  1. Lost the plot or not the damage has been done. Reading some of the posts so far how can anyone condone the killing of women and children and say that he should get a medal for it, is pure ignorance and stupidity. To date 77 ISAF members have been killed by their Afgan counterparts, how many more will be killed in the coming days over revenge killings for this massacre? Hand him over to the Afgan authorities to prosecute.

  2. if you do nothing illegal, do you have to fear if somebody follows your moves ?

First there is a thing called "privacy". Even a non-criminal can appreciate such a thing. It has nothing to do with fear.

Second, if and when they change what is "illegal" after installing these eyes in the sky, than yes, maybe you could fear being seen doing what wasn't illegal previously. But did you become a criminal, or did they make you one...?

  3. instead of jailing him for a few days and fining him, it will be better to chop off his hand. As for drug trafficker, chopping off the hands look better.

Chop off their hands and make them a greater burden on society. I'm all for the death penalty why burden society with the upkeep and welfare of murderers, drug traffickers/dealers and a few more antisocial types I can think of.

  4. Good luck to the mothers of the young men who died needlessly, I don't think it will change much here though, how else are "tourists" going to get around other than by a speeding bus...

Took a ride out yesterday on my bike (route 323 to "3 pagodas pass"), almost wiped out twice by tourist buses overtaking a queue of vehicles into oncoming traffic (Tez/Pegas tours), heading from Sai Yok Noi to Kanchanaburi on my way out. Heading back it was smaller mini vans and pick ups doing the same thing. Tour bus companies could be regulated and required by law to install "drive right" type devices into their vehicles, but how would they manage to cram so much into a day trip?

Educating drivers here good luck, in the past 8 days I've witnessed 3 avoidable accidents on the roads around Ratchaburi, one of which the pick up reversed off the guy (ouch) on a Honda Wave that the pick up pulled out on at a junction.

Everything in life involves risk, just a shame that it is usually down to the ignorance of others when things go wrong and lives are shattered...

Comparisons of driving globally, how can anyone really compare? No matter where you live, we now live in a global community, people from all over at different levels and standards are driving everywhere on their own country's lisence or without. I was hit twice in the UK while riding motorbikes. Both occasions by non UK citizens, both of them at fault, both left the scene, niether insured, both caught, neither prosecuted (?), no recovery of losses, who'd live in London...

How do you solve this global problem?

  5. In agreement with LotusBoy. We chose to live here, no one was forced to up sticks & move here from the UK. Think you're hard done by here then move back to good old Blighty...

Anyone who seriously thought that the Ambassador would give his personal opinion rather than the party line to any of these questions need to give themselves a good talking too, some of these "questions" were pretty pointless.

  6. Given the recent reluctance by immigration to issue visas to Nigerians entering the Kingdom, they have taken to using false passports from other African nations.

After one Nigerian was detained last week by immigration police in BKK for using a false passport from another Afriacan country, his colleagues decided to cancel their applications (also using false passports) at the immigration office in Jomtien through a local agent.

The use of a fake Thai marriage certificates to get non immigrant visa beggars belief, the ingenuity is boundless, so 10 out of 10 for effort.
