  1. I can’t be critical because even after living here off and on for 15 years my Thai language skills are rudimentary at best. I dare say there are more like me out there. For me to criticise would be downright hypocrisy. I take my hat off to those that are multilingual but cannot condone criticism of those that aren’t.
  2. A future Go Fund Me participant.
  3. I suspect you are correct. If it was foreign tourists it’s 100% certain to have been made clear in the story. I suspect tourists are domestic and so no real issue was made of their nationality.
  4. This figure equates to 18 per day. Not sure what all the hype is about. More effort needed on the other 358 days.
  5. I do like a good Khanom khrok but many skimp on the coconut milk. Quality is so much dependent on a generous portion of coconut milk. Anything less leads to a bland product. Same applies for mango and sticky rice.
  6. I’ve found over the past few years that the time taken to clear immigration has been quite short. Less than 15 minutes after reaching the immigration counters. If I go back to the years leading up to COVID the queues were endless with huge numbers of, predominantly, Chinese visitors. Nowadays I spend more time waiting for my baggage than I do getting through immigration. On the departure side I find the biggest crush or bottleneck is at check-in. Once you negotiate this mayhem things seem to run a bit smoother. I also find that one of benefits of travelling with my Thai wife is I can go through the Thai immigration counters with her. They are often less congested than the queues for foreigners.
  7. Perhaps get Sylvester Stallone on board to assess whether or not it’s escape proof. Where do they dream this stuff up? Logistics and cost effectiveness would be off the scale, let alone security needs.
  8. And that’s exactly what he is doing. He couldn’t give a sh!t if Thailand and Cambodia kill each other. He has little regard for human life and no time for a peaceful, meaningful outcome. He’s an opportunist bully pretending to be a peacemaker at the expense of others.
  9. On the flip side I believe Hun is shoring up his stranglehold on the Cambodian political landscape for another 20 years especially with the closed press he has at his disposal.
  10. Thailand has tried with 3 leadership changes to no avail. I suspect if Cambodia changed out Hun the hun it may solve the problem.
  11. Quality tourist. Waste of a good skin.
  12. Not much chance of the wealthy ones being conscripted. More likely if you live in the far flung regions
  13. I commend the police on their process of apprehending this guy. He was lucky he didn’t fry this in a few of the more “civilised “ jurisdictions around the world. Could have turned out a lot worse for him. The police here seem to be more tolerant of this type of behaviour and try to resolve without over the top aggression or the “bang bang stop or I’ll shoot approach”.
  14. Under the guise of a considered court decision.
