  1. Hello

wondering if anyone is in the Nan area who knows of a shop that can do UK passport style photos. saves me the cost of getting my son down to Bangkok to get his pictures done there.

    thanks

    steve

  2. i have just been speaking with her and because she works in a hospital she can get a doctor to do it for her which is a sigh of relief i think. then just write down on that we did not know any common wealth citizens too sign for us. just that and the little brats pictures is hopefully all she has to worry about.

with any luck because he has my surname she wont need any supporting evidence but might just get it done just incase.

Dont suppose the bkk service has a fast track passport service as im tight on time

  3. can i just ask about the counter signature if it is required or not. i am in a similar sort of situation but no where near complicated from the sounds of things and if i can get away without the countersignature it will make my life a whole lot easier. and if someone can point me where it shows that no counter signature is required for a child's first passport .

  4. Hi all

I am wondering of someone can give me some advice and maybe clear something up for me

Currently i am trying to get my son his Thai passport. The problem is i am not in the country to be there and currently working on visa for his mum to come visit for Christmas. My issue is that he does not have his uk passport and i have not applied for one yet due to complication of trying to explain the process to his mom.

Anyway she is telling me that the Thai passport office told her that i need to write a letter to my Embassy ? (i can only assume british embassy in Thailand) who will then take my details and pass it onto the Ministry of foreign affairs. I have no idea or even have any remote idea of where she has got this from as to me on the Ministry's website it clearly shows that if one parent can not come then a letter is needed.

So can anyone give me up to date recent information please as she is really bugging me with it..

    Thanks

    Steve

  5. thanks for that, yes we are going to go the settlement route i had considered doing the visit visa first to see how she felt about the uk but by the time i add flights, visa costs it would work out better if we just went for the settlement and it reduces the ball ache of having to prove a reason to return

thanks for the reading material going to give it a read now.

  6. Hi all,

i need some help in what visa i should apply for my girlfriend, and some basic guidance on where to start,

at the moment she is studying and practicing her english but has not booked onto a course yet until we get a clear window and which course to book her on as i read that it should only be an approved school, i can only imagine that she would have to go to the british council in Chiang Mai for such an accreditation.

we are not married yet good thing or not in terms of visa applications im not sure but we have discussed getting married just that funds between us are spread a bit thin at the moment

we also have a 7 week old son who has my last name and i am on the birth certificate as father, the consulate said that he automagically gains my british but would i have too prove this to the embassy at the time ?

we have been together for coming up to 3 years now with me making an average for 4 trips a year out since our son was born have been making regular payments to cover both him and help her out whilst she also works as a nurse

i have all her qualifications including degree's which i have had translated and intending to send them too NARIC to get them validated and transferred to british equivalent so we can see whether or not she needs to study more to be able to Nurse in the uk

also i know technically that she makes the application and i make the application to sponsor but where does it all come together ? we put it all into a big folder statements from both of us but before we send that away we have to do the online application,

does she fill this in with her details or since im the sponsor do i fill it in with my details,

    any help/info/guidance appreciated

  7. update

i have had a full refund of the double charge, and its been hassle free and quite efficent compared to the horror stories i have read about Etihad's Customer service but truthfully i really have nothing bad to say about the way it has been handled, maybe it was my calm approach to the situation instead of being aggressive and demanding, maybe because i also had my bank chasing for the evidence. maybe im a frequent flyer, who knows, but i had the same customer services agent who responded to my e-mails and who seemed to be doing all the chasing between me and finance to sort out the matter and that is probably why i would still chose Etihad over most other airlines out their

ok if everything was handled correctley to begin with this would of never happened but shit tends to go both ways and i could argue if i had never slept in i would never of had this problem,

    so lessons learned,

    set an appropriate alarm clock

keep every reciept from beginning to end

the bank is your first point of call should their be a discrepancy

also both transactions £492 and £32 were refunded i am still awaiting the e-mail to confirm this and for any reasons why it happened in the first place however i have just recieved the funds so assume that an appropriate e-mail is on route in the next few days,

