  1. The water filtration systems range from 4,000 - 6,000baht, some have 3 filters and some have 5 but always with UV. There usually is2 micron filters and a carbon filter, which filter chlorine and heavy metals / containment's,the UV is the only thing that kills Bacteria. So you need to make sure it is onand working before you start dispensing the water. The filters should be changed usually every 3 month's on the 3 filter systems (unsure on the 5 units) .

The water machines you see outside for 1baht a litre arethe exact same thing

Personally I have never bought bottled water, for one Idon't trust the supplier (previous scandals) and two, it's too expensive.

  2. No one can answer this question, unfortunately you will just have to wait and find out. The gov are saying to expect "1m of flood water in Bangkok" however it's not guaranteed what will happen as no one has any real idea.

  4. I personally have two 25L drinking water barrels, which I use at a water machine for about 0.70 baht a liter. It's the next best thing to having a UV water filter fitted on the sink, which sometimes can't be done at certain condos etc.

The UV won't work if there is no electric and it won't kill the bacteria if no water, so fill up a 15+ litre as a backup.

whats the water taste like from them water purifier things?

Think the opposite of Perrier and other great tasting waters.

The local Family Marts in Hua Kwang area has been sold out on bottled water for two days now, i went to Big C and Tops Supermarket in Ratchada/Cultural Center aswell, same situation there.

Have stocked up with Juice, Coke, Fanta and Sprite, Milk, Soy Milk instead.

    :bah:

I was at Tesco in Phra Ram 9 last night and managed to get the last toilet tissue they had, there is no water or dried food there also. Same for Big C Ladprao left from the Ratchada - Ladprao section.

  5. Here is a copy and paste from The Nation:

Bangkok governor orders evacuations of residents of 27 communities

    October 22, 2011 6:03 am

Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra Saturday issued a warning for residents of 27 communities along Chao Phya River to evacuate immediately.

The governor issued the warning at 4:28 pm. He said residents of the 27 communities outside flood barriers should leave their homes immediately as the river is swelling.

    (end of quote)

my comment: That's HOT news, of course. However, it grossly falls short of adequate information. Maybe the Governor didn't say, and the Nation didn't either: what are those 27 communities? Seems like essential information, to me.

I imagine I'm not the only one waiting to find out the answer!
