I have to do my next report on 20th August by online method. I will see if it works.
-
I prepared an analysis of FTT deposits with dates, amounts and monthly amounts, but the IO ignored it totally.
-
The IO did not recommend this because of the problems being experienced with mail handling etc, she recommended online reporting in future.
-
No, she did not ask the source of monies, probably because I am 76 years of age, but I did have original documents available, just in case.
I used to use Transferwise until they sent money via an intermediary bank, which did not show FTT in my bank book, but only local bank transfer. I now use Bangkok bank London office, send gbp and all is shown FTT. This is Foreign Telegraphic transaction.

I went to CW to renew my entry to stay stamp for further 12 months, using the income method. Bangkok bank provided the confirmation letter for me as account holder, and a bank statement dated 17 July for 12 months.
I signed in at 7am and obtained a queue number 69. At 815am, the doors opened and I was given L zone ticket 1 19.
I was seen within 30 minutes by an IO, who did not speak to me at all, but to my wife in Thai. The IO required site and certified copy of my yellow book, also the bank books and copies duly certified, which I had prepared.
The IO then went through every page of the bank statement, identifying and marking all FTT transactions, 3 each month, averaging 110k. The only extra copies required were two bank book first pages, and the last page of current bank book showing the deposit and withdrawal transactions on 21 July. My wife got the pages copied, and I gave the IO 1900 baht fee.
We waited until 1030am, when I signed for my passport, with 12 months stamp.
I also had a 90 day reporting issue, sent by mail on 16 May but no receipt received. For this I had to go to temporary visa centre, arriving at 1pm. A new Tm47 written out and queue number A407 issued. Waited an hour and into see IO who spoke perfect English. The lady looked at my file, saw a copy receipt already there to be printed off. No TM 47 required, and with new receipt clipped into passport, out under 5 minutes.
I was impressed at both locations with the seating/waiting arrangements, excellent for social distancing.
A good experience at both locations.

Thank you Bender for the suggestion. I have wondered about Samut Prakarn being my office, I shall try it when I apply for the next extension.

Thanks Ubonjoe, that's a relief. I am applying for another retirement extension before the 31 July and will address the situation then.

My 90 day report was due on 29th May 2020, I sent the documents by EMS on 190520 and it was received by signature on 20th, at Laksi office. Nothing was received,so I sent a copy of the EMS receipt and signature of receipt to the 90 day report section, together with a Letter requesting a copy of the 90 day Receipt document on the 15th June. That was received at the 90 day Report section on 16th June. Still nothing received, what can I do?
I am 76 year old and reside in Bangna, Bangkok - a long way from Laksi office.

Absolutely agree and I will never use TW again. SWIFT payments are far better and appear as International Payment in the savings book.
-
I sent 1000 pesos to my recipient in Philippines by Sendvalu nearly 36 hours ago, and despite assurances from a UK customer services representative that the money had been released, it has not. Such bad service for such a small amount. Is this normal for Sendvalu?
-
My two transactions arrived today just about 1410 hours, but it is the last time I shall use TW. I prefer SWIFT or Remitly, whose policy is same day transfer for an extra fee. I am waiting to hear from them as to whether their transactions are marked as International Transfers, but Bangkok Bank is one of their partners, so it should be ok.
-
My 2 transfers paid for on 8th July, are expected by 4pm Thai time today. I won't hold my breath! It is the last time I use TW as their Payments section cannot be trusted to follow through with what Customer Service operatives are telling customers, either by message or telephone. Instead, I shall use SWIFT through my HSBC account, or Remitly UK who promise same day or next business day delivery for marginally more expensive fees than TW. Fo the first transfer Remitly fees are free, but on a £800 transfer they charge 456 baht more than TW and a transfer fee of £12.99

Currently, I paid for two transfers on the 8th July, which were tagged after a phone call to the UK office, and now on the 11th July, I am still waiting for the money to be transferred to Bangkok Bank. TW have indicated the money will be transferred by 4pm Thai time today. I won't hold my breath!
This is the last time I shall be using TW, as their Payment Team cannot be relied upon to carry out what their Customer Service people are telling their customers. Instead I shall be using SWIFT transfers through my HSBC UK account, or Remitly in the UK, whose fees are marginally more expensive than TW, but promise Express, same day delivery or next business day delivery. The first transfer is free of fees.
It is clear that TW prefer using intermediary banks other than Bangkok Bank, otherwise no need for a 3 day delay.

