Thanks boosta, that was a great reply. We, however, are not living together. She would never go for that.
At present, we are still a couple. She is trying to get me to change schools. She says there are Thai schools of good quality, and that it isn't necessary to work at an international school in order to have a stable work environment. I am considering this option. As you say, she is still the woman I've cared about to this point. Nevertheless, with ASEAN around the corner, and Thailand growing leaps and bounds, an M.Ed would create much needed stability for me, before deciding to start a family here.

I think you'll find that most schools in Thailand, whatever type, follow the same education system.
As for your original question: I guess it can be many things, but it is probably just that she likes you and doesn't want you to leave her.
Indeed, I have realized the Thai education system isn't a good fit -- what I've experienced of it. She said there are better options. I am considering seeking them before leaving. Admittedly, I am indecisive, hence my OP. If I really knew up from down right now, I wouldn't need to talk it out here. I'm in Central Thailand, all my buddies are either in BKK or CM, so Thai Visa it is.
Just marry the girl,a buddist wedding will do (no paper work ) buy her a house and give family 3 mil baht. Then she wont give a rats if you stay or leave

I was out with some friends one night,they all drank Leo I was on Chang.
The sweet Chang girls kept my glass full and the bottles coming.

think we paid about 3500B well worth the money

Oh my God, is this really true? You did go to the immigration with a handwritten piece of paper with a embassy stamp and signed by them??? I have never heard about anything even similar strange as that. I do not know if I shall cry or laugh really!
The immigration want a letter where your embassy confirm your income not your signature..... The rest of the world do this and show this respect to Thailand and the immigration officies here. We have a country already who do not show this respect.... Forget about their customs and do it the correct way... Proove to your embassy what your earnings really in life are. And they will give you a incomeletter proving that... and they will confirm that on their embassy-letter and the Immigration will be happy.
But I 100% understand that they laughed at you, I would too actually....I suggest you take this more seriously....

A few years back during the Asean conference in Hua Hin, I went north for a few days.
On my way home I was stopped near Bangkok and asked for my licence, after showing a Thai drivers licence the BIB asked my wife why I not have International Thai licence.
He only wanted 10,000 baht so I just said F- - - O- - and drove away
My friend behind me copped a 1000 baht fine that he paid.
Our offence we are farang.
We just love this country its soooo entertaining
