So ... where are all the Thai bashers now that an eye witness has posted a very well written account of the incident?
Long ago I was a bouncer in a bar in the USA /// in one of its largest cities...
By our standards... this guy got off lucky and is very lucky to not be in intensive care right now.... and then off to prison for assault. That is correct ... in some cases that is possible.
Think about that before you label every event in Thailand as something that only happens here. Booze, drugs, red light districts ... fights, knife fights, gun fights ... it comes with the neighborhood.
You all need to get a grip and understand this is not your personal Disney Sex Land and everyone here works for you. It is like every where in the world ... you F with the Bull ... you get the horns.
I am so tired of this attitude that Thailand was constructed by a European Entertainment company and the "employees" are not behaving well. People whose idea of a holiday is excessive drinking, prostitution and mouthing off and disrespecting people should certainly not feign disbelief when occasionally one of the A Holes gets what is coming to them.
I could take you Jack Offs to clubs in the USA where they would put up with exactly ZERO of your nonsense and leave your teeth on the curb. Point being ... Thais are NICE compared to us ... so get a grip and grow up.
Yep, have seen it in Australia when I was driving taxis. And that was only in little old Adelaide (pop.1 mill. ). Every Saturday night late, bouncers taking delight in beating up drunken/drugged/both patrons.
I vividly remember outside one night club, a huge, muscle-bound bouncer relentlessly kicking a skinny kid who was semi-conscious, lying prostrate on the ground and frothing at the mouth. Not exactly a threat to the club in his state.
Thuggish behaviour by bouncers is certainly not restricted to Thais, or any particular nationality. In this case, judging by the eye-witness account, I believe the bouncers showed incredible patience and restraint.

There is no sense here. A 65 year old get to meet a 24-30 year old beautiful Thai girl. She say I love you and he already is in love with this beautiful lady. Get married and in this process he pay lots of money to her family, build a house etc etc. Then he say oh these Thai girls are only after money.
Well my question is what the hell do you have that she should be interested in?????
What can you give her at the age of 65??? You may not even be able to perform sexually as she need. You will not be or have not interest to go to disco and dance with her. You may not want a child at this age. In couple of years she even may have to clean your ass as you can not walk to the toilet either.
Well if she doesn't come to you for money and the security then she is one of the most stupid person.
Grow up and if you really want to find love in this LOS then find someone in your own age.
Actually, there is a lack of sense in some of your post.
Sure, some guys think with their "little head" and get burned, i agree. But I don't think this is limited to elderly gents. Let me use myself as an example. I am 60 yrs old, certainly not a "hansum man" with the many telltale lines, ditches and troughs on my face. I'm not into plastic surgery, so I accept I'm stuck with that. However, I go to gym 3 or 4 times a week, swimming twice a week and am extremely fit and healthy. I eat healthy, but have an addiction to Thai bakery cakes and pastries. I enjoy going to discos and can dance with the best of them.
So, as to what could I give a 24-30 yr old. Firstly, I can perform well sexually and never had any complaints. Secondly, I can provide financial and emotional security for her for life, without adversely affecting my bank balance. Thirdly, we would be able to travel regularly, and be close companions and communicate well, since I have learned to speak Thai.
Yes, i have had younger girlfriends and enjoyed their company, as they have enjoyed mine. I don't see age difference as a barrier to a successful relationship. There are much more serious barriers such as mistrust, cultural differences, personality, etc. to consider. Right now, I am happy to be single and do what I want to do, when I want to do it. This may change in the future and, if I find a lovely, petite, gorgeous 25 yr old, please forgive me

Whenever a taxi driver doesn't want to bring a customer to a certain destination he can use the excuse that the destination is too far and that he has to return the car on time to the driver of the next shift. So what can any government department do in this case? NOTHING!.... because it could be TRUE!
Yes, it could be true. What they should do is ban any taxi who is unable/unwilling to accept a passenger from parking at the taxi ranks.
I accept and understand being rejected for the above reasons when flagging down a taxi, but not when they are parked at ranks. At a rank means "available", with no reasons/excuses.

In my early days here I wai'd a young female student. The look of embarrassment on her face was alarming to me. Fortunately, a Thai friend who was with me at the time explained how to wai. Now, if I receive a wai from ANYONE I reply with a wai, whether security guard, street sweeper or bargirl.
And if I consider someone senior or in a high-status position (e.g. Immigration Officer) I will wai them first. And no, I do not wai a farang. Seeing farangs in bars waiing waitresses and bargirls first makes me cringe. Understand the custom, or doing nothing is better.

I am very happy in Thailand most of the time and, although a relative "newbie" of 4 years, I love life here.
Whenever I'm feeling a little down, i think about the s**thole country I came from and that brings a huge smile to my face and I'm happy again.

I can tolerate grammar errors from some posters, and I am not "the grammar police", but this small article cannot seriously come from a journalist, albeit an online periodical. Surely a six year old child found the article and posted it here.
If anybody from the Samui Times is reading TV, I am available for proof-reading/editing (for a small fee).
Need to take a Panadol now, still can't make any sense of the post!

I am a NES.
I don't have a broad accent.
I have an excellent understanding of the English language (psychological testing - 97%).
I have created and delivered countless training courses to various sized groups during my 30 years in management.
I love to help people develop and better themselves.
I don't drink or do drugs.
I have an Associate Diploma in Marketing.
I intend to live in Thailand indefinitely.
I DON'T HAVE A DEGREE.
Disregarding the above point, why am I not allowed to teach English?

Yes we do.
What's that old expression?
If Melbourne is the bowels of Australia then Tasmania must be the result.
No "if" required there

Don't blame him, Pattaya must be a very depressing pace to live in, one day is enough for me.
You must be a very weak person.
Pattaya is brilliant.

For heaven's sake, please get the executions over with so I don't have to read any more of this, and Australia can stop embarrassing itself (for a short time at least) with it's meddling in international affairs.
I am vehemently against drugs, but I don't agree with the death penalty for drug offences. For life-taking, rape, other serious offences which can be proven with NO doubt, hang 'em high, eye for an eye. But really Australia, tiny little Australia, insignificant Australia....you dobbed them in, you and they knew the consequences of being caught. Deal done.

I get 100 minutes free local (Thai) calls with my internet package. So, with the few calls I make, cost = 0 baht/second. Suits me!

While I am still getting what I consider to be generally good service from the standard taxis, I won't be using ATT. I would prefer to give my money to an honest, hard-working individual (and yes, I think the majority are), than help fill the coffers of a big corporation.

Thanks again. I think I'll go to CW to do both. I have never done it at the airport before so I'm wary of the time factor.
Cheers!

No problem, thanks for that. Cheers!
Does Lad Prao office do re-entry permits as well as 90 day reports?
-
I don't want to hijack this post, but my 90 day report is due on 6/3 and I am travelling to Australia on 9/3. Considering the 7 days after allowance, do I still need to do the 90 day report?

For British passport you can download the forms online and mail to the Embassy along with your proof of pension, rental income etc. Allow 7-10 days for return mail with official letter for Immigration.

The staff at the Consulate in PP are most unpleasant. Applied for a visa there myself once, never again! I use an agent when I go there now (Cina Travel, if I remember correctly). Give them my passport and documents 9:00am, pick up about 5:00pm the next day. $US15 for the service (you need to pay for the visa, naturally). A great, friendly, safe, speedy service.

Ok....now how about the important question.
Who won?

Last week outside Fortune Town I saw the police load 3 bikes, illegally parked on the footpath, onto tuk-tuks and they drove away.
Up until this post, I was thinking "Great to see the BIB doing their jobs." Now I wonder what happened to the bikes!
