  1. So long as crime-fighters get paid by the word to write, superheroes like GammaGlobulin will always be here in times of need ????
  2. There was a time when "Phuket News" was the part of the forum which dealt with the news regarding Phuket. Now, of course, it is the place for non-Phuket residents to come and shout about what a "failure" the sandbox has been, and accuse Phuket of stealing all the vaccines from the poor and vulnerable. I understand. If I couldn't afford to live in Phuket, I might feel angry too ????
  3. Miss Minaj's views on vaccinations are unhelpful, if xyz celebrity has personal reservations about covid vaccines, the best thing they can do is shut up and let their "fans" make up their own minds. That said, I did find her address to the PM in a fake English accent rather amusing ???? Perhaps a wild night out around London Town would put things to rights. As a single man, could Professor Whitty resist Nicki's charms? Or would Boris fancy an emergency "cobra meeting"?
  4. In a series of Tweets, Minaj also took aim at Piers Morgan, referring to him as a clown and a "stupid piece of ****". She later tries to reconcile with Mr Johnson, in a video where she explains that she is in fact English and "went to school with Margaret Thatcher". Nicki is a popular American rapper with big knockers.
  5. Every other currency has also experienced the pandemic, although Thailand has been hit harder due to its reliance on tourism. Thailand's foreign reserves are huge at $240 billion (the 12th largest in the world), and their debt to GDP is comparatively low. Despite everything, Thailand's economic fundamentals are sound, as viewed from the perspective of a currency trader: https://www.fxcm.com/uk/insights/what-are-economic-fundamentals-and-long-term-currency-movements/
  6. The Bank of Thailand rarely do make these kind of announcements. You'll notice the photo is captioned: The chief of the TAT would have given 500 briefings in the same time period ????
  7. Great news! In completely unrelated news, the number of daily covid tests dropped below 50,000 for the first time since April 2021. Way to go Thailand! https://ourworldindata.org/explorers/coronavirus-data-explorer?zoomToSelection=true&minPopulationFilter=1000000&time=2021-04-23..latest&facet=none&pickerSort=asc&pickerMetric=location&hideControls=true&Metric=Tests&Interval=7-day+rolling+average&Relative+to+Population=false&Align+outbreaks=false&country=~THA
  8. Abstruse ???? There is plenty of humour to be found within the complexities of languages. Non-native English speakers do enjoy innuendo, even if it sometimes needs a bit of explanation.
  9. Excellent, I must confess I have rarely met a Thai lady with any real appreciation of innuendo. You could amaze her with some British bawdy comedy. Maybe she would enjoy some classic saucy postcards, or a "Carry On" film for 2? ????
  10. Now that I couldn't tell you. Every country seems to have its own definition of what a "covid death" is.
  11. Do you find it funny that 4 people died of covid in Phuket?
  12. The Thai Baht is down 10% in the last 6 months against the USD, EUR and GBP.
  13. I've seen the hotel you linked to (Sleep with Me Patong) advertised at 9,000 baht for 14 nights, so 24K for the package would be doable. Good questions in your thread.
  14. Thailand does currently have one unicorn out of the 800 or so out there: https://www.cbinsights.com/research-unicorn-companies Information brought to you by nkg's "Fascinating Facts" service ...
  15. It sounds like you need some intellectual stimulation. Consider studying advanced number theory or 13th century Japanese poetry, or write a paper on the Mach Zehnder Interferometer and its applications. Hell no, fire up da naked laydeez vidz ????
  16. An iPhone 6s runs the latest version of ios, you can get one on ebay or similar for £50 to £100 depending on condition etc. It fits easily into a pocket.
  17. https://ourworldindata.org/explorers/coronavirus-data-explorer?zoomToSelection=true&minPopulationFilter=1000000&time=2021-08-20..2021-09-05&facet=none&pickerSort=asc&pickerMetric=location&hideControls=true&Metric=Confirmed+deaths&Interval=7-day+rolling+average&Relative+to+Population=false&Align+outbreaks=false&country=~THA
  18. The numbers are correct, but the timeframe of the numbers (as quoted from your website) is: As I pointed out in my previous post, Thailand's deaths in 2020 are completely irrelevant with regards to what is happening NOW. I'll use your figures to calculate the current percentage of covid deaths. Covid deaths have averaged 250/day for the last few weeks. "507,913 people died in Thailand each year" divided by 365 is 1391 deaths per day. 250 divided by 1391 times 100 (percentage) - 250/1391x100 17.9% of all current deaths
  19. Interesting point you make, but do you have any reason to believe that most Thais would recognise Yamamoto? Also, Yamamoto was only one of several Japanese commanders involved in WW2. The likes of Hitler, Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill were the leaders of their countries.
  20. Or to put it another way, Thailand's covid deaths (250 a day) are currently 4 times higher than Thailand's road deaths (62 a day). I don't hear anyone saying that road deaths in Thailand are a minor problem ...
  21. Your figures are misleading, because Thailand had almost no covid deaths until recently: April 15th 2020 - 43 deaths October 15th 2020 - 59 deaths April 15th 2021 - 97 deaths September 4th 2021 - 12,631 deaths Thailand has been averaging 250 deaths/day for the last 3 weeks. Assuming the daily deaths don't rise any further - optimistically - that would be 250x365 - 91,250 deaths a year.
