I was on retirement visa but the IMM.advised me to change it to marriage visa because it can then lead to residency after three years (residency is basicaly worthless also but there may be changes in future).

Hi Mate-I went to Angeles two years ago-(big mistake-came back early)but more to the point-Angeles is far from manila-I did it by bus but it was a two hour hassle to find the right bus and over two hours dreadful ride on a horrid old and packed out bus -----SO BETTER TO FLY DIRECTLY TO CLARK AIRPORT if you can.Manilla has nothing to offer and is a scary place compared to BKK or Thailand in general.I would never go back to Phillipines. Angeles is better but nothing much there,anyway that is all up to you.

PM Prayut seems to be getting some good work done as far as rooting out corruption(not replacing it as my THai wife says) which to me is much more welcome than the foolish situation of the so called democratic forces that stalled all economic activity in BKK for six months.Now if he would sort out the immigration Dept.and introduce some internationally compatible standards I would support him unequivocally(eg,a proper permanent resident status which falls in line with international standards,no work permit necessary and land ownership rights etc.)

The best Beer I have ever tasted was in Bali,that was BINTANG BEER and I would love to see it at the markets here in Thailand.

I still cannot believe anyone could be that insensitive or senseless -even villagers -especially SC Buddhists who against the pure Buddhist tradition kill thousands of animals everyday for stuffing their faces but they make a show about one mangy dog or a couple of mossies.They are simply trying their luck, looking for handouts from the Farangs as usual.Better to eat their dogs-there are so many.

The most twisted part of Lord Buddhas teachings is the eating of flesh by MONKs-IN THE TEMPLE.Ahimsa does not include flesh eating even if some other tool killed the beast.Flesh is food for the violent animals and has no place in any spiritual order what to speak of Buddhism-until they get that point right the temples will see the decline in the morality and the character of the monks,there is no question of that,what to speak of the youth who are becoming more violent as they eat more and more flesh following the example of the THai Buddhist clergy.

Some of these chaps riding these highly powered bikes take huge chances and drive crazily and too fast-as do the young Thais who can afford these bikes-so obviously we will get these unfortunate and terrible accidents.

Basically have a little patience-it is like the BC weather-if you dont like it wait 10 minutes and it will change-similarly the currency fluctuation.
