  1. Hi BritTim, Not sure I like that - never before - I always just had to just cough up the 1900 Baht. Things become 'tight' due to the Covid 'Imbroglio' ?? Best Rgds
  2. Thanks to everyone for the very clear advice. Want to know anything Thai at all - log into ThaiVisa ( ASEAN) Funds already in situ - have been since 'way back' - so apart from the Jet Lag ( getting on a bit these days ) - Bank Visits - Immi queues? - seems just a matter of out of the 'starting blocks' PDQ. Once again thnxs to all.
  3. Thnxs Bob - grateful - that's the one. Do you happen to know how soon after a TM87 success you can go for the TM7 Trying to judge arrival dates to get underway so that the annual renewal - assuming we succeed - comes at right time for our yearly walkabout to UK and wifes folks in France etc. Best Rgds
  4. Hi Everybody, For maybe 10 years or so my wife and I held the Non Immi O Visa 12 months Purpose Retirement. While on visit to UK - Covid put a 'lid' on that. Maybe you should never go back to anything - but we intend to try next 6 weeks or so. We are heading back Chiang Mai hopefuly to fix 12 month Visa etc - Purpose Retirement. Figure in as a 'Tourist' - then 90 days then 12 months. Necessary funds already in Thai bank - in fact have never left. So does anyone know what Form is required for the move to 90 days from 'Tourist' is it the TM7?? How soon can that be done? At the moment it seems it is up to 45 days as Tourist but I want to move to 90 Days and then 12 month Visa soonest so that an annual renewal comes circa February latest. Any and all advice more than welcome. I managed all those years ago for that first 12 months Purpose Retirement based on information from this Forum - indispensable. Best Rgds
  5. Hi Andrew, I had same problem and thoughts as Londinium above. My wife and I - both non Thai - ran for 10 years with Non O 12 month Retirments - CM a great spot. 2020 saw the whole thing fall apart due to Covid - now looking to pick up the threads. Had thought to try using a train ticket - but your suggestion much better. Still have our Banks etc there - so your 'onwardticket' is last piece in jig saw - thanks so much for that. Best Rgds.
  6. Hi all, Bit out of touch with Thai side stuff - previously had 12 month Retirment Visa - 'O' Non Imm. Approx last 10 years - stayed for many months each year then visited folks in Europe and UK. Covid rather put a 'lid' on that - stuck UK side of things - now hoping to start up once more. Both Spouse and I still have our Thai Bank Accounts each with sufficient funds. Thai Driving Lincense still valid. From fact checking route looks like previous. 30 Day Visa exempt entry >> 90 day extension >> 12 month Visa purpose retirement - is this still valid route? I just read that if 30 Day Visa exempt entry Flight ticket must show exit at 30 days. But as we would would be arriving intending to stay for many months is the above Ticket thing for real? Never met that before all those years - only once a query at UK departure airport pre-flight. If no go on 30 >> 90 >> 12 months for any reason would 'buzz off' down to Malaysia and then back for the Return Flight at later ticket date. Our Passports still have all the previous 12 Month Visa 'O' Non Imm stamps but now (sadly) with a 2 year gap. Comments gratefully sought. Best Rgds.
  7. Thank you - I realised after posting there was a Banking Forum - just did not want to mess up further. Apology. Best Rgds
  8. Hi All, Does anyone know anything ref recently advised changes - now delayed - to the use of PayPal in Thailand. I registered many years ago and have found it very useful in particular for getting birthday gifts to grandchildren no matter where in the world etc. Also of course useful for local purchases. Recently there has been advice of changes to come and there is one paragraph in the f.a.q that I could not see the reasoning for. Why not Debit Cards?? f.a.q paragraph as below. >>>>>>>>>>>> 'Do note that PayPal payments funded with a debit card issued from a Thai bank cannot be used to make payments in Thailand domestically. There will be no new restrictions on PayPal payments funded with a credit card.' paypal-thailand-consumer-faqs-en.pdf
  9. Does make you wonder - I know it exists - I had me a 'spoonful' - bizarre stuff like purple toes but with no pain at all - Vertigo - hair coming out - all now disappeared / corrected. Only sad thing - my best eye lost the 20/20 enjoyed all my life - not totally back. Heigh Ho - on we go. Best Rgds
  10. Understood - all pretty dodgy - I think now with all the useful feedback/input - I will wait it out until this coming Autumn - things seem to be 'breaking' almost daily as the 'powers that be' begin to back off. Best Rgds & thnxs
  11. We were just discussing this point - not keen on situation at all - I can see all manner of scenarios. I hit the big 'eight O' mid last year - so not worried - will take what comes along. Picked up the Virus right at the start 2020 before we knew what it was - few dodgy days and then no problem - so presume 'natural immunity - plus presently using Vit C Zinc and Quercetin. But of course as with even the Jabs - does not stop you 'carrying'. Thnxs for your input. Good health.