I did a SWIFT transfer through HSBC on the 1st July and it was in my Bangkok Bank account on 2nd July and marked as an International transfer. I undertook two further TW transfers on the 8th July, called them in the UK to tag them in favour of Bangkok Bank, with my activity file showing that the money will be in my account after 4pm on the 9th. 4pm came and went and today (10th) after a 9 minute call to the UK, I received an activity entry showing both payments to be made tomorrow evening! I won't hold my breath.
This will be the last time I use TW because their Payments Team cannot be trusted to follow through what their Customer Service operatives tell the customer, both verbally and in messages. Instead, I shall use SWIFT transfers from my HSBC account, or use a UK firm called REMITLY, whose fees are marginally more expensive than TW's for at £800 by 456 baht; but more importantly Express transfers at a cost of £12.99 using a debit card (free first time of use).

Just to update you, a reply from Kasikorn Bank is still awaited, as is the two payments that should have arrived at 2pm on 9th July. After a 9 minute telephone call to TW in the UK today (10th), my activity file has been updated with receipt of payment showing as tomorrow evening. I won't hold my breath!
This will be the last time I use TW because their payments team cannot be trusted to fulfill transfers as told to me by their Customer Service team. Instead, I shall use the HSBC International transfer method from the UK and / or Remitly a similar company to TW in the UK, whose transfers are immediate, if paying by Debit card for a fee of £12.99 (free for the first time of use). Fee comparison between the two is TW is cheaper by 456 baht for an £800 transfer. I shall make a test transfer on 1st August.

My transfer dated 2nd July was forwarded by TW via Kasikorn Bank to Bangkok Bank by way of a local, SMART, transfer. I have today written to Kasikorn Head Office requesting a document, whether Letter or Advice note, confirming the transfer from London was received and then forwarded by them to my Bangkok Bank account.
Today, I made two further transfers using TW, rang them before paying them the cash, and they messaged me saying both transactions had been tagged in favour of Bangkok Bank; also, that for future transfers my profile had been tagged in favour of Bangkok Bank, but that I should still call them before payment, confirming the tag will be applied. Both transfers will be paid tomorrow after 2pm. I will update tomorrow and when I get a reply from Kasikorn Bank

On the 2nd July 2019 I obtained my Extension of stay based on retirement using the Income method at CW. I did not have the Letter listing International transfers but my bank statements supplied to Immigration did identify them, as did my savings passbook. As a condo joint owner, the IO dealing with the Extension required me to submit a TM30 form. I went to that Section (B), paid a 800 baht fine and received the necessary paperwork. Then back to the IO who granted my Extension. However, the IO stressed that in 2020 the Immigration department will strictly enforce the relative rules and regulations. In fact, the IO required me to write a letter in long-hand to 'Dear Immigration, in the year 2020 I will follow all Immigration rules and regulations associated with the 65000 baht income method', and sign it.
The IO stressed that Immigration will show leniency for 2019 Extensions, but that in 2020 the rules and regulations relative to the income method will be strictly applied. Therefore bank passbooks will need International transfers marked accordingly.
-
My extension was undertaken on the basis that I completed a TM30 form (I am a condo joint owner with my Thai wife) and had to supply copy of my chanote. The IO didn't want copies of the yellow book. I paid 800 baht fine and received the paperwork that satisfied the IO who issued my Extension stamp in my passport.

FTT is the code that Bangkok Bank put in the savings account book when an International deposit is made. It is the code that Immigration look for when determining the 65000 baht income method.

The 3 banks TW use as intermediaries are Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank and TMB Bank. I have accounts at BBK and TMB but not Kasikorn - sods law, on 2nd July, TW sent my 50,000 to Kasikorn en route to Bangkok Bank. This is too much like a lottery where the customer has no control. I am therefore going to register with Bangkok Bank's London office and do transfers through them.

Yes, the intermediary bank in Thailand was Kasikorn, they then did a local bank transfer to Bangkok Bank, shown as a SMART transfer in my bkk savings book
-
Hi WGdanson, did the IO accept your TW paperwork because they are allowed to be lenient in 2019, but for me using the same paperwork in 2020 may be more of a problem because my IO told me that they will be extremely strict next year in looking at the evidence of income each month. For July, I am therefore doing SWIFT transfers from my HSBC account to ascertain the charges in Bangkok Bank, as a plan 'B'. Ultimately, for August transfers I am applying for a Bangkok Bank London office transfer arrangement.

Armed with the TW Transfer Confirmation document showing the routing from the UK, via Kasikorn Bank and Bangkok bank into my account, I visited both banks, but neither were able or willing to provide any document in support of the transfer in question. I pressed Kasikorn bank with there reference number, but still they were unwilling to assist.
I have taken up the matter with TW and asked them to mark my account for transfers to be made direct to Bangkok Bank, like someone suggested in this forum. I await a reply.

Re OJAS comment, I provided such an analysis of the dates, amounts and monthly totalsof FTTs, but the IO totally ignored it.
