They are not the same kind of Quail. The Quail that we keep do not have babys, they are bred to lay eggs all year round to sit on eggs would be a fault and they also fly very well. As they migrate in there wild form so your stock could end up back in Japan.
If you wanted something that hangs around all day, eat insects and that never leaves start giving bottles of chang to the Thai locals out of the village. LOL
LOL, probably true...
The Quail that lived around my house did not migrate though, but they most likely laid very few eggs in comparison, so not really useful for farming (also they were impossible to catch, even if they rarely flew)

What kind of worms would you recommend for chickens to snack on?
I have a lot of big night crawlers, not sure what kind, but they are fast, and the chickens don't like the taste of them for some reason.
I have no idea what chickens like to eat, we breed worms not chickens
LOL, what kind of worms do you like to eat then?

I started Farning quail long before I came to Thailand, I used them for research on my thesis paper for my Genetics Degree, when I was just a pup. We (Me, the wife and her Family ) have been Quail farming for about 5-6 years. I have only just returned to farming full time for the past 8 months as I was working full time in Scuba -Diving in Thailand for the past 7 years but sold up and returned to the north for a Part time job back in Genetics
Bird flu no hence the foot note on sparrows
I used to have some wild California Quail living around the yard when I was a kid. Really fun to watch, and every year they would have a couple batches of little baby quail trailing behind the mother. They lived in a big bush right outside our door, no one ever fed them, they just found their own food.
If I had enough land I would love to get some Quail to free range.... (collecting the eggs would probably not be possible, but they do eat a lot of bugs )

SD: I presume you mean what size box, not what size wormery!! For 1kg worms we use a small polystyrene picnic box from Macro, size 24 x 18 x 18 cm. This will easily take 1kg worms plus 1kg bedding/food and would be OK for several days in the EMS post. We have also sent like this by bus. For larger quantities then larger boxes or other arrangements. Cheers WF

search for 18°44'3.48"N 99° 6'45.47"E in google maps. They sell bagged cow poo right there. San Kamphaeng. Seen trucks down from Chiang Rai loading up.
Well, like I said, I'm in Chiang Mai, and I don't have a truck.....also my foot is still broken, and it will be a few more weeks before I finish recovering.
I need it delivered.
I could order more than 100 bags if needed. I want to have it ready for vegetable season, and my peppers are starving in poor sandy soil.
Thanks
Can't you get someone to run you out there to see if you can arrange delivery. While you're out there you should be able to arrange to have some straw bales delivered. The rice harvest is finished, bales everywhere.
Well, it does not look to far from here but it would make things easier if I had someone's phone number.... ?
Otherwise I'll just have to wait until I'm recovered a bit more, I still have to use crutches, so shoveling manure, or hopping around in the muck looking for the owner, is out the question.
I'd like to get it composting now, so in a few more weeks after I start recovering, I'll have something to use.
I tried getting some 6 months ago, and everyone said they did not have it since it was raining too much.
How long do you think the straw will be available? (CM4Me, Why on Earth would they burn the straw?... although this is Thailand I would not put it past them).
Hello All, here in Korat at most roadside plant shops,
we get the bags in the pic. for Bt.10.
rice555
That would be fantastic if it was so cheap here!
But with rising shipping cost, it would not be possible to send it here. Not sure why it cost so much in Chiang Mai, there are lots of cows and horses here. Maybe they have contracts will flower shops or something?.....Or our cow sh** is better than your cow sh** LOL...

I am looking for 100 bags of Cow manure or similar for my vegetable garden. Willing to pay 20Baht per bag at this quantity. Should be in/near Chiang mai. I can pay a delivery fee if needed.
Please reply if you have some, or know where I can get it. ( I don't have a truck, and was recently in an motor bike accident, my foot is still broken, so pickup is not possible).
Also looking for some straw, or other mulching material for my chicken coop and general mulching purposes. (I've been using coconut husk, and husk peat/compost but it is usually wet and a bit pricy).
Thanks,
Mo
