it, what if you get caught outside in a rainstorm with it in your pocket). If a photocopy is not sufficient, then there should be a system whereby foreigners can apply for an ID card that they can carry around instead.

And BTW, in Australia there is no law that anyone has to carry ID around with them.

That's because Australia is a democratic country with an independent judiciary, and police service that impartially enforeces and respects the law. See the difference

Spain. is an democratic and independent country's with independent police service to hat.

Impartially enforces and respects the law.ID MUST BE CARRIED AT ALL TIMES. See the difference ?

  4. Yep I gave my Driver 4000bht and my maids I gave each 2000bht. I find giving money better then food and a few days off so they can visit their family

Yep I gave my driver 5000bht and the maids 2000bht each and a few days off so they can visit their family would be good

  5. I use one of these metal cage contraptions with a spring-loaded front door. I can't recall why but for some bizarre reason I've been using a cherry tomato as the bait and it seems to work. Mostly you can only catch one at a time, but it's humane and the traps only cost around 80 Baht so you could always have a few of them. Once I catch one i take it for a drive and then release it. I must be getting soft in my old age...

  7. @ Meatboy

According to the latest data from the Office of National Statistics, the average weekly wage in the UK is £442 a week, so a tad under £23,000 a year.

After tax and National Insurance deductions that equates to a take home pay, at current rates, of £1,500 a month. Factor in things like Coucil Tax and the like and the average salary isn't too hot.

I will admit to occasionally looking at whether I would be better off back 'home' but the thought doesn't stay with me for long.

I thought the basic hourly rate was in the region of 6 quid and hour . Thats less than 1000 GBP per month before tax. the majority of workers would be on less than 12,000 per year .
£6/7 An hour would be for unskilled work. Mostly done by eastern europeans.

A trades man can earn £11-17 per hour.

Then you have manegers/ professions earning £25 +

Britain is not a low wage based economy.

Even thou the influx of immigrants are keeping wages down. for example.

6years ago a builders labourer. Would earn £10 Now he would earn £7/8 an hour.

I am a bricklayer earning £14 per hour. and have not had a pay rise in 5 years.

Before this was a good counrty to work and live. But now it is getting to be a struggle.

    Just to suvive

  8. I'm a builder and i have to say that That is the worst design for a house. I have ever seen!

Just does not work. and will be a nightmare to live in.

Probely impossible to sell as well.....Would suggest you stop building NOW. and red-design the house. to a more sensible design. that fits the plot

    EDIT.

    A tip.

Build a 2 storey house. it will give you more room.

For a pool. and relaxiing area

  9. If the label "Russian" were substituted for "black", as in "blacks are okay, we need them in Phuket" you would (one hopes) get people complaining about the racist comments. How can you publish such stereotype ideas that are so narrow-minded and bigoted? Cultural differences aside, they really have great European influence, are caucasian, and really have mostly the same type of cultural heritage as Europeans. In my opinion, if I may, it's just an attempt to bash a group of people who appear to be threatening the established EU stakeholders in Thailand. I am in no way defending Russians, I'm talking about the overt racism and bigotry that comes out in the open here in Thailand because many of the restrictions in Western countries are lifted. There are no legal bans on wearing swastikas, and Thai people wear them because they have essentially been inducted into Nazism through a carefully planned and strategic push to buy them out and turn them into puppets. The racism and bigotry in Thailand is so open and exposed, and this anti-Russian crusade is yet another example of this type of hate. But when it all comes down to the bottom line, it does just all end up with who gets to own what, who has the "power", and this issue really is about a power struggle for control, money and power in Thailand and Russians are an outside group to the EU members. If Russia were a member of the EU, I believe this open form of racism would not be expressed at all but they would instead be welcomed here. Since I'm American, I don't give a d*** about any of ya'll bigots here!!! (lol, just kidding, but not really). I hope to meet people here who can think independently and see people as human beings, part of the world and not as symbols of hate.

The reply I would expect from a left wing loony.

Criticize some one and out comes. the racist card..
