  2. they have killed a half decent drink over the past few years....5% was always on the cards....i remember a friend buying me chang in the uk in 2006...i opened it with glee....only to almost spit it out ...it was a terrible 5% the taste was nothing like the 6.4% i was use to in Thailand...yes its dropped from 6.4 to 6% then 5.5% then down to 5.2% and finally a 5%..what a shame...Thais never bought chang 10 years ago no they are all drinking it...its a sad time for my taste buds...

There is no dependency visa. It is either a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon being married to or being the parent of a Thai.

If you were already on an extension of stay based upon marriage you would not be able to  change the reason of being a parent until until you got divorced. After getting divorced you would show the divorce decree to have you current to extension so you could apply for a new one.

If you had a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage it would remain valid until it expires if you got divorced.

Thanks UJ.....I will pass on this info to my friend...

The honorary consulates cannot issue a multiple entry non-o visa now. The embassy in London still issues them with no financial proof being needed.

The consulate in Savannakhet does issue them without financial proof being needed. A few reports of the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City issuing them as well.

UJ...do you need to be divorced from your wife to apply for a dependancy visa for your kids or can you change from a marriage extension to a dependancy for your kids whilst still married...whilst waiting for divorce coming soon ?

You need to report to the immigration office where you are living. Moving around would require proof of residence every time you changed addresses.

It would be best to establish a permanent address somewhere so that you could do the reports online or by mail when not there.

Ubonjoe....do you have to report to the immigration office where you got your extension from ?

  6. why not apply for a visa to live with you in england....if you are husband and wife  dont be applying for 6 months visas.....my Thia partner was also turned down twice trying for 6 mths visas...we we got married we applied again for stelement visa and it was 3rd time lucky.....good luck...nothing is easy these days mind you saying that my wifes first refusal was back in 2004...

this low rate could be a peak........i remember 10 years back i was going to exchange a few quid...the rate was 72.5...i popped to the bank and the rate had fallen to 72...i thought sod that...i will wait for 72.5......it never happened .......

    • He shouldn't have a problem getting a 60 day extension, and he can still apply for a 1 year extension towards the end of the 60 days.
    • In the unlikely event that they deny a 60 day extension he will be given 7 days to leave the country.

my friend went friday so he was 3 days overdue...he went late so they told him to comeback monday with his documents in full....he went monday....was hit with a 6 day overstay...a stamp in his passport regarding his overstay...his paperwork is under consideration now for a month...so hopefully all will end in smiles....

If he has all the supporting documents and financial proof to apply for the extension the would probably do the one year extension after he paid the overstay fine.

It would be best if he went today.

If  is not ready to apply for the one year extension he could take his wife with him and apply for a 60 day extension to visit her.

Ubonjoe....my friend went to immigration on friday which meant he had a 3 day overstay...he presented his doucuments etc....they told him to go back on monday as it was almost closing time...he went monday yesterday....he had his passport stamped with an overstay...he paid 6 days overstay fine...and his documents are now under consideration for one month.......

What visa did you ask for?

I hope this is of help to you.

Almost 4 years ago I married a Thai, I am a Brit but had retired to Spain and had a NIE (Foreigners ID Number).

You can probably do this on line.

The visa she will need is the EEA Family Member, not a Schengen.

To grant a 90 day EEA Family Member visa for my wife, the Spanish Embassy required that she had acceptable :

Police Clearance Certificate (from the DSI in BKK)

A health clearance certificate (best got from the Police Hospital next to the DSI in BKK - they know the correct and required wording)

Copies of your marriage cert translated to Spanish and approved by the MoFA. Only the Cert is necessary so very simple. Expect to pay the standard 800Bt/page if you use the Spanish University in BKK.

Then, the MoFA Madrid, required that our translated marriage cert was validated by a Law firm that they specified in BKK, the fee was 1,600Bt

Of course the usual copies of your PP etc.

Getting the visa was not hard for us, the time was spent getting the clearances. etc.

Once landed in Spain you must both go and register at the town hall and then apply online to your local foreign office and make an appointment to start the procedure to get her a Foreigners ID and finally the permanent resident ID Card.

Once you start the procedure, the Spanish Emb in BKK advised us, you must complete it however long it takes and don't worry that you exceed the 90 days.

It took us about 5 months which was fast compared to others that I know.

Once this is done, your wife will need to reside in Spain for a little over 6 months min/year to maintain centre of life and residents status.

My wife was not required to learn Spanish.

Also, she jointly owns property with me in Spain, we bought a condo together this year.

Because I'm retired and had also had an English translation of the marriage cert and supporting docs,

I sent a certified copy to the overseas pensions office in the UK and they reissued my form S1 (transferring medical resources to Spain)

    and they included my wife.

She is therefore registered with the Spanish NHS.

I had done the S! as soon as I started drawing the state pension and at that time my partner was a Brit woman, below pension age, and they included her details so she got NHS cover via me!

    Cheers

thanks for your message.....it was my friend who applied for his wife to have a 2 week holiday in spain.....they gave up  with all the requirements that spain wanted....they presented the same info to the swedish office and they used a swedish friends address etc....they were succesful with the info they supplied and after flying and spending one night in sweden they left next day and flew to Malaga....where they are now...

I have read several similar posts from other posters in other threads, and guess what, it always concerns post from UK.

Last time I checked there were 195 countries in the world, and 99% of the posts claiming the same as you, is about items posted from the UK

You still think the issue is with Thailand post?

Tell you something else, I know quite a few Brit holiday makers in Pattaya, and the stories they tell me about how they know someone who intercepts credit cards and other valuable items in the UK postal system are amazing.

thank you Anthony5....there are crooks and cheats every where......and i know myself friends who have not received credit cards in the UK and it was the local post man who stole the cards...he was sacked and sent to Jail......only this week the Thai post office were warning thais not to order on line as many parcels are going missing....they also said if you order on line only pay C O D...dont pay up front...very little INTEGRITY in Thailand...

Your friends have very poor job search skills. Any NES speaker with a Bachelor's degree can make 33 to 35k without even trying hard...this is standard agency pay in BKK.

Tonray.....my friend with the master degree was working in Bangkok but he lost his house to the floods...so he moved to his wifes village up in the deepest jungle where he has built a lovely dry new house...started teaching in a MEP School and he teaches on line with students at the weekends earning him more money...hes on around 44000 a month in the jungle and hes happy and only does 4 days a week at school....and none of my friends work via an agency...

  18. 90% of my mail from the UK from my friends has been opened......sometime i just get the enverlope delivered to my house and no letter...and 90% of my mail arrives with blue tape holding the enverlope together......i have complained many times to my local post office...now they take a photo of all my mail that arrives to them from the thai sorting office.....in England i sent by post gifts to my step son for birthdays etc....one once did his gifts arrive.......even my thai wife would write in thai please dont open the package....but still happened........its a nightmare......a friend sent me a letter 4 weeks ago and guess what....no sign of it........i even told the thai post office that nobody would send money to me via post .....they seem to think its a joke........
