  1. As another poster already said, do not pay her debt in order just to get her car debt free. Instead get in contact with the loan company. All they want is their money back, so the outstanding amount, plus interest, plus cost of reposession. Usually they have to auction off the cars or do similar procedures.

So offer them all the outstanding amount, incl. cost, to buy the car (in your name) quick. That should work.

  2. The information from Crossy is spot on.

I ordered about 2 dozen things from china within the last 12 month for my house (to be built). I do not want to go into detail here, just my conclusion for you:

    1. usually, VAT and custom duty is added and has to be paid by you. Custom duty varies (on the kind of good), but the total can be 30 to 50 % of the original buying cost (it is also due on shipping cost). Handling customs can be a nightmare and has to be skipped by letting the task to the seller

    2. shipping cost is not cheap, unless you fill up a whole container

    3. I would only order again when I can agree on a DDP order with the seller, meaning all duty, tax and shipping cost is paid by the seller, so included in the total price you get from the seller. But that means that the seller is able and willing to do his homework on this and offer you a DDP price.

    4. Avoid things that have to be build in, like windows, doors, a kitchen. too many things can go wrong. Well possible are sofas, chairs, sculptures, beds, lamps

I agree. It is just too hard a sale for conservatives to accept a non-President can smash classified records on a hard drive with a HAMMER to destroy and it's totally fine, a non-President can store classified docs in what is essentially a crackhouse rented by national security nightmare Hunter Biden and again, it's fine. But don't let them catch a real President having some in a heavily guarded estate.

Sorry, not buying it. Looks like a 2 tier justice system.

When I started reading your post, I thought it is satirical. But you seem to mean it.

What worries me most is not that a carrier criminal can get to the highest ranked political position, but that so many people/voters fall for his lies and still stay in the cult, despite an overwelming amount of prove who this man is.

  4. That seems pretty intense and rigorous to me. But fine if it works for you.

I suggest a less dramatic change: Go to interval fasting, but not only for a short time, but permanently. There are different types of interval fasting. I do the 16/8, so the fasting time is 16 hours daily. For me, it is a breakfast around 9 or 10 am, and a big lunch/dinner at 15 or 16 h in the afternoon. I feel good and lost some weight.

  5. Dear, there are over 100 4- or 5-star Hotels in Jomtien, Just go on a hotel booking webpage like AGODA or BOOKING and put in the filter what you are specifically looking for (swimmingpool, wifi etc.). Welcome to the 21st century.

  6. Plutaluang is a navy golf course, its good value, but qualitywise rather low. You might consider Eastern Star Golf course nearby, with nice facilities, better maintained and not expensive either.

Just about 4 km south of Eastern Star is Phala Beach and a handful of cheap, simple resorts or hotels. Nothing to rave about. If you are looking for a nice experience, do not stay there. I do not know any special accomodation in this aera. It would therefore drive up to Na-Jomtien, maybe 20 km, where there are plenty of good to exellent hotels, like Moevenpick, Ravindra, Dor Shada and many other.

I sourced and  exported products from China to Germany for almost 20 years. No building materials, but electronic products, home appliances, small furniture and so on..

In my opinion it will not be worth it, and maybe in the end you have a lot of trouble and spend more money than if you had bought in thailand.

    - First you have to find a supplier in china, best is always to buy from a producer. The big ones don't even bother to reply if you only want to order one or two items.
Mostly they have some minimum order quantity, if you do not reach this minimum quantity maybe they will still sell to you, but for a much higher price.
Note that many products which you can see at alibaba, globalsources, made-in-china are sold from trading companies. They are selling all kinds of things also in small quantities.
They always post pictures of big companies and a group of workers, but in reality they are a one man or woman show. And let's face it, some are not really
reliable, especially after you transferred the money to them.

    - So even if you find a producer or trading company with a good product and price you have no idea about the product quality. I always ordered a sample first to get an impression.
If the sample is ok, you can continue. Many samples we ordered went almost immediately to the garbage, bad quality, bad packing, broken, wrong product, wrong colour, and so on.
Another way is you have someone in China who makes some quality control directly at the producer, and before the order will leave the factory. But  this will cost
     extra again.

    - Next Problem shipping . You quote 1900 USD for a container. But note there are many fees and charges on top of this 1900 USD. Handling and booking fees,  preparing
document fees, fuel charges and so on and so on, a long list of extras. Depending on which terms you buy in china, EXW, FOB, ect there can be easily 1000 USD on top.
And then the most unknown factor..custom in thailand...who knows how much they will charge you. And do not forget that you have to pay tax on the complete price of the order
    (product price + shipping fees)

In 2018 and 2019 I imported from China to Thailand two times, an e-motorbike, and a very small boat. Both items were half price in China compared to Thailand.
After checking shipping rates with air and seafreight and adding the custom tax, the price would be almost the same as in thailand.

So at the end I found a forwarder in China who ships goods to Thailand by truck. They have warehouses in all big cities in china. So the supplier can send the order to the warehouse and the forwarder sends it to a warehouse around BKK, there you can pick it up or for an extra fee they will make delivery to your place. Cost for shipping is a flat rate, depending on the product, volume and weight. The rate includes transport, custom tax and VAT, no extra fees. Both times it was sent from Guangzhou in China to BKK. The truck needed around one week, and the price was very attractive.
If you're interested you can send me a PM, i will give you the contact details.

Please note that i did that before covid. Since then freight rates have surely gone up a lot, and I have no idea if it is still attractive.

Thanks for telling your detailed experiences. So for you, not worth the effort.

