    Khor khun krub...

  2. What EVER you do, DON'T stay at the Nana City Inn hotel, about 300 yards down on the left of soi 4 - directly opposite the original Hillary Bar.

I had the unfortunate experience recently of staying there just before their annual (maybe biennial or triennial) room spraying to kill all the cockroaches. I felt like telling them that they needed to do it every Monday and Thursday. But I'm much too polite.

The rooms are carpeted in dark red, with a small pattern that does not help spot what ever it was that you're sure you saw move out of the corner of your eye... :o . I wore my shoes in the room all the time - jumping from the bathroom mat to my shoes after a shower, always trying not to stand on the unknown mess that they called a carpet.

And to top it off, the adjoining "restaurant" (Big Bull?) was a rip off. For the first two days the breakfast of two fried eggs, two or three strips of bacon, tomato, two slices of toast, jam and tea was 105 baht. Not bad and comparable with the other places down the road.

After two days the price went up to 120 baht. Why?, I asked. "Oh the eggs are now 80 baht, not 65". And there was me thinking you could get a dozen for less.

So after two days at 120 baht, it went up to 130. Why?, I asked. "Didn't you look at the menu?" was the bitchy reply. Apparently the tea went up 10 baht on order of "the boss". That was the last time I ate there.

Oh... That's really a bad experience you had over there....

Thanks for sharing this to everyone of us.... :D

Will take note of what you had said...

    Khor khun mak krub...

    Sawadee krub...

  3. Oh... Thanks for the tips there... :D

Umm... Looks like 10 mins is rather far ... :o

For the price wise is rather cheap, got it for about 800 baht...

Is their tuk-tuk free for 24 hours...?

If not, I think I have to think of another hotel... Any other hotel to recommend similiar to this hotel...?

When the other msg said a "long ways off" I was figuring a half hour maybe!

A ten minute walk is a piece of cake!

Business Inn Hotel is okay for a cheap place. Don't open the windows and look in the alley, looks like a toilet. Good enough for the cheap price! I have used the travel agency for buying plane tickets several times - they always came through for me - no problems at all!

Just down from the Business Inn is the "slightly more expensive/better Bangkok Inn. And still on the same soi (11) is the President Inn. The President Inn is not too much different than the Business Inn, compare the two places and pick the one you like best.

    Hi karazyal,

What are the ways of booking a room at President Inn? Do you have the e-mail and contact number?

    Thanks...

    Cheers

  4. Oh... Thanks for the tip, andyfletch and lomatopo.. :o:D

That's very helpful of you two...

Looks like Business Inn is a better deal...

Really look forward for my trip to BKK in a month's time... :D

    Thailand here I come....

It's a nice place for the price. Just don't expect too much, size-wise, for the lowest priced rooms. We checked into one, but then "upgraded" to the next bigger room for more space and a few more baht.

Noted... Will try to see the standard room first before making any decision...

    Thank you for your advice..

By the way, have you heard before this hotel AW Business Inn in Soi 11...?

I know it is a very budget hotel... Not sure of the location to BTS...

    Cheers

    Alvin

If its the same place as the Grand Business Inn, then you would have about a 1 minute walk to Nana BTS. The hotel is about 200 metres down Soi 11 on the right hand side.

A couple of my friends have stayed there, and they reckon its alright.

  7. A motorbike taxi from the Woraburi to the Nana BTS station is b10, it is a 10 min. walk, up soi 4, then right onto soi 6 (which then turns left and intersects Sukhumvit at the entrance to the station). I think the tuk-tuk is available from the hotel 24 hours, not sure how you catch it if returning?

Never had to use motor-cy...we used the tuk tuk for all trips to and from the hotel.... if returning, call the hotel at 02-656-7029 or 02-656-7236 when you near the Sukhumwit Road entrance and they'll come and pick you up.

Krub... Khor Khun mak mak krub... :D

From what sriracha john say, I can book this hotel with peace...

Thank you again guys for all the kindest information about this hotel... :o

  11. Sawadee krub,

Is there someone kind enough to check for me the contact numbers for the two hotels? I had asked my friend from Thailand to check for me but invalid. I had the name and address listed below:

Address: 1091/209, Petchburi 33 Road, Rajthevee, Bangkok 10400

    2) m in Bangkok

Address: 888/65 Mahatun Plaza, Ploenchit Road, Bangkok 10330

Umm... By the way, do you guys have any recommendation for hotels around US$15-20 at around Pratunum area? Motels will do also...

  12. yea, whenI click it with my mouse, it's still very small and hard to see, (I have great vision). I don't know why I can't see it... but I'd love to try it

1.Click the attached file to download it.

2.After the file has been downloaded, the intial picture will be small. But move your mouse to the picture, there is an icon to click to enlarge. Click it and the picture will be enlarge.

