  1. Hi, Exactly same position as yourself - I have only kept my Account open with KK as was considering trying for a DTV Visa for future use. Used to have a 12 month Retirement Visa but that went out at Covid time, Same as yourself never 180 days or more - just liked to visit each year - Bank Account there useful. All Ok at UK end - they are aware I hold the KK Account - but with the size of the Form detail and sending back of Internet - not happy to get involved.
  2. Hi All, Recntly received an email from bank with request to infill 3 forms ref FATCA/CRS Individual Self-Certification. I have no problems with that at all - but can anyone supply info on what this is all about? Would like to be sure I can 'revive' 12 month Retirement Visa as previously held - lapsed due Covid 'debacle'. Best Rgds
  3. Hi Brandon, Good information - thnxs so much - last piece in jigsaw - as I understand it fee for DTV @ 10K baht. Same for Dependent I presume? Best Rgds & Thnxs
  4. Hi Bob + All, After much reading in the Forum - I will be trying for a DTV /Medical - a follow on from medical stuff earlier this year. Account stuff etrc - not a problem. On reading through all I did see someone state that my wife could 'tag' onto same Visa Application - but I now cannot see where I read that. It was an entry from someone - maybe yourself? - who was detailing their own Application. Can anyone confirm that is the case or will I also have to apply DTV for my wife seperately - she is Non Thai ( French.) Bets Rgds

  6. Hi Bob, Just to say - excellent post - thnxs.
  7. Hi Keeps, Thnxs for link - good stuff - I see from one or two points that can only apply from 'outside' Thailand.
  8. Hi Keeps, Thnxs for detail - when I initially tried for Visa via UK - maybe 15 year ago - frankly I gave up and then I discovered the method through CM - when in CM - itwas good in that you could talk with the Officials face to face etc. I cannot see what I have previously held for 10+ years - as a Non Immi O Visa - purpose Retirement - it was good but same seeking renewal each year. I like the look of the DTV - I presume I could justify for medical stuff as have had one eye fixed quite brillianlty at Sriphat and would have no trouble obtaining a letter from them for other eye.
  9. Hi, Was not aware -thnxs. Last visit start of this year - just breezed in as Tourist and extended plus another 30. Have to say immi were very helpful and welcoming. Rgds
  10. Hi shdmn, The points you make absolutely 'spot on' as I see it for myself also - would not be working - but can certainly fit the 'nomad' part. ;o)) DTV seems much more flexible = perfect. At outset I tried for Retirement Visa from UK way back well over 10 years ago and it was a mess - got all the way across Uk to where directed and they were most unhelpful - then up came the 1 /3/12 month route in Chiang Mai and all went well these last 1o years until the Covid things upset all. Point is can I do DTV when I get to Chiang Mai - as with previous Retirement Visa type 'O'. Funds will be in Bank etc ready for the 'off'. So thnxs for reply - stay safe and well - Chok Dee.
  11. Hi All, Quite some time ago - maybe 12 years or so - advised by very helpful people on this Forum ( particularly a lady - by name Nancy - my thnxs ) on how to go about obtaining a Retirement Visa via Chiang Mai Immi. Worked like a charm using the 1 month - 3 month - 12 month route - available at the time via Chiang Mai Immi - for both myself and wife, We renewed each year for next 7/8 years - come Covid all 'down the tubes' . Following a 2 month visit this last New Year - wonderful welcome from all we knew - now looking to possibly try for DTV Visa. Ideally it would suite if it could be done once more at Chiang Mai Immi as opposed to in UK - 6 hours travel London etc.. Does anyoone know if that route is possible - funds sitting in Thai Bank etc for both of us - since way back then, Best Rgds
  12. Hi, Thnxs reply. Yup I am wandering through 83rd year right now - stopped with the IT stuff circa 65. Then a bit of 'Volunteer' work - for 'free' - life not been bad - try to put something back in. I emphasised the Nomadic bit too much - by that I simply meant done a fair bit of wandering but always 'attached' to UK. I place a new section / specific question at foot below, Bets Rgds
  13. Hi CMBob, Yes that is exactly what we had - worked just fine - funding not problem. Just as my wife could not take the Summers temperaturewise and also get down to see 'hers' in France - we only ever managed 5 months Thaiside - although original intention was longer. So then along comes DTV - which seems to indicate less hassle for us - 5 years - easier exits & re-entries - a couple of those and my time this side of the 'great divide' will be done ;o)) So not so much costs just looking for less hassle - so checking around. Thnxs for input - best rgds.
