  1. Also, those who say that US always want something in return, i remember last year, in Sarnia,Ontario, Canada. There had a massive snowstorm and many people were stuck in their car on the highway. You know what, Canadian and American army were there to help, without asking for anything in exchange. This is not about loosing the face, this is about friendship and we, Canada, do the same when something happen in the US.

It is clear that this government can not handle the situation. Also not good for relations between those 2 countries.

Imagine if the Canadian military had dared to say "thank you for the offer, but we can handle the situation alone." that they have enough manpower and their helicopters are in the air all day on rescue missions. having a foreign speaking pilots in another fleet of helicopters around and providing the logistics for them could make things actually more complicated.

Why is that no good for the relations between those two countries. The Thai army has no issues with the US.

Why the ex navy seals of this forum are a) offended when the Thais decline the offer for help and thinks it's US bashing? and B) why turning to the worst insults just because someone said they don't need your help and can do it alone?

That are definitely not signs of great friendship.

The reactions the us navy have on this forum is exactly why the relation is going to be affected between those 2 countries. The militaries on the ship must be laughing like hell of the situation and Obama shall be doing the same. Thailand is already beeing bashed all around the world because of the way they handle the situation and it is going to be another argument to bash the new PM.

I am from the french province of Quebec and we can easily deal with american army. Thai army is regulary training with US army so your point in having problems is not good. Thai would have benefit of this aid but seems like the PM prefere seeing people die instead of working for them.

Yingluck thought help by US helicopter would be a good thing. Thai air force commander said we can do that alone and more helicopters in the air by a foreign force could create more problems that it would actually be a help or something the Thai military forces could not do alone.

Let's hope not another civil die because this is a bad decision.

  2. ...today the US help you, tomorrow they'll be ready to reclaim the favor and put it in your a**...

and don't tell me it never happened before

Yeah..........yippie. Finally someone who hits the nail on the head.

US starts moving 3 battle ships into the Thai Gulf.......offer their help which is declined and then they start to moan that their help is declined.

Please US, stay out of this and solve your own shit first. (Oh and please do not refer to the Marshall plan, that was more than 60 years ago and Europe is still suffering.)

Help should come from UN and Red Cross. US is represented in both organisation and that should do it.

Just so I get it right: HERE we are, facing a crisis in drinking water ( i assume) like never before in the history of Thailand. And THERE is a nuclear powered battle-ship, that can produce hundreds of thousands of liters EVERY <deleted> SINGLE DAY and you send them away , because you don't like them? Nobody asked you to hang out with them on Nana! No one asked you to make a pilgrimage to the harbour every evening and praise them! They offered help and I am afraid, we will need all the help we can get! Soon! So put your sentiments behind you for who-ever-you-pray-to's sake!

So far there is no indication as to who exactly refused USA naval help.

There are 6 pages of assumption here that it was the Prime minister or her team.

Given that she has already invited U.S.relief efforts and previously asked for, and accepted U.S. helicopter support it might be unlikely that it was her personal refusal of help from the U.S. Navy.

So, exactly who turned down this offer of assistance ??

    Any ideas ???

The Navy are saying there was one channel of acceptance and one of " no thanks".

Be nice to know who said no and why.

The prime minister is always the leader. If she say no and the army say yes, it is no. If she yes and the army say no, it is yes. Pretty easy yo deduct who refuse US help.

  3. Unbelievable...

So many people lost their life because of their bad decisions and they still take bad decisions. Who think like a fish in this government? Have you taught at the after flooding? No... I see a civil war coming...

Please... Throw all sinawatra family out of this country. You are going to resolve half of the problems this country have.

  4. Since this isssss Thailand. I would invest in some million, billion watt speakers and she how she reacts. Maybe she likes you ?

I have no doubts about that! When you challenge someone who is listening to hard rock and club music, you have to challenge him with something agressive! by listening to Celine Dion, she showed me that she is maybe heartbroken or just sad about some events happenning in her life. Today, I will do like the Thai Visa mate told me earlier and put on some Prodigy. will see with what she challenge me and knock to her door for a diner. Would be nice not having to go to Route 66 to get a lady (I get the GIRL NEXT DOOR this time!!)

  5. So, you are admitting that you are a bloody nuisance as a neighbour and, you are saying your neighbour is a pain for playing music loud enough to drown out yours rather than knock on your door and tell you how much of a peanut you really are.

Think I'd rather live next door to her than you.

Easy to do the big arms when you dont know to who you are talking to but let's say that my landowner will throw you out before having probs with me. There is some free spot in my block if you really want to show me how courageous your *peanuts* are.

  6. I found this post to be quite unsympathetic to the plight of so many villagers and townspeople who are, and will continue to be, inundated. I assumed it was sheer ignorance on your part to post such a message...I hope I was right, and not that you are as merciless as this post comes across.

Save your breath, the guy is clearly a numb-nut spreading misinformation. Probably thinks he's a hero putting down his own kind in front of the locals, though unbeknownst to the dolt, they take almost as dim a view of that carry-on as they do farang slagging off Muang Thai.

Good advice. Time for the ignore button.