  8. Hello all,

i would like to share a recent experience i had with Etihad,

now i will start of with saying that Etihad has always been my first choice flight, there flight times always suit me and they are usually the cheapest route for me (apart from this trip)

anyway flight went all fine i had a 13 hour layover in abu dhabi on my return trip so i ventured out, enjoyed the scenerey grabbed some food then went to a hotel for a shower and sleep, that sleep word being the expensive part

woke up 5am and the flight left at 2am, yes i know my own fault and what a bit of a dick i felt but no use crying over spilt milk.

got to the Airport explained the situation they did try but because of the cheap fair route the ticket was classed as no show and unable to swap incase of another noshow even though i was now at the airport, shit happens take it on the chin.

so a new ticket was around £566 (£10 cheaper than my original flight was from MAN-BKK return) fine, paid on my card new ticket issued and now on my way home, now this is where it all went a bit wrong.

upon checking my bank balances a few days later i noticed that i was now overdrown, <deleted> i said and i had a look at the transactions, and now this is the confusing part,

i have 3 transaction for Etihad Air (as listed on my statement)

one transaction for the agreed air fair of £566

another transaction for £32 which i assumed was my duty free

a third transaction of £492 - - - i have no idea where the hell this has come from, and i cant even say it was a double charge because the price is not the same

now the funny thing is i have just checked my other bank balance and i have another transaction from ABU Dhabi on the same day for £20 even though i did not use that card on that day, the only time i used that card was on the 21st february when i flew out with Etihad and picked up a carton of smokes.

Needless to say i have contacted the banks had the funds restored on the large transaction pending investigation, cards cancelled, if i had used the cards i would of had the reciept from the till, i only have the duty free and flight ticket reciept.

maybe i was just unlucky or maybe its a common occurence, i still enjoy etihad flights and have just been upgraded to their gold membership but lesson learned, cash is king and cash it will be from now on.

    similar experiences ?

  9.

    Hello All.

Has anyone had any experience with this hospital, i have heard good things said but my girlfriend is scheduled there for a cesarean and i have just been informed that i will not be allowed in the room during the procedure, this has somewhat upset me quite a bit, i intend fully intend too confront the doctor as to why this is but before i turn into a bull in a china shop (which i want to avoid) has anyone had this experience with Sriphat and had a different result ?

i have read that others have been in a similar situation and confronted the doctor and eventually been able to attend his wife's side, and i have also read that someone just walked into the operating room,

any advice much appreciated, but finding another doctor is most likely out of the question given the late stages of her pregnancy.

if someone has had luck do they have the name of the doctor that allowed them in ?

I guess you are a Doctor!

i guess you live in chiang mai

  11. cheers for that, when i saw her bank card i did not see any relation to uk bank cards and how i would be able to transfer money across but that is something i will now look into, thanks for that

as for getting her a visa to come here and visit, i think it should be no harder than getting a normal visa if we were together and not married ideally this wont be until 6months - year after our baby is born, this gives me plenty of time to sit down read through the jargon on the website and put together something. if i feel that its a bit over my head i will enlist the help of a visa agent but i do feel from what ive read that aslong as i dot the i's and cross my t's i should be ok.

thank you all for the info its been much appreciate

  12. English Name is OK, my daughter has one and we only did the ceremony and did not register the marriage.

Get your surname on the birth cert. On the certs issue (if it's issued at the hospital) see if you can get a copy in English at the same time (I did).

You will need to get aThai passport for the baby for travel purposes to the UK.

Stop panicking and get your butt out here.

Send money via western union or TT it to her account. Don't give her your card!!

    Good luck!!

cheers for that, does your daughter have your surname even if not married ?

  13. 3 Months left to go, hospital chosen, one more ultrasound left to go thought i had everything sorted then i think a bombshell just hit.

