  1. Ladies & Gents

    A brief outline

I am a UK citizen marrying my Thai Fiancé on the 7th June holding a beach wedding in Phuket. I am fully aware of what is involved to make in legally binding regarding certificates, amphurs

My concern and question comes when applying for a settlement visa.

If my GF goes and has her TB & English test before we marry these will be in her Family name.

I believe once we marry then they give her name change documents to take to the Amphur she is registered at.

After we marry & whilst I am still in Thailand we plan on submitting a settlement visa application.

    So therefor her

    TB Certificate

    English Test Certificate

    Her Passport

Her ID card will all still be in her family name.

The wedding information / documents will legally bind is together.

What is my best way forward to cover this to ensure the embassy don't pull us up on this.

    Thanks

  2. Ladies & Gents advise please.

My question is once I return to the UK after getting married to my GF my then wife is going to do the running around necessary for the settlement visa.

    For example

Passport name change, TB test & English test plus I believe she needs to go to her home town to change her name on her Blue book at the Amphur she is registered at.

I believe once she has all the official marriage papers she will need to go to the Amphur to change her name at her village so she has my sir name. this will be on her ID Card and in her blue book.

Then she will need to apply for a new passport so she will have my sir name.

Then once she has done this she will attend a TB test and English test to ensure the certificates are in her new sir name before we apply for the settlement visa.

Do you know how long these steps take.

Have I missed any key info.

And will she get her old passport back at it has her visa in it already for the UK which is where she is now.

    Thanks People

  3. Picked it up in person another total nightmare. Paid for same day return flight from Phuket to Bangkok. Plane from Phuket delayed an hour so got to VFS 20 minutes late and it was shut. Therefor couldn't get return flight at 19.30 and picked passport up at 1pm following day and had to pay for another flight but looking back now it was well worth another 24 hours of no sleep :)

  4. Well says it all with a lot of help from many people on this forum and alot of people with opinions I submitted my GF Visitor Visa on the 3rd & got the email today to go collect from BKK so return flight from Phuket to Bangkok booked for tomorrow and I guess just time will tell but would like to say thanks to you all and I'll keep you updated. Hope no ones got experience of Wednesdays being the day of bad news.

I'll update tomorrow with the outcome & share my experience with you all.

  5. Thanks Gents.

This will be my 3rd visit to Thailand.

I have spend much of that time with her family which is all documented and we have many photo's.

Her manager is more than happy to keep her job open for her.

I'm not saying the position won't be filled whilst she is away but there will be a job available to her on return.

The letter is based out of truth and what more can I do.

I take on board the letter being in Thai even tho the manager can speak and write English.

I would just get it translated.

    Any other comments.

  6. Thanks for reading.

I am about to apply for a uk visit visa for my Thai GF.

She has spoken to personnel at her employment and they are happy to write a letter on headed paper which will be stamped and signed.

She works in a restaurant / pool bar serving food and drinks as a waitress and her personnel showed her a letter they issued to another employee recently and she has sent me a photo of it which I have copied the wording but added a few sentences. Her manager said basically tell me what you want me to write and I'll do it for you.

She has worked there since May and they are happy to keep her job open for 3 months until she returns.

We plan on submitting application on the 3rd and visa permitting planning on flying to uk on 16th of January together all being well

She will actually finish work on the 28th of December to meet me in BKK for the 29th. All being well she will return to Thailand on 13th April and return to work on the 16th April

    Shall I include all dates.

What I am after help with is there anything missing from the basic letter from them which could be very important for the embassy to see.

I know I have covered a lot and any feedback would be great......

Do you think my sequencing is correct or should it be laid out differently. I was thinking of putting it all into a folder indexed 1-32. Do they keep the folder or pull all the paper work out of the folder. So many questions I guess I will just learn

If you been brave enough to read this and reply I can't thank you enough.

  8. Gents

Thank you very much for your time and effort to read and reply. I appreciate it very much....

Got lots of positives to take from this..... A few negatives are that

Everything is positive apart from as follows...

Am I being realistic regarding applying after 6 months as just had a visa company ring me and tell me there experience is it will fail due to only being 6 months and they believe I need to wait until 9 months before I even try....

She needs to prove she will return which will be covered by a letter from her work to say her job is left open for her fingers crossed... As she has no land or motorbike to prove otherwise.... My family intend to visit her once she returns to see her home town ect.... They will state this in the supporting letter.....

Also she has no money in the bank and lives on 6600 baht to cover living, bills & eatin ect so her savings are minimal also if at all...

But I take on board all you have said and I am very grateful for your time.....

  9. Gents.

Thanks for taking the time to read this I guess if you seen the title you can feel my pain...

In December myself and my thai girlfriend plan on applying for her first visiting visa to the UK and fingers crossed she is excepted. Currently I am building a evidence portfolio for the visa. I am 31 and she is 28.

If i'm honest you may think i'm nuts but we met June 2011 and spent the best part of 10 days together where she showed me the island of Phuket and we flew to Pattaya too.

We speak for a hour a day on the phone and communicate via Skype regually we have email contact ect. I have done my home work via forums and friends..

I return In mid October for 3 weeks where I will meet her mother who i speak to regually on the phone and she is happy that her daughter is happy and gives us full concent to travel Thailand and her to visit the UK (Visa Permitted)

My parents are going to Phuket this December and they will meet her and her mum for dinner so i'm sure this will help greatly with the visa application as she will stay with me and my family if the visa is granted.

I then return December the 30th and we have another 16 days together during this time we plan on applying for a UK tourist. I know its about submitting and praying hard but we have nothing to hide and i hope its about do the right thing and the right thing will happen.

I guess i'm inquiring about settlement visa / finance visa I know i not even got the 1st visitor visa yet. But ideally if all continued as it is id lie to propose to her and its what we spoken about in dept the future and life ect.

If thats the case and I do is the best visa to apply for still a visitors visa or a fiancé. I know the embassy are suspicious about relationships as short as this.

Does anyone have any experience about Thai marriages. My friend had his GF come over for her second visit on a finance visa and they got married here in UK.

Ideally I know I'm talking future but I'd like to get married in Thailand but it seems very hard to make it legally biding for a settlement visa. Is it possible to do or does anyone know the step by step procedure into getting correct paper work in order and the step by step procedure. We have spoken about getting married in her home village in Udon Thani which I would like very much.

I hope someone can make sense of what i've typed but it's flying about in my head and if anyone can clear any of my questions up then i'd be a very grateful member.

    Thanks for your time....