    Cheers thumbsup.gif

where is the ignore button so I can use it too?

  7. I live in the northern part of Hwaykwang, not far from Ratchada, just north of Suttisan. About an hour ago the neighbors told us that the BMA has said that our neighborhood will be about 1 meter deep in water tomorrow. I didn't see or hear this announcement myself, but everyone is going crazy with tarps and sandbags!

I live in south Huay kwang and it still pretty calm. 1 meter... ouch! let's see tomorrow...

Right now it's dry as a bone here! I've been watching the Klong water levels online (and occasionally in person). The two closest klongs are not rising, but Klong Lad Prao has gone up about 20cm in the past 10 hours.

I live next to a canal (ratchada soi 10). will ask my GF when she arrive in about an hour about the situation.

  9. I have a pioneer home theater system and when I am cleaning the apartment, I like to listen to some music. Today, I putted David Guetta and Daughtry. I found out that my neighbor, who is a young student, was challenging me by listening to some Celine Dion. I know I am a bad ass with my HT because the sound coming out of this thing is so incredible but what to think of this situation? I am wondering if I have to knock at her door and offer her a diner (and prob some plus after...)

you really have to be desperate to listen to this kind of music...

  10. For those who were not prepared one week ago, this is already too late. There is no drinkin water anywhere and same thing for food.

There's no way the city's dry. People may just have to look a little bit further afield than usual.

You are probably correct ..... for the moment.

But with roads blocked and factories and warehouses flooded, and surrounding vegie and chicken & pig farms flooded .... how will they restock the 7/11's, markets, etc

This is one of the real problems that disasters such as this bring and which need solutions now.

I don't think many people have to be worried about drowning .... the worries are food, water, medical, and losing mobility and communications.

And of course shelter for those who have to evacuate.

Dont go far. Big C and tesco lotus are all out of drinking water and food. 7 Eleven freezers are empty and no refill since a week. some restaurant or street food booth just tell you they can not cook some dishes because they are out of food. Bangkok is safe for the moment but all the suppliers in the north are flooded. As you say, it takes immediate actions.

There are also automatic water machines that can be used to fill plastic bottles... It can be of some help... before flooding water arrives.

I already filled my empty bottles with the automatic water machines. I am more than ready for what is going to arrive but so sad for those who are not. As you say, those machines will be unusable after flooding and forget about buying water at the grocery... Empty!

  12. For those who were not prepared one week ago, this is already too late. There is no drinkin water anywhere and same thing for food. I think this announcement is well done for a prime minister but with some lack. Not enough informations and she have to give us a direct time and date. Not only during the weekend.

Thai visa mates, we dont know what is awaiting us. For those who appreciate me and for those who dont, i wish you safety and hope to see you again arguing here soon. For now, only god knows what is going to happen...

My food is ready, candles ready, water ready and stuffs on second floor.

    Peace guys...

  13. The way you're talking, anyone would think there's gonna be a 50-foot tidal wave heading down Soi Cowboy. Get a grip or get a flight

The way you are talking, you seems to know everything before it happens. If you are one of those experts, you shall have worked with the PM. Maybe you would have saved us! Get a grip or get a flight!

    !

  14. why would you post a comment like that? Its not as if they crank open 200 flood gates and a tsunami wall of water comes raging out to kill everyone in the path. In the government's defense, the do nothing option would result is crushed walls, water toppling over and the tsunami type of impacts. IE - deaths would occur. So give the government credit for picking the least of two evils and having the gutts to make a very tough decision. Its a touch decision for those who have never been in that type of position. This is a 150 yr flood situation, the government can not build walls high enough to protect the entire city. In the end Bangkok is built in a low lying area, the government developed canal and a system to deal with a 100 yr flood. its rained alot, they done a good job mitigating for 3 months, but you can't always beat mother nature

okay... when? people are going to walk on the streets and suddenly being hit by a fast and heavy flow of water. Very smart!

Sadly, you seems to have a problem reading. As i said, the government only said that they are going to open the gates. When are they going to open the gates? Can you tell me? Because i dont want to be in the streets when this happens and no one want to. Is it going to be tomorrow morning or during the afternoon? If you know the answer, tell me because i know i have lot of food and water at home to survive a long time but maybe when the flow arrive, i wont be at the right place and die.

Now, you really have to explain me how the job was good because or we dont live on the same planet or you are just not aware of the situation. They were holding the water all this time. Where do you expect it to go? Evaporate or the sand will drink it? Maybe it will just disapear? Water from the north have to pass through bangkok to get to the sea. This is logical. Also, if you hold it, it will gain strengh and, at the end, going to pass through bangkok. If they would have accepted to flood bangkok a few weeks ago, we would not be here talking about that. The decisions she took was only political and not about the good of herp citizens. Experts are telling her since a few weeks how dangerous is the situation and she was blind to their suggestions. The tv channels all around the world are bashing her and you are the only one who received the light of truth? Come on! Go tell your speach to the 320 families who lost someone that the pm did well and see what is going to be their answer. In this situation, you can not be selfish and even as a PM, you have to admit you dont have the knowledge and listen to the experts.
