I purchaseda new HondaCBR300RA almost 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Enough speed and acceleration for this old guy, good handling and great for weaving in and out traffic. Furthest I've been is Pattaya and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. No issues with the bike, only issue was with the lady I ran over who was walking in the middle of a busy, dimly lit street at night. First time I've fallen off my bike in 15 years of riding. As others have said, use 360° vision, remain attentive and expect the unexpected and you'll love it!

I could be wrong, but I am not aware of a curfew being enforced on any other country. If anybody can tell me how they justify, or the reasoning behind it, I would like to know. The only thing I can think of is some kind of power trip for our fearless leaders.

Apparently, Australia has "drive - in testing" and their testing rate is the best in the world. That's why they currently have a lot of cases (more than Thailand last I looked with about 1/5th the population). I think they will be out of trouble long before many other countries

I have recently been an in-patient at a private and government hospital.
About 2 years ago, extremely unwell, my Thai friends took me to Bangkok Christian Hospital. No waiting, onto a stretcher, tests and immediate admission with a lung infection. 6 days in hospital, total bill - 158,000 baht
3 weeks ago I had surgery to remove an aggressive skin tumour on my hand at Chulalonkorn Hospital. 3 hour operation to cut, clean and skin graft. 4 days in 2 person room, all up 25,000 baht.
Yes, there were some negatives at Chula, namely waiting for appointments and Thai language deficiency, but I know where I will be going in the future.

I wouldn't call a GPX 200cc bike a superbike
I call my 300cc my "little big bike". Is that about right?

Op... You handled the situation exactly as it should be handled...
Some people love to make threats in this situation... quite amusing how quick they were to attempt to extort you.
It seems you played the game well... Just let the insurance deal with it and of course, not accepting any fault.
It's now up to your insurance to deal with the Motorcyclist - if they even bother. Of course, you may no longer get a discount on your insurance premium next year as you have made a claim, but thats just the way it is here in Thailand.
It's up to the Police to deal with the illegal motorcyclist riding with no license - of course, they won't bother.
The law is obviously on your side.
Regarding Dash-Cams... reliability is an issue with the cheaper models, but many models require a time to time re-formatting of the memory card (The memory card is SanDisk - Class 10)
I do this about every 6 months or so with mine (when I remember), but I've never had issues extracting a 3min file when checking it.
I use BlackVue and have found them reliable... their new models forwards and rear facing look good.
Slightly Off topic - but of note for the motorcyclists:
I've just ordered the Innovv K2 dash-cam for my motorcycle (forward and rear facing)... just to cover me under similar circumstances... hope I'll never need to.
Could you please tell me where you ordered the motorcycle dash cam from?
Thanks in advance.

Did this about a month ago at DLT Chatuchak, Bangkok. No need to go to police first. Rode my bike to DLT and went to Building 2 (I think). Found someone who speaks English and she filled out the form for me, gave me a number and sent me to get photocopies. Five minutes later number called, disk given at a cost of 20 or 25 baht. Take your passport and Green Book with you.

You better believe it. Coles and Woolworth banned bags 6 months ago but then did a backflip after backlash but are now on board
Still even 15 years for first world is pretty pathetic compared to Thailands early adoption as a developing country
Well done thais!South Australia is usually the State 15-20 years behind the rest so, indeed, that surprises me.
And I agree, congrats Thais!

I wonder how many customers and money they lost ?
I get your point, but hopefully it might teach some of them to look, listen and learn, rather than ignore. I'm sure quite a few were aware of Environment Day but thought they would try their hand. I'm happy they lucked out.
I don't shop at Tops very often, but I will go there more often in the future considering their strong stance with this.

Australia just started their main supermarket chains. How many in Europe doing it?
Thailand is developing and I'm really surprised they have taken the initiative. Good on themPlastic bags in South Australian supermarkets/ department stores were banned more than 15 years ago. Hard to believe the other States are that far behind?

I did some shopping at Tops Central Rama 9 yesterday. Out of a small sample of 4 people being served while I was waiting, all were surprised when told no plastic today, and no plastic bags were available for them. Good job I say! However, I think their alternative cloth bags had all gone so the customers had the option of either leaving their items or carrying them in their arms.
All my items fitted nicely into my back pack ????

Wow! I never make it past the security guard in Big C who instructs me to check my empty backpack into the storage lockers.
How can I fill it with my shopping? Put the goods in plastic and then trek all the way back to the entrance and leave the bags at the help desk, who then throw them away because the average local consumer doesnt want a second hand - used plastic bag. It really defeats the object.
I got to say, TOPS understand, I think they give a small discount if you don’t use any bags.
It is a matter of just using a reusable bag - but there are so many obstructions along the way.
Is that a Big C policy? At Big C Rachadapisek I just walk in with my backpack every time no question. At the checkout I just say "Mai sai tung" and pack it myself.
If anything, perhaps they should check my backpack when leaving the store (standard procedure in Oz), but they never do.
-
Now that I am a proud owner of a motorcycle, I use a backpack to store my Big C purchases. The other week I received a "dee maak" comment from a Thai customer as she walked off with 10 items in 6 plastic bags. Oh, well...

A lot of them I see have been taking their fugly pills. I guess all the pretty, slim, personable ladies are now plying their trade online.
And what's with all the hair preening? Is there a nit problem in Patts?

We have Nov 20 today and it seems the "war" hasn't started on all fronts yet; at least not in my Bangkok neighborhood where two nearby 7-Elevens are still dispensing plastic bags en masse as they always have. CP might want to work on the chain of command a bit so the "war orders" also filter down to the smaller "combat units" deployed in the suburbs.
One positive point of note: Since recently, I don't earn myself a confused look or even suspicious frown from 7-Eleven staff any longer when I refuse accepting a plastic bag with my single-item purchase. Yes, they even listen to me when I turn down the two plastic spoons or half a dozen plastic straws. In the old days they frequently ignored my pleas that I was rich enough to have my own spoon and thus didn't need theirs.
My 7-Eleven staff know that if I can carry the goods, I will, and mostly don't put them into bags, or politely ask me. Sadly, the last time I purchased a 6-pack of 1.5ltr water, the plastic shroud was broken and couldn't be carried. 2 bags for the water and a bag tied across the top to serve as a handle. Devastated I was at first, but was able to "recycle" them as personal rubbish bags.

I'd love to know what the success rate is of those who try this method. I've tried many times and only succeeded in getting my app in once. And that was rejected. 'Report to the office in person'.
The past 2 times I've done it online and worked a breeze (Internet Explorer)