  14. Hi All, For many years wife and I each held Non Immi 'O' Visa 'Retiremnt' - necessary 800k each in a ThaiBank. We used the 30day/90day/12month 'Retiremnt' Visa route originally @CM - then renewals each year - always very helpful. Stay of circa 5 months every year - avoiding the summer heat - time then available visiting families UK - Europe. Along came Covid and other matters and we found ourselves 'stranded' UK. We would now very much like to 'un-strand' and are considering the DTV Visa - which would seem to be ideal. I worked since 1960s IT - Program/Systems - can't get much more 'Nomadic'. During the previous period never required or wanted Health Insurance although used Thai Hospital services rarely but as necessary. Eyesight now back to 20/20 thanks to Sriphat Hospital - brilliant. Any opinions out there ref Non Immi 'O' Visa 'Retirement' versus DTV Visa? Is Health Insurance now 'mandatory'for either? - much prefer Pay&Go for Hospital Services. Best Rgds
  15. Hi All, Had an eye operation back in Febuary this year - Sriphat Eye Clinic - plastic lens inserted to sort out Cataract problems - very very successful - vision now as in days of my youth - 20/20. Result felt almost 'miraculous' at the time. Operation day my wife got into conversation with an English lady (Dorothy) who was there for same treatment - my impression - maybe a long time resident. Plus there was a Thai chap also in for some of the same. Much excitment next day when returned for eye covering removal. Results really astonishing for myself and also apparently for the others also. I then discovered that 'Dorothy' was in for another session on the other eye - I guess one at a time - 'just in case'. As a 'no return' necessary for me (Sriphat made it all seem so easy) - we wondered how it all went for 'Dorothy' and second eye. If anyone knows the lady I mention here - wife and I would really like to know how it all went - hoping for the very best outcome for a very nice person. From discussions we had the impression that her 'need' might have been greater than mine. Cheers.
  16. Hi Roy + all and sundry Finally got it fixed via a friend in Thailand who phoned them for me - they reimbursed plus fixed it so that I still get txt messages for Bnak etx - but I can decided upon which to stop or otherwise. They worked some 'trick' or other, Plus the 'magic; dial command from anywhere in world is ##002# - really seems to sort it out. ;o)) Thnxs all for Advice. Best Rgds
  17. I have now narrowed my 'Credit Eating' down to 2 TXT which come in regularly. They tell me I will be lucky if I keep Silver Fish etc, etc. Names Taiduang TamnaiChock Problem is it seems to be hitting the Credit by maybe 20 Bhat a time. From outside Thailand is there any Control Code to stop all txts - best for the moment. Control Codes like #123# work fine from my location. I would put a STOP on them but No Tel for the Txts
  18. Hi Everyone, On checking Internet I found the excerpt below - problem is although True Control codes e.g #123# = Balance work ok for me in Europe. The *137 as per below does not - anyone any ideas on this? I tried making it as a Call but No Not recognised from here. ...................................................................................... Eventually, I got around to looking it up and found that it’s very easy to unsubscribe from the SMS spam sent by True themselves: Call *137 from the phone you want to unsubscribe (I had to put the SIM from my tablet into a phone to make the call). Press 9 for English. Follow the automated instructions (as of 2014, you press 1 to unsubscribe from SMS spam although this may have been changed to pressing 2 in April, 2020.).
  19. Plenty to check - will do that - thnxs.
  20. Hi, Yes that sort of thing rather than a more Tech situation is my main worry - thnxs
  21. Hi Richard, That is my next more - SIM out - just did it - all Apps I need still seem to work ok, Thnxs Reply.
  22. Hi NovaCova, Thnxs for reply - will check that out - I think the whole situation started up when I used a TrueH Wiifi package for first time - I usually have my Huawei Router with me. Just checked this morning - down to 6 Bhat again. ;o)) Will try the 'Data OFF' see how it goes. Cheers
  23. Hi All, A problem with my TrueH SIM . I am presently in Europe - my Mobile has a UK SIM plus my TrueH SIm. My Thai SIM Credit is being 'eroded' maybe a small amount each day - really annoying. I have topped up several times and off it goes down again bit by bit each day - but not an exact amounts e.g 20 Baht. I have been right through the phone settings and actuallly switched OFF the Thai SIM in SIM manager but still the Credit keeps being 'chipped' away. Roaming of course is OFF - in fact everything I can think of is OFF. I need Thai SIM for various Thai situations so want to leave in Phone - I just switch it ON if needed - check the CREDIT etc. Is there any way to actually see what these small Debits are?? Maybe something not to my phone SIM - something elsewhere - TrueH? Any all ideas more than welcome. Best Rgds
  24. Hi, sorry no reply before now - Dr Preeyanuch Khunsongkiet - a lady. Initially frightened the life out of me - found every little thing ref my eyes - some of which missed in UK - but once I got the hang of how she explains - not a problem - gave me plenty of time to ask questions - I had read up a lot in anticipation. I am always a little reticent to recommend - but seems to me this lady is the 'real deal'. Good luck. By the way I went for Mono Distance Lens ( left eye) - in fact it lets me see pretty well after a meter onwards - trying to read with it only a little fuzzy. My right eye can handle short and reads well but gets a little fuzzy ( just a little) over/after 3 metres or so. Not sure if just my Brain or same everyone - but amazing - using both eyes now reading well - I suppose that is the right eye but also can see forever - ( must be the left). More than pleased - delighted and when the time comes ( Cataract now forming right eye) I think will go for Mono near focus and hope Brain does what it seems to do now - sorts it all out.
  25. Thanks for the comments - one and all = yes the 'posh ' Coat of Arms ' is/was our TM30s as per via UbanJoe. This Forum really is the 'Bee's Knees' . Looks like it might just get to be a bit 'rocky' - but whatever - have a good Year one and all. Best Rgds
