  3. Life insurance is a good option if you're scared of not being able to fulfill the financial requirements for the visa.

For example, if you're 65 and take out insurance for 5 million baht. That should give you 500k baht a year for 10 years when there is a good chance your time will be up.

Do you mean insuring your young teerak's life with yourself as the beneficiary?

No, I meant insuring my wife's life with me as the beneficiary. Shh, don't mention my young teerak!

My wife's getting on 36 next birthday.

And pry tell me in thailand were can one insure your thai wifes life with term cover for 5 million which insurance company in thailand does it?

  4. Regarding the import of own cars from abroad, the way I understand it is the duty is on a sliding scale over 10 years of ownership. For instance, if you have just bought a car in, say, the UK, you would pay 100% import duty when bringing the car to Thailand. If you've owned the car for 5 years, you would pay 50% duty, owned for 9 years then you pay 10%, and sole owner for 10 years or more you can import your car without paying duty.

Not saying this is gospel, just the information I was given.

Yes bring it over after ten years and see the rust appear after ten years on the salt roads of the uk. I will still buy new here and just did took 5 months to arrive but well worth it

  5. Wait until the rice scam goes belly up and watch the Baht weaken.

Another dreamer with a wishful (nonsense) comment. Been seeing them in untold numbers of threads, on this site, since the 2008 US and Europe economy and bank bailouts.

Can someone point me to a single post from the last fortnight where a Brit has actually booked plane tickets and / or started wrapping up their life in Thailand ? Plenty of talk of a mythical queue at Swampy, but I havent seen any evidence of a single BM who is actually packing his bags and getting out.

There all jumping and in a q 2