  12. Well I have great memories of my 10 years there - perhaps time to leave it at that. Thnxs for reply.
  13. Thnxs for heads up - what a mess that would be - we take Zinc Quercetin Vit C - but of course does not prevent - supposedly minimises. Best Rgds
  14. Thnxs - anything to spread out the 'shopping list' welcome. Best Rgds
  15. Thanks to advice here - I have been able to research pretty thoroughly to tie all the necessary together. Looks like with Test&Go - the following - but I have a couple of queries - hoping for answers here. 1. Passport - Flying in - Visa Waiver 30 days. 2. Fully jabbed - ensure Certificate of Vaccination etc, 3. Book Insurance 50,000 USD 4. Paid Reservation SHA Extra ++ – Day 1 - BKK to Hotel?? 5. Paid Reservation SHA Extra ++ – Day 5 - CM Hotel?? 6. Obtain Thailand PASS 7 days before travel date - needs Items 1 to 5. 7. PCR Test negative with 72 hours of travel. NOTE Reservation Fees at Hotel to include airport transfer + 2 RT-PCR test fees) and process the application within 24 hours. There seem to be a few SHA Hotels in Chiang Mai - but not cheap. My only question is can I leave BKK and travel to CM after only 1 night in BKK Hotel?? taking my Day 5 PCR Test at a CM Hotel?? If so can I move about freely or do I have to stay put/'hunker down' in either? I can go out to eat? Wish I had not 'chopped' that flight ( wife poorly ) back to BKK before this whole show got started. It was via Istanbul - never tried before - a first time for everything. Best Rgds
  16. Hi, A Thai friend just mailed - possibly a new policy this month has been announced - TEST & GO. Have they got this correct?? Does this mean we can now fly into Bangkok for example clutching our Double Jabbed and Negative Test Certificates and not be Rugby Tackled to the ground etc, etc?? Is there a TEST as referred to also at the Thai end?
  17. Hi Allane, Thnxs reply - see my response to ubonjoe. Best Rgds
  18. Hi Ubonjoe, Thnxs reply. Problem is we normally take a check out around summer months as wife cannot take the temperatures as we get into April/May. Last set of Visas were perfect - totally accidently - not planned - as renewal late Feb. Well at least I know what is what - thought it might be like that - understandable. Best Rgds
  19. Hi Everyone, My wife and I both non Thai held Retirement Visas for quite a number of years. We found ourselves 'stranded' on the 'outside' and so they 'expired' late 2020. We are now planning a return to Chiang Mai. If we return now and try for Visas it is likely any 12 month renewal would fall outside our preferred date range which would be annually between November and February. Does anyone know if a 12 month Retirement Visa can be renewed 'early' of the expiration date. So that we try for one now and then 'renew' to pick up that preferred date range. Best Rgds
  20. Just checked in the mirror - how about 70s? I put it all down to Chiang Beer previously consumed - but did you ever read 'The Portrait of Dorian Gray' - Oscar Wilde - that worries me. ;o))
  21. Sorry to come back on this - but just to clarify. So I take out the insurance - as I understand - it lasts for the 30 days that one would normally be staying if coming for a holiday. My intention >> arrive 30 days Visa waiver >> extend 90 days ->> 12 month Retirement Visa basd on Bank Balance. Do I have to take out further insurance to extend it and at which point? Is it now a requirement for all who stay long term? Best Rgds