The last 6 month, I made two purchases from china, both for the village I live in. Both orders were from a lamp company, first time 10 solar street lamps, the second time 4 solar spot lamps. They were directly delivered, door to door, the service was good, and so was the quality of the goods. I first wanted garden stand lamps instead of spot lamps, but because of the weight of the poles the delivery cost would have become to much.

    Interesting idea.

But then, if that would be feasible, don't you think some smart people would have done that already, and maybe on a big scale?

well, on a big scale it is happening since years. Most home marts do it.

Rather new may it be on a small scale, like a singe house builder buying directly. With the ongoing development of the digitalisation it is becoming more common and the buying process certainly is much easier than ever. However, many supplier on Alibaba and made-in-china demand minimum quantities that only suit bigger companies, like shops, distributors or Hotels. However, more and more suppliers also serve small customers, which only demand 1 or a few units of a good.

  9. Hello

I am in the process of building a house. I have come to the conclusion, that the prices and choices for building material in Thailand is ok, but not overwhelming. I have checked websites from Alibaba and made-in-china, both give an immense choice for everthing you could imagine, and mostly to good prices. I looked especially for tiles, window, doors, bathroom vanities, bathtub, and also furniture like sofa, beds, rugs. To buy there seems very tempting, especially since Thailand is so close to China.

The big issue is the cost and the unknown factors concerning shipping, tax and custom. A small container with 15 cbm to my door would cost around 1900 USD. Tax and custom are depending on the good, usually around 30 %.

My question: Has anybody experience with importing goods from china? How did it turn out? What were the goods? How much did it cost? Did you work with a shipping agent?

  10. Since february 2020, Mazda CX30 is produced locally at AutoAlliance Thailand Ltd.. So the sale price here in Thailand has nothing to do with the insane high import taxes for foreign cars.

The price for the car could and should be cheaper here, but obviously, the car market is not really competitive. To my knowledge, the car market in the USA is the most competitive one, and car prices are the lowest you usually get worldwide. It is a huge market, and every manufacturer is eager to reach good sale volumes.

Has he just woken up!  This was proposed and accepted months ago!  In fact it is already in situ according to yesterday's article on ASQs!  https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1201171-what-to-expect-at-asq-hotels-in-thailand/

"Golfers looking to tee up golf quarantine in Thailand, and who have all their advance arrangements in good order, will be allowed to undergo quarantine at an ASQ golf course hotel. During the mandatory quarantine period, foreign golfers are allowed to enjoy a round of golf and other health-related activities at the course on their personal expense account."

I am not aware of any ASQ golf course hotel where you really are able to play golf during quarantine, not did I find anything on the net. Can you name me one ASQ golf course hotel now operating?

  12. /This is a civil matter, not a criminal case. The police cannot do anything.

You can bring the matter to the civil court, however. You certainly have your case documented with a loan agreement in thai language, containing all the relevant facts, right? Then, the next step would be taking a lawyer. Calculate with an upfront payment of a least 3000 Baht. Your court date could be anywhere in the second half of 2021. Good luck.

The following is a condensed history of the last time, to my knowledge, that an attempt was made to establish a golf club owned by the members, ran by the members, for the members, in Thailand. These are not my recollections but my mother's and father's who were involved from the beginning. A little background.

There were already “members” where, for an annual fee, no green fee payment was required. Not content with this one concession, some members were able to form a member's committee working within the club. The most important item was that they were able to meet with the manager once a month to discuss members interests, also they were able to secure a F&B discount.

Due to the hoards of visitors playing to the detriment of members, a committee decision was made to pursue the take over of the club. They were lucky in that the driving force behind the idea was an influential westerner who had the ears of the rich and powerful in Thailand. This item was critical, as without it, they were doomed to fail.

The purchase price discussed was in the region of 1 billion baht. Obviously this was a no starter, but as the club had never turned a profit they were willing to lease for 1 million baht a month, but of course only a 30 year lease would be available. (this is the year 2000 ) The committee thought they could get the running costs down to around10 million a year, so an annual expenditure of 22 million Baht. If a 1000 people joined the annual fee would be 22,000 baht. After a marketing survey, it was discovered that if they could get 250 members they would be lucky. So now an annual fee of 100,000 baht. Biggest reason given for not interested in joining. “Don't want to be tied to playing one course”. Remember this is the days of the 200 baht caddie fee and 400 baht green fee.

It was never made known publicly how the club would function legally although a lease agreement would perhaps smooth this over

My reason for posting is just to set the record that an attempt was made to establish a private club, even though it was 20 years ago, not a discussion.

    PS

As everyone knows private clubs end up with a couple of people doing all the work. This committee was no different, as within a year the members attending the meetings with the manager went from 12 to 2. But they still bitched and moan about the way the club treated them. Even to this day.

    Interesting read, thanks.

The reason you mentioned may even be more valid these days in the Pattaya region. We got around 25 courses within 1 hour drive, and I enjoy playing different courses. It never gets boring. So why should I stick with one single course, play there once a week, until I know every bush and every springler by heart? Not a good choice.

This suit could be monumental and takes it directly to the Supreme Court.  Texas was able to approach the Supreme Court because Article III grants it status as the 'court of first impression' where it has original jurisdiction, such as when two states are in dispute.

You identify yourself as a real trumpster in the first sentence. Brainwashed all the way down. Over 40 cases with "great evidence" have been thrown out of the courts, and then there comes another case. And this case must be "momumental" or "biblical". And only one or two days later, also this case has gone down the drain. But there is .... the next one, which must be ...
