Just wondering if anyone cares or is interested to know that the Stickman's Column is back and has been for a couple of weeks now. Do you think it will ever get back to the popularity it once had, or have times changed and it's lost a lot of its appeal. I wouldn't say I was ever a big fan but I have to admit of at least checking out the morsels of interest pretty much on a weekly basis back when it was going good. When he was trying to do it from abroad, for me personally, it was not as interesting. I am not sure if that is the intent now but It is back on the internet.

My dentist is Dr. Pokpong Amornvit, who is located at THE S Clinic, Soi Suanplu 8, off of Sathorn Road phone 02-287-4922. Very reasonable priced in a pleasant and clean atmosphere. Very good English including the receptionist with parking just a few steps from the clinic entrance if needed. I have been going there for six years and had great results every time.
I had a zirconia crown done at The S Clinic for 14,000 baht total, that was a while back and could be slightly higher now depending on the work involved in your particular situation. I was very satisfied with the whole procedure. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with Dr. Pokpong's work, he is a perfectionist.

Have you found the pens themselves sold anywhere here in TH?
No, I have not but I haven't really looked either. I will see if I can find them in my daily travels around the city. If I do I will let you know.

Since I picked up a Pilot brand Dr. Grip retractable medium point during my working days, they are the only pens I have used since. I brought a few with me when I moved here and still use them. It uses the Pilot refill #77227 that I pick up when I vacation once a year back in the states.

You might check out a stationary and art supply store called "Somjai", it has other locations in Bangkok but I was at the store in Chamchuri Square. I was actually at the Moshi Moshi Japan store and saw it and decided just to do a walk through and I was pretty impressed with their selection. It is on the 3rd floor next to the Moshi Store. I wasn't there checking out their ballpoint pens but did notice they had a large selection. Like you I brought pens with me that I liked when I moved here and since then, I grab a few refills when I go back to the states.

Sorry, I now realize they refer to the American Services section of the US Embassy Bangkok, as the "consular section". I was mixing it up with the word consulate which I knew was in Chiang Mai. Thanks KhunBENQ and ubonjoe for your comments, I now understand. And the meeting for the wardens is probably correct and the reason for it.

Hello everyone, I personally live in Bangkok but I saw on the US Embassy Facebook feed that the US Consular was to be closed on September 3rd (Labor Day in US...OK) and also on September the 26th ???. I was just wondering if anyone knows why they would be closed on the 26th? It is not a Thai or US holiday that I know of. Just curious is all. I posted it here thinking maybe it is something Chiang Mai specific. Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

Thanks TallGuyJohninBKK for your detailed report, and also Pib. I had recently heard about them asking for a Map to Your Home and like you I have always taken a nice one I had printed off of Google Maps. Like you also I have never been asked for it in the past. The person that I heard the new require from prior to you and Pib's confirmation said they would not accept a Google Map Copy printout and they were made to make their on by hand. So since I heard that, I took the time to make a nice hand drawn map in preparation of getting my extension based on retirement in two weeks. Did they accept a internet printed map from you? Just wondering, I will take both with me, but just curious. Thanks.

You need to contact your Embassy here in Bangkok. http://bangkok.emb.mfa.gov.tr/Mission

It would probably be a good idea to also take your last Receipt of Notification from your last 90 Day Report. At least they want to see that at Changwattana Immigration office in Bangkok when applying for a Residence Certificate. I am not sure if it is needed at the Surat Thani Office or not.

The Thai consulate in Penang recently started a policy where they will not issue a tourist visa to people who have an overstay stamp in their passport. There is no telling when/if other consulates will start following this policy.
The best advice to anyone is do not overstay, it can and may someday come back to bite you.

Closed the Friday 27th for Asanha Bucha and Saturday 28th for Buddhist Lent. Although the 28th also happens to be the birthday of the recently crowned King Vajiralongkorn - Rama X, that is not the reason for the bar closures that day.

It might depend on where you are from, maybe people could give you better suggestions.

I buy stevia in the plant form in Chinatown, it is great. I pay 50 baht for 100 grams. I also buy bulk jiaogulan herb (tea). I then use one tea ball of each and let them seep in a small metal container in water just boiled. I then make the a full liter of best ice tea you could imagine. I drink it like crazy. I can't tell you the name of the herb and Chinese medicine shop I buy it from but it is on Chakkrauat Rd just across from a temple. It is well known though if you can show someone in the area the Thai word for stevia ( หญ้าหวาน ), they will know and direct you there. I buy a couple of bags of it every time I go over in that area and would never buy the powder stuff again. Good luck.

I purchased a bedside table from this company (Chamni Furniture) and was very pleased with the price considering the quality of it. They have a facebook page and here is the link to it. https://www.facebook.com/pg/inderoom.fur/posts/

A mail drop is one thing but potentially a driving license could be a problem. At least in my home state you have to be a resident to have one technically. And it could be tied to them saying if you have a driving license and claim you are a resident, why are you not paying state or local income taxes. Another is Obama care and also jury duty. Just a few things to think about, thinking out loud. I believe it was stated earlier that the OP is from a state that does not have state taxes, but for other thread readers it could come into play. With the present health care set up in the US, if you live in a foreign country you have to state how many months a year you live abroad and can be penalized for the months you don't, if you do not have a US policy of some sort.

One question TallGuy, ... ok, I have used my smaller bank in the US in the past few years on more than one occasion, to make a larger transfer of funds to my account here using the NYC branch of Bangkok Bank. My question is... Does that mean that my small bank would have an existing ACH link with Bangkok Bank, and that I am still able at this time to do transfers for the time being? Sorry but I wasn't sure if that is what you meant in your previous referrals to existing ACH links. Thanks in advance.

There is another thread dealing with your subject matter. The moderator ubonjoe has the same situation as you mention about a re-entry to get into the system. check out this his tread on this page and then look through others. or copy your post to that particular thread.

I picked up a basket of 14 limes for 10 baht yesterday at Klong Toey wet market. Cucumbers are also dirt cheap, I bought 6 nice ones for 10 baht, that's 1.66 baht each, not bad.

arrival/departure card, plus TM7 should be 2 sided with all paperwork pages with your signature. At Chaeng Wattana they have never asked me for proof of residence but they can, I always take my rental agreement and a copy of two or three utility bills plus a Google map printout showing my building location.

If you have a prescription you can get them here. I get mine there and have always been fully satisfied and also save a bunch of money.
