  1. 'Sriracha called for a limit on land owned by foreign residents and said the land tax should be hiked to promote the use of land, although doing this might be difficult, as the rich would object.'

    The rich would object?

This is the most terrifying part of the story and shows what controls this place, money.

Guess that proves again that the rich benefit whilst the poor get poorer in Thailand.

  2. Please show me where in the OP it refers to poor people?

All I read is Burmese go there. Plenty of Thais and foreigners go there, too.

It is you that is inferring that the children are looking down on the Burmese. There is nothing in the OP that should lead you to that conclusion.

Nice example of showing how 2+2=5.

The op finds it cute that kids are able to look down upon a race, obviously as lower class than themselves.

It's something that should be discouraged in a child, not endorsing it with laughter or praise by a parent.

  3. Kids are learning to look down on the poor so young these days.

Must get it from the morally bankrupt parents or spoilt brat friends at school.

Not sure laughing at peoples misfortune with the kids is a good example to set.

How did you manage to come up with that conclusion?

Did the voices in your head tell you?

"Oh look, poor migrants workers scraping an existence daddy" hahaha lol

    "Central Burma" hahaha lol

Wasn't normal behavior when i was a kid, what has changed?

Making fun of the poor or misfortunate at that age is either picked up at school from other spoilt brats or at home from the parents.

Its certainly a trait I don't want my kids to pick up. How Thai to be so xenophobic.

What school do these kids go to so I can avoid it?

  4. Rainwater solutions are great.

I am self sufficient for about 9 months a year and the ground well takes care of the rest to fill my 21000 litre tank.

My house gets no public water but who needs another unreliable public service once you have it set up, also I think the rain is cleaner than the filth I seen come out the public works. Yuk.

You can get the exotic copper ones made in town but the quote far outweighed their beauty.

  5. I just simply enjoy the intensity of a tanning bed and I hate tan lines thats all :P no big deal lol....

I'm guessing by the user name, avatar and thirst for tanning without lines that you're a body builder.

Got a competition coming up or you just want to look good for dancing in the night club shirtless?

  6. I agree with KBB. Not much chance in Karon. There is a new place in Kata called Kata Ocean View that have a management company and reception. Bit pricy !!

Some managed condos are springing up in Patong along the so called new road, runs behind the big Jungceylon mall, 3 roads back from the beach. But not a big choice, month by month deal, hope you have a good budget. High season these places are full and pricey. Low season starts April, prices go down a big chunk and usually lots of availability.

The waterfront at Karon has one and two bedroom serviced apartments.

Its the only one I can think of in that area.

  7. I use auto express on bypass road (PHUKET)to service my cars and they specialize in imports.

The head mechanic is a subaru specialist but has done other 4 bangers including the evo.

Having searched the island for 5 years for a decent shop, its the most professional and informative shop i have found.

Drop me a pm if you have anymore questions.