    1) we had decided on an english name for our son but im sure i have just read that 1) because he is half thai being born in thailand he must have a thai name ? 2) because me and his mother are not married he must have a thai name ( we had planned on using the name Lucas from the minute we found out it was a boy)

can anyone confirm this ? and is there anyway around this ?

    2) am i also correct that since we are not legally married the child will automatically take his mother's surname ?

    3) ive got baby clothes and other small items i can carry over when i fly out for the birth, is there anything else i should really take from the uk to thailand that is either better quality/more available in the uk markets.

    4) between 6months - 1 year we plan on taking our child over to meet my family since my family is not able to fly due to health reasons is there anything i need to get whilst im there that can help with the passport and visa process,

    5) is there any other information that you think might be of use ?

    6) in the event that im a remain at home country until i can take them both out here what is the best way to help with child support, i had this crazy thought of getting a bank card out in my name giving it to her and that way i can transfer the money from my account to that account and she can take out the funds there, that way im in charge of the card, it will only be a debit card, i avoid being raped by western union every time i make a transfer, is this crazy or somewhat perfectley acceptable ?

(off hand info, hopefully i will be out there for 3-4 weeks for before during and after the birth as we are planning on natural but will find out the rough size of the baby on the last scan, hopefully i will be in a rotation so it will give me the time to sort out alot of the details easier, however i must assume that i will be remainig in the uk under my current position)

    thank you for your time

  14. the birth certificate question was when the baby gets born and its something i couldnt find much information on, had the ultrasound a few days back 9 weeks pregnant due date is march 2nd

as for college funds e.t.c that is a long way off providing the dna test proves the kid is mine, mother has al ready been made aware that there will be no money until the child is born and i have 0 intention of going back until that time comes.

now she is in chiang mai and asking about hospitals, i told her goverment but then she still has to pay, keep reciepts and claim it back ? something about a pink card ? only pink card im aware about is for non thai workers

also any ideas on hospitals and costs from looking here ive noticed suan dok is a favourite but narkorn ping has been mentioned by her

    cheers

  15. yup, ive already asked her to do the test infront of me but not being in the same country and unable to leave the uk i cant force her to sit on the toilet and piss on the stick. or it would of been done already.

In that case tell her to call you back after the baby is born and you can take baby for a DNA test.

You don't have to pay anything as hospital care for pregnancy is free, and efficient in Thailand.

Don't speak to her, don't give her any money until after you have done the DNA test.

    PS

Abortion is against the law in Thailand

    PPS

As you are not married, you don't have any parental rights over the baby at all, even if it exists and is yours.

    PPPS

A bargirl that actually gets pregnant, will contact ALL her customers in those two months, and tell them they are the father. It's a great scam, you can screw money out of 5 guys a at the same time.

sound advice, she wasnt a bargirl and seemed like at the time a decent egg until all this shit started coming my way.

any information on the birth certificate should the dna prove me to be the father

  16. however i need to plan for the slim chance that she is actually pregnant.

Get a pregnancy test kit, the 60bht ones are fast.

Put her in the toilet with the kit, tell her to piss on it or piss off.

If the kit doesn't show positive, by the time she leaves you know you are off the hook.

How stupid are you, not making her do a test in front of you the moment she claims she is pregnant.

Now she has the chance to get pregnant by another guy and claim it as yours.

The chances of you being scammed are about 95%, they can spot a mug a mile off (so can I, and yes you are).

yup, ive already asked her to do the test infront of me but not being in the same country and unable to leave the uk i cant force her to sit on the toilet and piss on the stick. or it would of been done already.

  17. Ex-girlfriend, don't speak to her, don't answer phone calls, move condo, hang out at different places.

How hard is it for gods sake!

You want to know if you should sign a birth certificate when you are not even sure she is pregnant ...... what is wrong with you?

just for the reason that if ive made a kid then turning my back on that isnt in me, that is if she is pregnant and if she doesnt cough up soon with something of credible then i will do as you said.

however i need to plan for the slim chance that she is actually pregnant.

    and no, never married previously