    Another method

Or from step 2 after the file has been downloaded, right click the picture and save it to your hard disk. Then open the picture with another program which you can enlarge it.

    Kao Jai Mai Krub?

    Any problem can PM me.

  13. I was wondering if anyone can give me a recipe for Chicken rice. I believe that the Thai chicken rice is similar to the famous Chicken Rice that I ate nearly everyday while in Singapore. It is served chopped up into big pieces, and has a gingery flavor. It also has a side of veggies and a side of chicken soup.

I would really love to know how to make this... it's by far the best thing I've ever had, and I'd love to have it at home, any comments will be very appreciated!

This recipe is from the famous Mandarian Hotel from Singapore which cost S$20 a plate!!!!

I try it there and it taste great.

    Hope it helps you.

  14. I am taking a TG to SNG for 3 nights and would be very grateful for any advice on the following:-

    1.Marriott/Shangrila

    2.Upmarket restaurants

    3.Bars

    4.Thai restaurants

5.Daytime activity that a TG would enjoy other than eating or sleeping

    Thanks a lot

Hotel: Marriott will be a better choice. Good Beds and Service. Price wise will be steeper.

There are lots of things to eat at Singapore. If you want something good, restaurants is not a good choice. Hawker Centres in Chinatown, Geylang(red light district there also), Novean etc.. serve delicious and cheap food.

Lots of bars and discos can be found in Mohama Sultan Road(very happening place there). Boat quay and Clarke quay are kind of quiet now.

Sentosa, Zoo(there is night safari also, check it out) at Mandai, Bird Park at Jurong should be in the list for tourist.

Shopping wise you can go to Bugis, Chaintown, Orchard Road, Train station City Hall(Big shopping centre named Suntec Centre and Marina Centre, around 15mins walk from train station).

I think that is enough for you to last you for three days in Singapore.

    Any problem can PM me.

Note: Take a train down to a hotel will be more adviseable. Expensive to take a cab.

    Have fun.

    Sa Wa Dee Krub.

  15. 1) Mooban Auepradha

It's pronounced as  หมู่บ้านเอื้อประดา  which I don't think it 's correct (because there is no this Mooban in this area). It should be หมู่บ้านเอื้อประชา (Mooban Euapracha)

    2) Nuanjan Road    ถนนนวลจันทร์

    5) Klongkum  คลองกุ่ม

    4) Bungkum  บึงกุ่ม

Khorb Khun Maek Maek Dee Krub......

Ya the address is all right. Check liao.

  16. Will add that currently have Bangkok Guide "Thailand Road Atlas" which is priced at 200 baht and for 1:650,000 scale it is a very detailed map so perhaps there cd versions 'at much larger scale' might be worthwhile if you can find them.

    Website

Khorb Khun Krub. Still need to google search the sites. If there is one good site, I will let you guys know. Thanks for the info. :o

  18. Hello Duck

I think you should look at the classifieds in the Singaproe papers, my firend is workig here as an Assistant Manager, salary abt $3k and 50K baht allowance, however this is a job posting from Singapore to Thailand.

It will not be easy to get job from the classified here ,as there are alot of oversea postings in the classifieds in Singapore.

Most Singapoeans workign here are either their own buiz or factory managers for Singapore companies

Krub. I got a few replies from companies from Thailand recently which made my wife quite surprised.

Anyway, got to rush there next week for an interview . Quite lucky. Hehehe... :D

Will post the review of the interview next week.

  19. Well yeah its better to find work somewhere else....Anyway Duck most singaporean that leaves in Thailand are businessman they set up a company here and do trading... So for you as an asian singaporean will find it very hard to find work there is alot of Locals that are capable more than you...

So the chances that i will rate for you to find work here is 10% out of 100%

    Good Luck

    Tytus

I think if I can't really find job there, I will have to set up a business with my wife which we have a few plan ahead.

    Thanks tytus for the advise.

    Cheers. :o

  20. Duck, being Singaporean myself and living in Thailand I would seriously advise you to have your career somewhere else. It would be more fruitful for you long term wise.

I do not know what your personal problems are that she cannot go to Singapore.....probably you have a gf/fiancee or a "wife" already.

My suggestion, either you stay in Sg, sort your problems out and then move her over or go to another neighbouring country instead. (i.e. Malaysia?).

There is no specific salary range for an engineer in Thailand, it all depends on the company, your qualifications and work experience. There is a min for work permit, that is about all.

Thanks JoJo, if most of you guys say this, I think I will have to consider working there. But will first try to send resume to several companies to see how the reaction is.

Thanks to all guys who have spending their precious time on advising me on my situation. :D

Khorb Khun Maek Maek Krub :o
